  1. I'm sorry your ride home was so painful That doesn't sound fun at all. I went to Mexico and honestly, I didn't have any trouble with the flight home. I really wasn't in any pain at all. I had a little discomfort at the main incision site, but really no pain to speak of. I flew all the way across the country and didn't have any issues.

    Getting Hit On After Surgery

The reason it makes me nervous is because let's say now that I've lost weight, you are willing to date me. What happens if we date, fall in love, get married. And then I gain the weight back? Will you go running because you're no longer attracted to me just like you weren't before I lost the weight in the first place? I know that is a risk with anyone, but I find it especially concerning for someone who knew me when I was heavy and would only date me when I was thin.

    Why Dud U Choose Vgs

I chose the VSG because I had heard of so many complications and revisions down the road for those who had chosen to go with the lapband. I also did not like the idea of all the upkeep with the band (refills etc) and having a foreign object in my body. I decided against the RNY because I didn't like the idea of rerouting body parts and also was really nervous about malabsorption, dumping syndrome etc. The VSG seemed the most logical choice because it doesn't cause malabsorption, doesn't cause dumping, doesn't reroute anything, doesn't require regular fills/unfills and doesn't "slip" like a band or leave anything foreign in the body. Although taking out 85% of your stomach is a pretty huge decision, it seemed the most "natural" of the weight loss surgeries available. Also people who get the VSG tend to lose just as much as people who get gastric bypass, it just takes longer. And longer isn't a bad thing; it gives your body more time to adjust and cuts down on some of the skin issues. I am very happy with my sleeve so far. Good luck with whatever route you choose. In the end, it's a personal decision. Here's to your health!

    What? I Have Hip Bones?

I love discovering new bones!! Congrats!
  5. Yayy! That makes me so happy for you
  6. I've lost a little over 43 lbs and up until today no one had even noticed. Not my friends, not my family, no one. But today a co-worker asked me if I'm losing weight. Finally! I'm not crazy about added attention, but it was a little disheartening to have lost this much weight and having nobody even realize.
  7. I can understand. My hair is very long (almost to my ankles). It's one of the reasons I'm so afraid of the hair loss that has just begun because cutting it really isn't an option. I hear that long hair shows the hair loss a lot more clearly. Oh well. It's in the Lord's hands. If I need to be bald and humbled, at least I'll be doing it in a smaller body. LOL!
  8. I don't want to lose mine either, but it has started within the last week or so. It's scary. I hope it will only be noticeable to me and not to anyone else.

    Cooked Rice

I have no problem with rice, but I can't eat much of it. It fills my sleeve very quickly and then I don't have room for good things like protein and veggies.
  10. I experienced something similar the first couple of weeks after surgery. Then it went away. I hardly ever experience hunger now....although I hear it sometimes comes back around the six month mark (I'm only three months out). Oh, and make sure you're taking a PPI just in case it's not actually hunger, but acid.
  11. I divorced my gallbladder in 2010. I remember the pain well. You'll be so much happier when it's out!
  12. I miss big sandwiches. I mean the kind with thick homemade bread. I could tolerate perhaps a bite of that, but I can't eat much bread at all so it's just not the same. Another thing that's changed a lot is that I used to LOVE coconut water. Now for some reason, I can't stand the taste of it. It tastes totally different to me now. I don't know why. lol

    Whats That Tube?

I had one. It doesn't really hurt when it's in, but it can be a little uncomfortable when trying to sleep, move around etc. It doesn't hurt coming out either, but it does feel really weird coming out!

Wow. That's awesome!! Enjoy every minute of it

    Stuck

Yes, try just taking teeny tiny baby sips for now. After the swelling in your tummy goes down you'll be able to take bigger sips.

Congrats! You're almost to the loser's bench

    Spanx Tops? Lol...but Serious...

I don't really know enough to know if there is much of a difference, but I do know that plenty of men wear the compression type under clothes after WLS.

    Passport

I wouldn't risk it. You are investing a few thousand dollars at least into the surgery, it's worth the peace of mind to spend an extra $100 on a passport. Besides, the passport is good for 10 years and after you lose all the weight you might want to treat yourself to an island vacation. lol

    Stretching Your Sleeve?

You won't stretch your pouch out by drinking liquids. Don't worry, it may seem like you are able to consume a lot right now, but once you get on solid foods you will start to feel the restriction quite quickly!
  20. I seem to be on the slower end of the losing scale, but I'm okay with that as long as I keep losing. I was sleeved July 6th and have lost 42 lbs.

    Passport

Go to Walgreens and ask for a Passport photo. Then bring the passport photo and all your IDs to the post office. Most post offices will also take the passport photo, but if you go to Walgreens first it will cost half as much money.

    Faith Matters! Or Faith Matters?

Yes, faith matters! When I first started thinking about having this done, I had some things to wrestle with as far as my faith is concerned. Part of me felt that going through the surgery meant I was failing God...Like if I only had enough faith I could do this on my own....If I trusted God more I would depend on Him instead of running to food...or running to surgery. Those kinds of thoughts. Yet, the more I prayed about it, the more every door just started opening for me and the more peace I felt about going through with it. I realized that this is a tool like many other tools and I could learn to serve Him better if I cut out the temptation. I also found the verse that talks about cutting off your hand or plucking out your eye very comforting. Gluttony is a sin. If I can cut out a part of my body to keep from falling into that sin, isn't that better than not doing it? I'm soo happy I went through with this surgery. My faith has skyrocketed since then. I don't have the guilt and anxiety about food that I once did. God kept me through the procedure and is keeping me still. He is a faithful God!
  23. How many sleevers at least three months post op are still having to take antacids? Did you find you needed less at some point?

I felt weak for the first couple of weeks after surgery. After that I was fine!
