Our insurance has a $5000.00 dedutible for any hospital stay. Also, I went to Dr. Alvarez for my sleeve surgery on August 2. He is an amazing surgeon. I understand that there are less expensive Dr's in Mexico but he truly is a wonderful surgeon. I woke up in No pain and have felt really great since my surgery. They take really good care of you and you are in a hospital the whole time. They transport you there and back so everything is taken care of. You even get your after care meds. There is a Dr. Alvarez board on this forum if you want other testimonies.

They do have a chicken meatball in the refrigerated foods, not in the freezer.

I miss Hood Carb Countdown with the Unjury unflavored protein powder to make a protein drink. i also add a spoonful of Greek Yogurt for extra protein and creaminess. It is good, so much better than the ready to drink canned drinks.

I fully agree with SweetSusie, Dr Alvarez is a very skilled surgeon. He is in a hospital, even though it is older, you get VERY good care there. Dr. Alvarez and Dr. Gabe (assistant Dr) are so kind and caring. If you need anything at all, they make sure you get it. I had a wonderful experience with Dr. A. as did many before and after me. I will recommend him to anyone that asks about Mexico.

So glad you are doing well. Dr. A is AMAZING. I am two weeks out and feeling so good. Sometimes I have to remind myself that two weeks ago I was just leaving the hospital! Best of luck to you ~

It sounds crazy but I had very little pain from surgery. I was sleeved two weeks ago by Dr. Alvarez in Mexico. No pain, other than the IV insertion and some sore tummy muscles. No nausea, very few gas pains from the gas used during surgery. I have felt amazing since I woke up. I had pain yesterday from my tummy not liking my BP meds. That was the worst I have hurt in this whole process.

I use the unflavored and chicken for my main protein source. I just re ordered and got a sample pack to take with me when I out of the house. I add the unflavored to soups, shakes and milk. I do not think it has a smell or aftertaste at all. Muscle milk, Oh Yeah and Primeire shakes all gag me though.

I like the Hood a lot. It is what I can get down with protein powder mixed in.

Congrats to you on making the choice to do this. I had surgery two weeks ago and feel great. It is a great thing to do for our health and quality of life!

I REALLY hate most Protein drinks. I just spent $2.99 on Oh, Yeah drink. I could barely choke down half of it. Either people get paid to write reviews about these drinks or my tastes are WAY off. I had my daughter and hubby taste it and they agreed it is the worst one yet for having the nasty aftertaste. I have better luck buying Hood Carb Countdown dairy drink and mixing the unjury unflavored in it. If you have not ordered Unjury, it is very good. I have only tried unflavored and the chicken Soup but they are drinkable without the artificial sweet nasty aftertaste. I get mushy foods next week and I am so thankful for the chance to have some different tastes to look forward to!

I am 54 and had sleeve surgery on Aug2. I am 2 weeks, 2 days out and feel great. I have had very little pain and everything is healing up well. Another week to go before I get mushy foods! Looking forward to something besides liquids! Really looking forward to losing weight, losing my medications and joint pain!!

I went to Mx, my surgeon was Dr. Alvarez. You cross the border at Ragle Pass Texas to get to his hospital. I know he isles expensive than some I'm MX but he does a wonderful surgery and is a truly caring Dr. I am 2 weeks out and feeling awesome!

I had my surgery in Mexico. Dr. Alvarez was my surgeon. I woke up from surgery in NO pain, had to ask my husband if they did it. I had some minor gas pain once I started ice chips and water gave me heartburn. I have had very little pain from insicions, only tenderness in my abdomen. I have had c sections and gallbladder removed, this has been the easiest surgery I have ever experienced.

That is awesome! It gives me hope that one day I will be getting compliments too. I am only 2 weeks out and losing slowly but I will take any loss. I know know that I will only go down from this point on!

I will try to make it on Saturday! I will bring my non sleeved hubby along. I cannot have coffee yet but I will bring a cup is something that is liquid. See you there!

You need to call your Dr. and let him know Pepcid is not working for you. I know that some people need a prescription strength medication. I take Zantac twice a day and have NO issues at all so far. Call them and let them know you are suffering.

Campbell's cheesy broccoli cream soup is good. I. Just tried it tonight. You have to blend it before you warm it but it has good flavor. I was surprised, or I am just really hungry tonight!

10 days was all I could handle it. My husband is super gentle and he did not hurt me at all. It was great my Dr. says whenever you feel comfortable, that comes sooner for some people.

I think we all have sex after surgery when we feel ready. My husband was concerned about it being painful for me so he would not even "go there" . I finally brought it up and told him it was going to be fine. Ten days was all I could stand ! I go to the same Dr. As Stormwarning and he does tell us that we can resume sex whenever we are comfortable. Some people get comfortable faster than others don't let it get you worked up if it was two days or twenty. It is a personal matter.

That seems so early to have real foods. Mr Dr. says no food until after 4 weeks. Food sounds good right now but I am sticking to my liquids

I have the same question. I go in and change them and they sometimes do not change! If you go to the top of the page click on your user name, you will see several things that pop up, click on MY Tickers, a new page will come up with a way to change them or delete them. I had to delete mine once because they would not change. Not sure what is up with them. Hope that helps you
