The Stuck Feeling In Your Chest
enigmachik replied to healthiermom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with all the above posts. Also, it will get better. I had that feeling A LOT for the first couple of months, but now I don't have any issues. -
Welcome to the board

5 weeks out is still really early. You may be eating too much, too fast, or it might be too tough for you. Try eating less and make sure it's really soft. Also take teeny tiny little bites and chew really well before you swallow.

I had a never ending period after my surgery. It lasted for weeks. Then I only had about a week off and my second cycle started. The second cycle lasted over two weeks. Then I got a couple of weeks off and had a third cycle...also longish. By my fourth cycle it seemed to even back out to normal. The surgery and weight loss reek havoc on our hormones so hopefully that's all it is for you. Sorry to hear about all the UTI issues you've been having. Those are the worst! I'm glad you're going to your gyno, hopefully it will put your concerns at ease.

Omg It Was A Large!
enigmachik replied to IweightNoMore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Woohoo!! That's awesome -
It's completely normal. People always think they aren't losing fast enough. Don't make the mistake of trying to pre-determine how fast you should be losing. And don't compare yourself to others. Stalls are a normal part of the process. I know it's frustrating, but the sooner you embrace that, the happier your journey will be.

Pcp Scared The Crap Outta Me
enigmachik replied to ASKSARAH - Sleeve's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
A lot of PCPs are really afraid of malpractice suits. When you have a major surgery (especially an elective surgery) there are always risks of complications. Your PCP may be afraid to treat any complications because a wrong move on their part could lead to a lawsuit. This kind of fear is especially prevalent with WLS because many PCPs don't really have much education on them, particularly if they've been a doctor for more than a few years. -
Ninja Blender Vs Magic Bullet ?which Is Easiet To Clean Up?
enigmachik replied to becksnky's topic in Food and Nutrition
I have an oyster single serve blender. I use it everyday. It worked really well in the beginning but after a few months of daily use, it doesn't work nearly as well. It is easy to clean though! -

Soy Milk, Almond Milk, Cow Milk?
enigmachik replied to Mini Me Wanna~Be's topic in Liquids (stage 1)
I love all the alternative milks and recommend any of them...they just don't really work for pudding. You really need the casein in order to thicken up the pudding. I wonder if the eggwhite idea would work. Someone should experiment and report back. haha. -
I was like that for the first couple of months. It gets better!

Soy Milk, Almond Milk, Cow Milk?
enigmachik replied to Mini Me Wanna~Be's topic in Liquids (stage 1)
You could buy your hubby tofu pudding. It sounds weird, but it's quite tasty! -
Soy Milk, Almond Milk, Cow Milk?
enigmachik replied to Mini Me Wanna~Be's topic in Liquids (stage 1)
although sometimes people will use half as much non-dairy milk with the pudding mix...and that makes it somewhat thicker, but it's really not the same. Perhaps you can try Lactaid? -
Soy Milk, Almond Milk, Cow Milk?
enigmachik replied to Mini Me Wanna~Be's topic in Liquids (stage 1)
non-dairy milks don't work in pudding. It's the casein (animal protein) in milk that makes the pudding thicken. Without it, it really doesn't work. -
Pasta Alternatives?
enigmachik replied to Carly4HandinSD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you can use Shirataki noodles. They are in the refrigerated section. They are shaped like pasta, but they are made out of yam root and soy. Very low in calories and very low in carbs. They are also gluten free. -
thanks for the info!

How uncomfortable? Is it possible that you are eating too fast or not chewing enough?

7 Months Out! 124 Lbs Lighter!
enigmachik replied to cassieh's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
wow. you look great!!! -
The first few weeks aren't easy, but they are worth it. Getting all your liquids in, especially newly sleeved is quite a challenge. You might feel like you are just drinking all day long and even with doing that there is a good chance that you still won't make your liquid requirement for the day (early on). I'm not saying that to discourage you, I'm saying that to prepare you. That being said, isn't a couple of tough weeks worth it for the new-found freedom you will have once you've lost the weight? You are going to be healthier, stronger, lighter, more flexible, and won't be held back by your weight anymore. You and your husband's concerns are legitimate, but think about what another five, ten, twenty years of being overweight will cost you in terms of quality of life, health, doctor bills etc... Personally I think a few tough weeks at the beginning were well worth it! I think most of us on here would agree. Think about why you wanted to do this in the first place. Then decide for yourself. Be comfortable with your own choice (either way) and don't let anyone change your mind.
-
I had this problem for the first three or four weeks after being sleeved. After that I started sleeping normally again.

I haven't gotten far enough along to share my success. I can say that I share this exact fear and I'm willing to bet that many, if not most of us on here share that fear. Let's hope that through hard work, and supporting each other we can slay those fears once and for all.

6 Months Post Opp
enigmachik replied to biggcatt88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Six months is a REALLY common time for people to experience stalls in their weight loss. You might want to shake things up a bit to get things moving again, but more than likely you'll be seeing the scale move in the right direction again very soon anyway -
I'm offended that you came right out and said that you were offended. Surely, there is a more politically correct way to express dissatisfaction!
