You're not alone. I broke my bed as well (the box spring, just on my side). Now I basically sleep on my mattress on the floor. But not since surgery since I would never be able to get up, I've been sleeping in my recliner. -
You look great! Looove your dresses in both pics. Keep it up!

10 days to my surgery
sleevie.wonder replied to Magician44's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very normal, we all go through it. Just keep telling yourself that its the head hunger that got you where you are in the first place. That is what I do. Try distracting yourself and it will pass. GL -

February/March 2014 sleevers

It's very bittersweet. I'm glad that this has helped me kick my sweet tooth already but at the same time I am realizing exactly how much stuff out there is just made sweet. -
I had surgery on Wednesday and since then my sleeve will absolutely not tolerate anything sweet. It's been absolute torture trying to get down my prescribed (and mandatory) liquid meds because they are all fruit flavored and really sweet. I literally just spent two hours trying to work up the courage to swallow maybe one tablespoon worth of meds. I eventually did but now I feel sick to my (tiny) stomach. Does anyone have any experience or know how I can make these go down any better? Should I have them refilled with no flavor? But what if that's worse?? I'm going to start my protein shakes tomorrow and I can't imagine that will go well at all since they're sweet. But I know I need to start them because I've literally only been able to tolerate water for the past few days and I feel like I am just going to get myself malnourished. :( help!

Liquid meds...
sleevie.wonder replied to sleevie.wonder's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone. Today was slightly easier. Definitely wasn't prepared for such a sensitive stomach! -
Mine was 3/5 too. Can't say that I didn't have pain, but it wasn't anything that I couldn't handle. I barely pushed the button on my morphine pump. Natural labor and birth was 100x's worse than this. Yesterday was awful just because of how sore I still was. It's like my abdomen muscles are super tight and painful and I can't straighten my back out all the way. BUT today is definitely better. One day at a time! Good luck to everyone who has surgeries coming up

My new sleeve pretty much doesn't like anything flavored . Even the flavored liquid medicine I have to take just makes it churn. I sure hope this gets easier... :/ -
Post-op hospital stay
sleevie.wonder replied to KBlood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery yesterday am and am just now about to leave 6pm the next day. They would've kept me another night had I not been doing so well. Just be sure to follow dr.'s orders to a 'T' as well as the nurses and you will be just fine. Don't be afraid for more painkillers, or whatever else you need, that's what the nurses are for! And like so many other say: walk walk walk. I only did like 3 laps around the floor today and that was enough for me. -
Well with every surgery there are risks, but if you have a great surgeon then there's not much to worry about. Yesterday morning before I came to the hospital I was having 2nd thoughts. But then I was like you just jumped through 10 million hoops to get to this day, and now you're second guessing? And then of course snapped out of it. Now here I am sleeved without a regret in the world about it.Either way thank you for keeping this thread updated all this time!

Wow that sounds awful. I finally figured out that it was the morphine drip that was making me queasy, because ever since they switched me over to liquid Vicodin the nausea has gone away (not to mention it works a lot better, go figure.) Sooo hoping to go home this evening. I don't think I can stand another night here, there's all sorts of sick people in this ward as well and most of them are isolated right next door to me! That's the last thing I need. -

Thanks . Last night was kinda rough, I kept waking up extremely nauseous even though I have the anti-nausea patch behind my ear AND the nurse gave me extra nausea meds through my IV. It was extremely hard to keep from throwing up, but I managed. I did do a bug dry heave though, which felt terrible on my insides. Today is better, I'm glad I'm getting off the morphene, that stuff made me too drowsy. Still sore as hell though obviously -
Hi everyone, I made it! Still pretty tired and weak from the anesthesia, but the pain isn't too bad. Got a lot of discomfort in my back/chest from the gas. But other than that doing pretty well. Been sleeping most of the afternoon. Hoping tomorrow is a better day but just super happy it's over with!

Well tomorrow is the day! Slept well but woke up somewhat early and couldn't fall back asleep because of all the thoughts going through my head. Definitely snuggled my daughter extra tight. Hope I sleep well tonight. I will update when I get a check-in time Edit: Just got the call, check in is at 6:30am! -
Good luck! Luckily I am only doing liquid diet for one day (tomorrow is surgery). I am genuinely surprised at how I am not hungry yet, and it's going on 2pm. Helps to keep a bottle of water next to you at all times. Been practicing my sipping!

Hi Kim, my name is Kim and my surgery is tomorrow as well! We got this! I am keeping myself distracted today the best that I can. I am waiting for a call for my check-in time. Trying to keep my anxiety down, so far it's barely working. But hey, it's normal. Best of luck!

12 off in first week pre-op
sleevie.wonder replied to mommyof3sweetboys's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great job! If your family feels like that was too much weight for one week, well, they're going to be in for a rude awakening I'm sure. And most of it is water weight anyway. Still awesome and encouraging nonetheless! Best of luck, when is your big day? -
Thanks for the reminder to take before pics and measurements. Too bad I didn't take a before pic when I was at my heaviest at 320. After this pre-op diet I am around 305. Oh well better late than never! Anxiously waiting for the phone call to tell me what time to go in tomorrow! I have waves of nervousness. One minute I am happy and distracted then WHABAM! My brain is like "Oh hey just thought I'd remind you you're having surgery tomorrow" and then my stomach starts turning. grrrr. Hope I sleep well tonight! Hope everyone's surgeries have gone well so far!

Hope you're doing well! Can't wait to hear an update!

February/March 2014 sleevers
sleevie.wonder replied to rebeccasams's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am able to have any kind if light, healthy request, heart healthy type soup as long as it doesn't have chunks/I strain it/blend it smooth. So I have a bunch of stuff like Progresso light Alfredo, light pot pie, etc. I've just strained or blended them. I've also been living on tomato soup. Add some Mrs dash garlic herb spice stuff and a little parmesean cheese and it's deeeeelish. My doc doesn't or hasn't said anything about sodium. I think it's cause we can't eat enough for it to matter. I've yet to go over the daily sodium amount on myfitnesspal. So blended to smooth soups DO count as liquid? I wasn't sure since they would still be kind of thick. This is all so confusing! Yay! Yeah my SO is at a loss too. But hey, practice makes perfect as I tell him! -

Thanks ladies! I think my shopping trip was a success. But I am still at a loss as to what kind of clear soups to get and strain. I ended up getting a couple healthy choice soups to strain since they had low sodium and more protein. And I picked up some of that Swanson Mexican tortilla soup broth, but am concerned because it has a lot of sodium... -

You girls are so funny I am making my trip to the store today. My list includes: SF Jello SF Popsicles SF Pudding Soups for straining Anything else anyone can suggest? Are these all things I can have during the liquid phase? I am confused as what counts for liquids and what counts for soft... -
Thanks so much!! I'm excited, nervous...every emotion I can feel I'm going through them all! They're calling for a major snowstorm in the Philadelphia area Sunday night into Monday...6-12 inches of snow so I'm praying I get to the hospital safely and everything goes as planned!! I'll be thinking of you all who are also scheduled Monday and am hoping to post as soon as I can! Eek best of luck! I'm not far behind you!
