I'm in the same boat... so let me know what works for you . People tell me I look good where I am at right now, but I am at the top of the overweight category still. I need to lose another 25-30lbs to be in a normal weight range. It's very frustrating, but I just tell them I'd like to get to a healthier weight still, even though they don't agree.

120 pounds lost and 7 months out PIX
sleevie.wonder replied to sleevie.wonder's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
No I don't go to the gym. I walk a lot that's about it. Gonna start doing something soon though because I've got to start toning. I've got a lot of flab still. Thank you and best of luck to you. My hints are to be sure to follow each phase accordingly and keep calories around 800 (but if your dr recommends higher then follow their instructions), most of those being from your Protein sources. Don't allow old habits creep back no matter how small and take it one day at a time. -

March 2014 Sleevers
sleevie.wonder replied to kimpossible80's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How is everyone doing? Just hit my 6 month mark on the 5th. Down ~115 lbs and stalling. Figured it would happen the closer I get to goal though. Gonna start incorporating more exercise and see if that helps. Hope everyone is doing great -

I still have restriction but not as much. But that is normal. It really depends on what I eat, too. Hope everyone is doing well. I am at -110 now still going. Want to lose another 30 or so lbs. -
Please help I can still eat a horse
sleevie.wonder replied to Tobytoes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's probably from eating too fast. I'm guilty of it too . I don't know that I've eaten way too much until it's too late and has hit my stomach like a ton of bricks and then it's painful and uncomfortable. Just try and focus on timing and pacing yourself. Try and set a goal for finishing your meal in a half hour, no less. You will find yourself feeling full before then too most likely. I think it's our old way of eating that is rearing it's ugly face again. -
Just be prepared in case it does come out. You can use shampoos and Vitamins but nothing will keep it from falling out. I'm taking Biotin and using biotin shampoo and honestly can't tell a difference. I lost about half of my hair. No bald spots though but it's pretty thin now. I just got it cut above my shoulders last weekend since there's no point in having such long thin hair-- it looked bad lol. I'm about 5.5 months out and just noticing that it isn't falling out as much in the shower. For me it's a small price to pay to getting healthy.

Fortunately I have not. But I do get the slimies if I drink something after eating too quickly. Gross. -

Lipid Panel results question... 5 months out
sleevie.wonder posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I recently got my labs done for my 5 month post-op appointment on Wednesday. Everything came back great, except my total cholesterol number has gone up. It is still in the "normal" range (it's 166 up from 154 last year), but I find it odd that my cholesterol was lower when I was 100+ lbs heavier and heating fast food every day. Is this normal? Also, my HDL and LDL are not looking great either. My HDL has dropped to 29 (from 42 last year) and my LDL spiked to 117 (from 97 last year) I understand these are questions for my doc on Wednesday, but wanted to see if anyone had the same thing happen to them as well. -

I made an appointment to get my hair cut for the 9th. It's just too thin to have long anymore. But I'm looking forward to the change! I hit 100 lbs lost last week. Just barely squeezing into size 14s too so that makes 4 pant sizes as well. I am one happy person . I saw my brother today and he called me "skinny" which I never knew was possible! I'm far from it, but it still made my day. Can't believe it's been 5 months. Time sure does fly... -

I survived! Sleeve is complete!

Congrats on making it to the losers bench! I found that sucking on ice chips helped a lot with that horrible dry mouth. Stay on top of your pain meds so that the pain doesn't have a chance to creep back. Get up and walk around as much as you can. Hang in there, it gets better . -
Eating too much?
sleevie.wonder replied to bluesclues's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you on any type of antacid? Acid mimics hunger. Like a lot. You could be dealing with head hunger as well. If your nut says what you're doing is ok then you can't be doing much wrong. Everyone's experiences are different. Just keep counting those calories and make sure they're healthy calories. Remember that the honeymoon phase doesn't last forever and this is the prime time to lose the majority of your weight and train yourself to eat healthy so that it will stay off in the long run. -
Bariatric Surgery v the "Natural Way" (Long)

Completely agree with everything you said. This is exactly why I chose bariatric surgery. -
A little under 5 months out and 100 lbs lost!
sleevie.wonder replied to sleevie.wonder's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ty! A typical day usually consists of Protein for breakfast: either a scrambled egg or a turkey sausage patty. lunch is usually pretty random day to day. Usually some type of chicken. I love wraps since bread and I don't get along well anymore. Maybe chicken or tuna salad. dinner could be a turkey patty, chicken w/ brown rice, an oz of whole wheat spaghetti with a turkey meatball, turkey/chicken taco, etc. I basically eat normal meals but healthier versions and much less. I try and work veggies into meals as well. Overall I keep carbs down to a minimum, but nothing like Atkins or anything. -
A little under 5 months out and 100 lbs lost!

Today is a big day for me. I've lost 100 lbs. Such a crazy number to me. I really weighed 100 lbs more than this?! No wonder why I was so miserable! I'd love to lose another 50 lbs, but if I only lose another 40 that would be just fine with me. I will be five months out on the 5th. I know everyone writes this, but the sleeve surgery has been the best decision I ever made for myself. It's nice finally caring about myself again. Not to mention clothes shopping has become fun instead of torture! I love that I can still eat pretty much whatever, but I'm done after 5 bites. Making healthier decisions has become second nature to me. I am in this for the long haul! There is no way I am going back to over 300 lbs. Here are some pics: Heaviest weight: Day of surgery: From today: To anyone still on the fence about the surgery: go for it. -

Some days it's only for 20 mins. Some days it's a busy day (shopping, Disneyland, etc) and I am walking all day. I work a desk job so getting up and active has been hard for me. I'm sure my skin would be looking a lot better had I been exercising everyday! -

Making good choices when it comes to food, I stop eating when I feel the first signal of feeling full, no snacking, lots of water, moderate walking, etc. Need to get myself in an exercise routine though. -
I was on Ursoldiol for 4 months after surgery, and I never noticed any side-effects or that it hindered my weight loss. But everone's different.

Miserable..3 weeks post op..Messing up! HELP!
sleevie.wonder replied to jewelski's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Biggest question: why are you putting that stuff in your mouth in the first place? This surgery was a last resort for me and I have made sure I do NOTHING to mess it up. Because what's left after surgery? ANOTHER surgery? I don't think so! Please stop the self-sabotage and remember why you had this surgery in the first place. Junk food is just that... Junk! And you don't need it. Try and look up support groups in your area or at least some sort of psych that can help you. Because like you said, you really do need help. -

I've accepted that I will never look good naked but you're damn right I will be wearing shape wear from now on lol. My five month post op appt is on the 6th so looking forward to that... -
