    Pureed food ideas? Help!

My doc allowed scrambled eggs. Eggbeaters are good too. Eggs were a lifesaver because soups really had me bummed out! I would also cook some chicken up in a skillet then throw it in the food processor with some chicken gravy. Once you get past the visual it's really quite tasty!

    March 2014 Sleevers

I went to the gym for the first time since surgery. Did 20 mins on the treadmill (about a mile). I'm going to try and do 20 mins at least 3 days a week. Gotta start somewhere, even if small. The good news is that going last night helped me break through my week-long stall. What does that tell ya! They weren't kidding when they say exercise is crucial. Hopefully it helps with all this flabby skin I've got going on too :/

Full - when does the feeling subside?

It's bittersweet huh... On one hand it sucks being so uncomfortably full so quickly with such a small amount of food.. Then on the other it's pretty great at the same time because I'm not eating for two anymore (without being pregnant!)

I would call your surgeon or speak to a nurse. At 8 weeks out I would think you shouldn't have any pain anymore. Are you on a daily antacid? If not, the rumbling and hurting could be from heartburn. Even on a daily dose antacid, I still get the burning and rumbling in my stomach in the evening.

    Sharp pain from a sneeze.

I remember my first sneeze after surgery. Felt very similar to how you described, and I was sore for a couple days afterward. Just gotta imagine the tissue the surgeon had to dig through and the internal sutures that are there. It's possible that you pulled on one. This will definitely set back the healing that has already been done, unfortunately. Just try and take it easy until it feels better. Keep a pillow handy so you can have it on your stomach if you feel a sneeze or cough, and avoid bending down at the waist and heavy lifting.

So much weight so little time

I lost (and still am) losing very quickly as well. Just stick to your guidelines and you'll be fine . Try not to make goal deadlines as this only sets you up for disappointment (if you happen to not reach that specific goal.) As long as you are losing then you're doing great

    March 2014 Sleevers

Hi guys just wanted to check in. Over 7 weeks out now and down 60 lbs. I am eating "regular" food which can be a challenge. Not in the sense that I want to eat bad things, but to me I still have so much restriction that I am full after 5 or less small bites. So it gets frustrating when I cook food and can't eat 98% of it, and most of the stuff doesn't make good leftovers. So a lot of wasted food . My calories are probably between 400-600 a day. Which oddly seems like so much to me. I keep carbs to a minimum. No more than 40-50 I'd say. When I do eat them it's whole grain stuff. I really hope everyone is doing well! Just taking it day by day.

We are very similar, except my surgery was the 5th. I hit 60 lbs lost today. Down to a size 18 now from a 22. I love water but it has to be cold.

For me personally I couldn't have gone back after a week. It was then that I was just barely starting to feel like myself again but was still wiped out. I'm a designer at a desk job so my job obviously isn't physically demanding but it is definitely something that I need to be 100% mentally there for. Everyone's recoveries are different so you never know. I see a lot of people on here go back after a week. For me it was 3.

    holiday photos

Well the good news is that you can always untag yourself if she happened to tag you. Also, this is a "before" pic that you now have to compare your afters to!

    A tad bit worried

I still felt like crap after a week. It will hurt to bed over and get up out of chairs for a couple weeks. I have also read that sometimes the surgeon can stitch an incision too tightly and that can cause a lot of pain too. Hang in there, it does get better. Keep up your protein too because protein helps the healing process.

    Who is in March?

How did everyone do today for Easter? Of course my family had a huge luncheon. Food looked amazing but I managed. I had a (half portion) deviled egg, a tiny piece of ham (probably the size of a silver dollar), and a couple halves of strawberries. The only thing I splurged on was a forkful of my mom's lasagna. I was stuffed! It is so weird feeling like I ate SO MUCH yet looking back I barely had anything. I skipped the appetizers and sweets. Hope everyone had a nice Easter nonetheless.

    Scary Skinny

I'd love to see any pics you got! I'm 5'9 as well and would love to even hit 170 so I am curious as to what the 140s look like
  15. I believe at a year out you should be able to have 1 cup of food. At almost two months I "should" be having 1/4 cup - 1/2 cup. But it's more like 1/8 sometimes.

How do I know if I can do this?

There's a difference between being scared and having second thoughts. Being scared is normal. This is major surgery! As long as you keep the positives in mind then you will go through with it without second thoughts. No regrets. On the other hand, if you're having second thoughts, don't go through with it. Or give yourself more time to mentally prepare. The last thing you want to have is regret, and this is an irreversible procedure. Don't force yourself to do something you may not be ready for. But ARE you ready? Well just read around here and you will see a very clear picture about what to expect before and after surgery. For me, the surgery was the easy part. Just had to show up and get some magic liquid in my IV and then I woke up and it was over. The hard part is recovery as well as figuring out what you're going to be eating. But this really only lasts for about 7-8 weeks until you are back to normal foods. It goes by fast, trust me. Then after that you are basically on a low calorie high Protein diet. It's easier now though, since you get full so quickly. When it comes down to it, it's your decision. I made a decision to stop the the numbers from continuing going up on the scale which was only putting my life in danger. I made the decision for myself to get healthy. Good luck!

What's the skinny on the skin?

If it's going to happen it's going to happen no matter the rate of weight loss. Take advantage of the "honeymoon" stage, which is the first 10 months to a year after surgery where the weight drops rapidly. After that you will have to work much harder. Personally, after losing almost 60 lbs in 2 months, my skin seems to be a bit squishier and my stomach is still hanging a little low. My arms have always been big so I know for a fact I will have a lot of skin there. I am 25 years old. I'd rather have loose skin than have it full of fat. Bring on the skin!

How much help did you need?

I really didn't need help taking care of myself. I needed help getting up out of the recliner a few times because my stomach was too sore the first couple days. But after that I just mainly needed help taking care of my 4 year old, which her father did.

saw this pic made me gag lol

Awesome! I have pics like that too that I want to delete from my computer. But it's true... Gotta have them to look back on no matter how much they disgust us.

How long will i be out of work?

The surgeon had me take 3 weeks off. It was the perfect amount of time. Not only are you recovering but you are figuring out your fluids and planning meals.

What do you eat during the day? At 6 weeks out I'm supposed to be at like 600 calories. It's bittersweet that I don't tolerate the foods that I used to enjoy. Even milk (which I used to LOVE and drink a ton of) tastes gross to me. But I would rather it be like this, than have everything still tasting delicious because I know I have terrible self control!

    Who is in March?

Nice!! I start solid (well, normal) food tomorrow. So anxious, I feel like it's going to be weird. What kind of stuff are you planning on eating? What is your meal size? I still can only eat like not even 1/8 of a cup. It's like 4 small bites and I'm stuffed . Like today I had one saltine cracker with a little chicken salad on it and that made me full. For dinner it was a couple bites of chicken. Thats all I've had today aside from water and it still feels like I just got back from an all you can eat buffet! This restriction is just more than I ever anticipated. I can tell my body is hungry even though I don't feel hunger. When I get full off a couple bites I get frustrated and say noooo I don't want to be full yet! Ugh. Rant over lol. Good news is that I am 6 weeks out today . I had a "scary" dream last night that I ate a hamburger and other junk and never got full. What a nightmare lol.

    Favorite Motovational quote

"Don't waste time or time will waste you" - Muse (Knights of Cydonia) "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference." - Robert Frost. (This one really speaks to me.)

What are the signs of a leak?

According to my surgeon, your stomach would be in a LOT of pain. Either way glad you gave your dr a call so he can maybe check you over to be safe.
