How The Hell Do You Drink Isopure?
allnewme replied to Carrie's Journey's topic in Food and Nutrition
You have to mix the Crystal light w 32 oz of water, add ice and Isopure and still hope that you can get past the nasty aftertaste. To answer the question of how do you drink Isopure, You don't. I bought several bottles and still have most of them in my pantry. BIG mistake! -

Unflavored Protein Powder
allnewme replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the UNJURY and I have never tasted it in anything. I add it to low carb chocolate milk for protein drinks, to soups and yogurt. I love the Unjury chicken, chocolate and unflavored. It is high quality medical protein and so much better than the RTD canned drinks. -
I have heard to mix them with like 32 oz of water and a similar flavor of Crystal Light. I tried and after three days had choked down one bottle. I know people say they like them but I just cannot do it.

I found that I could work for a few hours the second week home but then was zapped of energy. You are barely getting liquids down and the clear protein was so nasty tasting that I could not get much of it in each day. I needed a nap every afternoon, still do some days I m three weeks out tomorrow and I feel good . almost normal but I still get tired each afternoon. Hopefully that will pass very soon. I have been taking the sub lingual B12 each morning, that is supposed to help with energy. (You can get it at Sam's Club). So glad that your surgery got moved up. You will just love Dr. A, he is truly the kindest Dr. I have ever met, very caring. My husband really liked him too. When you get there, the hospital looks older but do not let that scare you. They take VERY good care of you there. The floor nurses do not speak English but Jessica is there all day and Jesus at night and they are both fluent in English. I was thrilled with my care, woke up in NO pain and had none of the nausea or pain that others have complained of having. They give you great meds in your IV to keep all that away. I wish you all the best! You are in great hands.

August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
allnewme replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think you could change your name like to include your maiden name or just make up a faux name to make a new account. I have seen lots of them where they do not use their real name. -
I prefer Unjury because it tastes good (chocolate and the chicken) and I cannot taste the unflavored in soup or milk. It is top quality medical protein and tastes so much better than most other protein drinks. The RTD stuff in cans is VERY sicky sweet.

I'm 55 And Had My Sleeve Done On August 8
allnewme replied to CreateHealth's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have struggled with bathroom issues too. I have only gone twice since I have been home. It seems to be very common so I am not going to stress out over it. I plan to try the ricotta bake. It sounds really good anything but liquids sound good! Thankfully I am not hungry most of the time. I am enjoying that. Counting down the days until I can have a scrambled egg!! -

August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
allnewme replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I loved the pain meds my Dr. Used in Mexico. They were great! I felt no pain and did not get sick from them like here in the US hospitals. -
Took me three days to drink one bottle, even mixing it with other stuff. Finally found that a Sonic slush would mask the flavor but it was so sweet I couldn't handle that either. Not trying to be negative but the aftertaste is awful.

The Stuff They Don't Tell You
allnewme replied to Parker's Dad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hiccup a lot, never did that before. More in the morning than later in the day. My nose runs, it is a signal that I should not eat another bite. I am still on full liquids and it does it. I also am very sensitive to sweet tastes. The RTD shakes gag me with the strong sweet taste. I have to use twice as much water in any of the drink powder sticks, they are super sweet! You have nasty breath all the time, I hate to breath on people. Also I burp so much more than before. My new frankentummy gurgles and makes crazy noises when I drink, especially warm drinks!! Never trust a fart... Those are true words!! -
Need Help, Have A Lot Of Questions
allnewme replied to determnd2bthin's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
It is ok to be a bit nervous about surgery but don't let nerves get the best of you! I went to Mexico to Dr. Alvarez for surgery on Aug. 2 and had a great experience there. Protein powders are hard because we all have different tastes. I have tried some that people rave about and they make me gag. I prefer Unjury, you order it online and it is a bit pricey but it is high quality medical protein. I love the chicken soup, unflavored and chocolate. They taste good with NO nasty sweetener aftertaste. My opinion, do not waste your money on ready to drink shakes. If you want to try one, go to Gnc Or Vitamin Shoppe and by single cans of different brands to sample. Do the same with Isopure in the glass bottles and the protein bullets. I personally gag at the thought of drinking the last two bit other people like them. It is all about personal taste. Good luck to you on your surgery! It will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself!! -
Happy Snaps From The Surgeon
allnewme replied to puppyphat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is so cool! I asked my Dr. How large my old stomach was and he said "It was pretty large". I look at the hole they made in me to take it out and it is amazing it is so tiny. This surgery is pretty amazing! I am so thankful for the Dr's that worked to perfect it so that I could have it done! -
You truly look amazing! Congrats to you !!

Feeling In Denial ?!?!?
allnewme replied to TheNewSusie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Susie, I feel the same way when I read about people saying they lost 25-35 lbs in a month. I have been on liquids for 5 weeks now and am down 17 lbs. I feel like it should be twice that gone but my body works differently. I have been a little sad and want to ask why this is not working. I know that it is, I know that I cannot stay at this weight and eat the amount of food we can eat. Being diabetic makes it tougher to lose the weight too. I started out at 227, so I know I won't lose as fast as others that have more weight to lose. You really are doing great, you will lose and get to your goal. Sometimes our bodies are just slower. I have only lost a few oz. In almost a week. I don't like it, but I know that once it is gone, I will never see that number on the scale again. Be positive sweetie. If you ever need to talk, you have my number. -
You can find Medifast online, they have their own website, there are some weight loss centers that carry Medifast products. If you live near a large city you may have luck finding a center. They sell several different snack type items. they also have crackers that have protein in them, they are kind of bland but they have protein you can also find Medifast products on EBAY.

Kansas City Area Sleevers?
allnewme replied to Believinginlisa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is awesome that they have protein drinks, I should have had one at the last meeting, I stopped at QT and bought the Oh, Yeah brand and it was so disgusting. Not making that mistake again. Hopefully I will get to be there on the 27th. -

allnewme replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Best wishes to all of you being sleeved tomorrow. Don't let your nerves get the best of you. You have made a great choice for your life. A year from now you will be looking back with no regrets. There are hard days at first but they don't stay around long at all. -
Kansas City Area Sleevers?
allnewme replied to Believinginlisa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for setting up the meeting on Saturday. It was so good to meet you, your husband and BikerChick519. I look forward to our next meeting. I am still on liquids for another week and then finally SOFT FOODS Hope my new stomach likes something that I get to eat!! -
I live in the Midwest and you can find Flat Out breads @ Walmart, HyVee, and some Price Choppers. They are usually kept near the deli cases, not on the bread isle. They do make yummy pizza. Can't wait for real food so I can try one.
