Sorry guys if you're reading this ---it is the powder room after all. So I started my period a couple days before I was sleeved. Which sucked because that meant having to go through the surgery during my TOM. But now I've been sleeved for ELEVEN days and I'm still having my period!! Granted, it's not a heavy flow at all, but I'm used to a three day period not one that's THIRTEEN days and counting. What the heck is going on?!?

Overcoming The Enemy Of Recovery: Isolation.
enigmachik replied to DSwitcher's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't know, but I know what you mean. I tend to isolate. It's one of the reasons I like this board because this surgery can be somewhat isolating in and of itself since our friends and family can't really relate to what we're going through. -
So I'm ten days post op and every time I have a little ache or pain, my mind starts immediately imagining that I have a leak or some other complication. I really have no reason to think anything is wrong, I'm just totally paranoid. I mean, is it possible to have something pretty major wrong without knowing it? Is anyone else out there paranoid every time they have some unidentified physical sensation?

It's going great so far. I haven't been sleeping well, but other than that I can't complain much. I haven't had any issues with my new tummy so far, not in pain, and I start back to work tomorrow. How has it been going for you?

That's amazing. Congratulations!!

I know it isn't easy. We got into this position because we love food and to think we may never be able to enjoy it like we used to is a tough pill to swallow. But you will enjoy food again and you will get used to the new way of life. In the mean time, you'll also be getting slimmer and healthier. It's not a bad trade off. And speaking of losing weight. You said you are losing very slowly, but I want you to think about something. You're five weeks out, that's 35 days. In 35 days you have lost TWENTY pounds!! That's well over half a pound a DAY! How many times prior to the sleeve did you see weight loss results like that? I'm guessing never, and if you got anywhere close to that, it was short lived. 20 lbs in 35 days is fantastic! Don't compare your numbers to others on here, it's making you feel you aren't doing well when you are doing amazing!! Hang in there. It will get better. Hugs!

5 Days Out, Terrible Insonmnia
enigmachik replied to KikiCC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
omg, I'm having this problem too. Have hardly slept a wink since surgery. It's been bugging me because this was supposed to be my recovery time and now work starts back up again tomorrow and I haven't done a whole lot of resting. I'm hoping though that the long day of work will force me into sleep tomorrow night. I know one of the side effects of my antibiotic is insomnia so I'm hoping once I finish that it will help also. -
Is it considered part of purees, mushies, or softs stage?? I never really ate it before surgery, but for some reason I've been craving it for days now. Can't wait to eat!!!

Boarder Line Fever ?
enigmachik replied to skinnycupcake13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is common to have a low grade fever after surgery for a few days as your body recuperates. Generally as long as it stays below 101 degrees it shouldn't be too much of a concern. If it lasts for more than a few days or if it goes over 100 degrees you should contact your doctor. -
Why You Shouldn't Drink While You're Eating

This video is a really good visual aid to show you why drinking while you are eating can sabotage your weight loss. -
Beware Ladies While Exercising!

Yuck! I'm glad you're okay!! -
The first few days are rough! Hang in there. The drinking got a little easier for me around day five. I'm on day eight now and I still have to be careful not to drink too much at one time, but it's much easier and much less painful. Just take it easy and take care of yourselves!!

Major Headache From My Pre-Op Diet
enigmachik replied to Sherry77's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
omg, my first couple of days on the liquid pre-op were horrible. I had the shakes, was weak, and killer headache. But it gets better, I promise! After a couple of days the headache started to subsided and by day four it was gone. If you can get through the first couple of days, you can get through the whole thing. Just keep reminding yourself why you are doing this. Once you get your sleeve, it's a million times easier. Good luck!! -
