Melly, So sorry you had a bad round after surgery! I was so worried but all went great. Dr.A is not stingy with the pain meds at all. It was a great experience! I pray you get better each day. I am out of hospital , at hotel, flying home tomorrow afternoon. Keep us posted on how you are feeling!

I am only 2 days out but plain water makes me feel yucky. Juice or even ice chips go down better for me.

When they say they are going to give you something to make you "relax", they really mean, we are going to knock you out! I remembered nothing after my "relax" medicine!

I was just sleeved on Thursday of this week. No food for me for a few weeks yet but I would love to meet up with all of you. I am thinking the third or fourth Sat. Of month would work better for me with just having surgery.

I just got my sleeve on Thursday 8/02 with Dr. Alvarez. I cannot say enough good about this man or his staff. I have been very well cared for here and I have been in very little pain. When I woke up, I had to ask my hubby if they did my surgery, there was No pain. I got ice chips this morning and they took my pain meds off so there is some gas pain and very slight incision pain ( the one they take the tummy out of is most painful). I have been walking and at 5 PM they started us on Water. I have a lot of new tummy gurgles!! No nausea at all, praying that I don't get any either! Dr. Alvarez is a wonderful surgeon, he makes you feel so at ease. He was definitely the most perfect surgeon for me. His hospital is an older facility but very clean and they make you feel at home. His assistant, Jessica is wonderful, as well as his assistants. My experience has been wonderful!

Yesterday I did not walk until late evening. Mouth freshner sprays are near the toothpaste/ mouthwash at Walmart, target, walgreen, cvs, any of those places. We have our laptop and iPad from home but Dr has IPads for us to use and this room has a PC too. No headache at all, no nausea . Talked to dr in the hall on his way to OR and he said that comes with ice chips if you are going to have any. I started ice chips this morning and took a shower. Put on my own PJ's and started walking. They ask you to do 3 rounds every 30 minutes, ice chips evey two mins. Tests are done right after you speak with Dr.A in his office, the walk you to the hospital and put your things in a room, take you to the X-ray and lab. Then you go to your room, get on your gown and wait for IV. I did not go first so I had a wait till about 10:30. They give you the woozy meds right after the put you on the surgery gurney, it knocked me out instantly!!! I woke up at 5PM but Jessica said she got me up and walked me to my bed, I do not remember that! We have AT&T. But in certain parts of the hospital ou are roaming so my phone is off and I make calls from the hospital numer in our paperwork. Let me know if you need other questions answered!

Thanks Kimmiet, I haVe read so much about nausea and pain from gas, so I was expecting the worst and got the best. I am one happy new sleever today!

I feel a slight pain on my left side(where stomach was removed). I got up and walked the about 5:15 because I had some slight chest pain. It was nothing compared to the way I have heard it described. Dr.A is so caring (his looks aren't bad either). He told Mark that my surgey was beautiful, my liver looks great. Jessica is wonderful. She took Mark out to lunch and he really liked her too. All the staff are very kind. Most of the ***ht nurses speak very little or no English and they are in and out all ***ht long. Can't carry on casual conversation with them at all. Jesus is the one that takes care of Dr.A's patients, he speaks English very well. I just cannot tell you how I am amazed that I did this and i am so happy !!! You will be too. It is just such a good feeling! I know that your are ICandithis will be the same after it is over. The mouth dryness is the worst thing but i just wet a washcloth and wiped my lips, swished and spit water, I use blistex medicated cream on my lips (not waxey or greasy ) and I also bought a tube of the spray mouth freshener Binaca. Those have been life savers for me so far! I keep them with my glasses in a clam shell large case and the stay right beside me in the bed. I will keep you posted on my day today!

Quick up date... I am sleeved:) woke up in no pain whatsoever. DrAlvarez told hubby that is good! Very groggy now so I writ more later!!

Stormwarning, Egg drop soup is like a chicken broth base and they whip egg, like you would to scramble them, then once the broth boils they whisk in the egg. If you like poached eggs you would like it, if not the you probably wouldn't. Theirs here had 3 or 4 carrots chunks and 4 peas in it. It was good. There are also other soups, one was chicken and something and she said it was a broth based soup. They also had wonton soup and you can just take the wontons out and it is usually like a veggie broth. They are $3.99 or $4.99 per large bowl. There is also a microwave in the room if you want to bring soup and heat it in the room. There is a mini fridge but ours is barely cool. The room is huge with 2 queen beds and tons of room, not crowded at all. I wish I had brought some of the Lipton creamy soup packets and a mug to make soup here. Since you are driving, you could bring more stuff. Also, there is a Mexican restaurant that is recommended in our paperwork, but the girl at the desk said it was quite a long walk and it was at the hottest part of the day. Plus it is on a busy four lane road and there is no sidewalk. We did not want to get run over going to dinner! We just walked the quarter mile or so to the Chinese place. Think happy thoughts for me tomorrow! I am no longer counting days but hours....crazy!!!

We are not in San Antonio, now, or do you want the address for the Eagle Pass Holiday Inn Express? It is just as you enter Eagle Pass, right off the highway. Front Desk says address is 2007 north Veteran's Blvd. Rosy is coming back at 7:20 in the morning. We have been sitting out by the pool and we walked over to the little ChopChop Chinese place for egg drop soup shortly after we got here. I bought a second bowl for my last meal for a long while :0 hopefully I can find something to occupy my time to***ht! I am thinking of having hubby check out Hawaii vacations with me online. We will soon be married 30 years, gotta celebrate it somehow.

Slenderella So glad to hear that you are doing so well! My turn tomorrow and I am a bit nervous. I have made it to the hotel, tomorrow morning it is across the border and into the OR. Still cannot believe it!

At the airport in KC...I am really on my way. This is real!!!!! Made it through with my protein shakes but I had to get a full body pat down !

Susie, soup was so good! I chose the French onion, every thing else was cream based or had noodles. It had the least calories too. Boy, was I hungry!! I have a protein shake for tonight and one for tomorrow , if they will allow me to take it on the plane. Storm, it has certainly come quickly for me. The last week has been extra busy and I just didn't realize my time was here so quickly. I will post tomorrow after we get to eagle pass! Going to try to get some sleep, the wake up call is for 3:30 AM!
