You know you lost weight when
sleevie.wonder replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
All the double-takes when you walk past a window or mirror. I can barely believe it's me every time. My knees and even calves not rubbing together anymore when I walk. Don't think I will ever have the "thigh gap" but not being able to hear the friction shuffle is enough for me. -

March 2014 Sleevers
sleevie.wonder replied to kimpossible80's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh yes. I've gotten very close to blacking out a couple times. Gotta be real careful that I get up out of my seat reallll slow and wait for a couple seconds before I start walking and then it doesn't happen. -

I have my 5 month follow up on August 5th so I won't know lab stuff til then. I'm anxious to see how those turn out... I'm always worried I'm not getting enough of something or that I am going to be deficient. I'm down 95 lbs. Excited to reach -100 lbs, as I've got something planned for myself! Weight loss is slowing down but I'm ok with that as I have been losing so rapidly so far... I'm already ahead of schedule. I have lost a ton of hair and it continues to fall out. Luckily I have a lot to lose but it's still sad to see it go. But I just keep telling myself it's temporary and it will come back. Worth it! -

compression stockings
sleevie.wonder replied to tmuller02's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They put on the compression stockings before I went in to surgery and then I had them on the remainder of my stay. As long as your dr knows your condition I'm sure they will be prepared. Take them if you want though, sure won't hurt anything. -

That's definitely frustrating to hear that. At least you will have a different "teacher" pretty much every week. They range from nutritionists, psychiatrists, MDs, etc. I'm sure you weren't the only one in class who was disappointed, I would definitely fill out one of Kaisers surveys or speak to someone directly about it. My experience at Fontana was very positive. -

My hair is falling out like crazy. I bought some 5000mcg biotin pills that I am going to start taking and I am going to buy some re growth shampoo. I've lost at least 50% of my thickness! Here's progress pics at 90 lbs lost Before: -
I hate to be gross but i have not had a bowel movement
sleevie.wonder replied to Erica517's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take Milk of Magnesia (Phillips) and it always works. In fact I have a scheduled day of the week that I take it and that is my weekly bm lol. For you it seems like things may be a bit backed up. The milk if magnesia will help soften it to get things moving. Try 3 tbsp before bed and you should have the urge to go by morning. Be sure to drink at least 8oz of Water with this dose. Good luck! Don't let it go too long. You do to want to become impacted. -
Love the visual of the garden soil bags. Awesome idea! You look amazing, good job!

As long as you don't gain weight they will still operate. I only lost 2 lbs during Options. Good luck! Btw, I am throwing out my recommendation for Dr. Chin! Loved him! -
Whats your "full" signal?
sleevie.wonder replied to knitlil09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The painfully full feeling. I will go from feeling fine to UUGGHH in a .5 second. Sometimes I will get that really loud an huge hiccup that people talk about too. -
I know this has been asked a million times, but....
sleevie.wonder replied to JenSul's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on your insurance, really. I have Kaiser so there was a LOT of appointments as well as three months worth of health classes. Then a few more appts after that. My timeline: referral for bariatric surgery sent by my PCP: July 2013. Had surgery March 2014. -
Things you wish you knew!
sleevie.wonder replied to alyssaajoan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is is not as easy as you might fantasize it to be. I always pictured myself being 100% dedicated as far as getting my protein, vitamins, and exercise in. After, not so much. At all. Now my hair is falling out and my skin is sagging. Hey, it's to be expected, but I always thought I would do everything possible to be good. *shrugs* -
Waiting for approval
sleevie.wonder replied to beth_d's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there, patience is key during this whole journey, ESPECIALLY after! Timing is everything. That's what I told myself during the 8 month process of getting my sleeve. It's worth the wait! Good luck -
hair loss 5 months out. what to do
sleevie.wonder replied to gruiz27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm almost 4 months out and my hair is falling out like crazy. I don't have any suggestions but I recently ordered the Nioxin shampoo, as I've heard good things about it: http://www.amazon.com/Nioxin-System-Cleanser-Therapy-Thinning/dp/B000TMM2PU/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1404243163&sr=1-1&keywords=nioxin -
Awesome job! How's the skin holding up?

sleevie.wonder replied to Sweeteyes27's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats and good job. I've been losing very quickly as well (at 3 months I was down 75 lbs, now at almost 4 months out I am down 90). Keep up the good work. -

I would think that all Kaiser surgeons have the same requirements, I know that there are two surgeons that do the surgery (Dr. Chin & Dr. Fedorka) through the Fontana center and they both have the same requirements. Where are you taking your Options classes? I think you would need to go to Fontana either way. You will love Dr. Chin, plus he's got a great track record. Been doing these surgeries for 15+ years. He's been with Kaiser for 3 of those years and says that he's only had 1 leak out of the 1,000+ surgeries he's done through Kaiser, and the guy did fine afterwards. I was sold after he told me that lol. I had no complications besides one of my incisions opening up and taking 6 weeks to heal, but it never got infected or anything. Keep me updated! -

I enjoyed the Options classes. They were very informative and I learned a lot. They went by fast for 12 weeks. My surgeon had me on a 1200 calorie diet for the week preceding the surgery, and on Clear liquids for only a day before. Very manageable! -

I had my surgery through So Cal Kaiser (Fontana) on March 5th. I had a wonderful experience and loved my surgeon. If you have the opportunity to have Dr. Chin, do it! I started options last October, graduated The beginning of January, had surgery in March. To give a timeline. Be sure to stay on top of appointments because they are really strict about us taking our health into our own hands and will not bug us for appointments. If you miss their call, CALL THEM BACK! They will not keep trying. Best of luck and I am happy to answer any questions. -

I've decided I'm going to cut mine short as well. Right now it's pretty long, at least halfway down my back and now that it's thinning out it doesn't look too good. My haircut will be planned for when I reach 199lbs though! Gotta keep then goals going lol. ~30lbs to go. Hoping by August. -

So the hair loss DOES stop at some point, right?? I've been losing so much these last few weeks and I really don't want to lose any more because I will end up bald! Lol.
