    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

My Dr says we need to take the acid meds twice a day for 3-6 months. I take Zantac morning and night and I do not have any issues with heartburn or reflux. It also helps you to not have hunger. Hope it gets better for you. It really does get easier each day

    Dr. Alvarez

I had surgery with Dr.A on 8/02. Crossing the border was no problem at all out of Eagle Pass, there were 3 checkpoints on the way back into the USA, they each took about 2 minutes. The hospital is about one mile across the border, no long drive to get there. I felt completely safe in the van, at the hospital and in the town. Dr.A would not be having people cross the border for elective surgery if our lives were at risk. He lives in this town, it is his home. While there could be some random act of violence, as there are daily in most American cities, there was no sign of any violent activity anywhere near the border or the hospital. Jessica goes with your travel companion when they leave the hospital for meals or shopping to interpret for them since most people in this border city do not speak English. She took me to a store right next to the hospital to buy candy for my daughters boyfriend. He was raised in MX and I wanted to take him some of his favorite treats from home. Dr.A is absolutely an amazing surgeon. He has a truly wonderful, caring staff. I would make the trip there and back again in a heartbeat. I had wonderful care there. My PCP has no problem doing my lab work for me, if he did, I would go to Dr. A to have it done.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

I took my one month pictures this morning since I won't have time to do them before church tomorrow. I measured and cannot believe the inches I have lost in one month. I have to have some time to calculate the total but it was several! It amazes me! So thankful that I had this surgery. I am wearing pants today that would not zip or button before surgery. Now I can hold them out from my waist. Whoo-Hoo! Best of luck to all the August sleevers Hang in there and know that everyday gets easier. I can't wait to see how we all look at Christmas!!

    Dr. Alvarez

I was sleeved by Dr. A on 8/02...one month tomorrow. I am so very glad that I went to MX and had him for my surgeon. I had very little pain, no nausea and my incisions look perfect! You won't be sorry, even if you have to save and pay cash. I have zero regrets!
  5. You are doing great Giina! Almost one month out for us! This month has flown by. I am such a slow loser but as long as I get to my goal, I try not to get too worried over it. Stalls come and they go, we just have to go with the flow...
  6. I am four weeks out today and feel like I finally am returning to normal. Today is the first day I made it all day at work and did not need to rest for a few in the afternoon. Hopefully I am turning a corner. I have been taking vitamins since I got home from having surgery. Get a sub-lingual B 12, that helps with energy. We won't feel totally normal until we are consuming more calories and our bodies are all healed inside. Hope you feel better quickly!!

    Hello Puree!

I was sleeved on 8/02 and just this week got to have pureed foods. The first few days have been challenging, to say the least. I thought I was ready to eat food but have found that liquids go down MUCH easier. I had some refried beans tonight and brought home a container that probably has 4-5 more meals in it. They taste good but just not much space in there and if I take one bite more than I should, I regret for at least 30 minutes. The best thing I have tried so far is grits with some extra milk to make them thinner. I have not tried blended meats at all yet. Good luck to all of you getting to eat now. My advice is to go slowly........
  9. So happy to hear that it has worked out for you to be operated on!! Yeah!! Wishing you the best of luck. You have had enough stress before you get to the hospital!!!
  10. My Dr had us taking pills for pain when we left the hospital. They had to be smaller than an M&M. I only missed the day after surgery of not taking blood pressure meds. I take several vitamins and my Zantac each day, 46 minutes apart.

    Unflavored Protein Powder

I think it is, there are some people that have said they bought unflavored nectar protein powder at GNC. Unjury is available through their website and some bariatric surgeons offices.
  14. Mamamelly, I understand. I stalled for a few days too. It has to happen. Hide your scale sweetie, weigh in once a week on Thursday since that was our surgery day. You are doing great. Just keep on doing what you know that you gotta do and you will be fine. You gotta friend me on myfitnesspal too We are going to win this battle, my sleeve sister!!
  15. You are looking so great! congrats!!
  16. I am less than a month out and what I hate right now is the lack of energy. It seems that I am ok one minute and totally zapped the next. So far, that is all that I do not like.
  17. You look great after just 2 months!! Your face has changed so much. I will remember your lemon juice tip. I buy a flavored white balsamic peach vinegar and used to have it the same way each night. Have not tried it since surgery. I think I may try it to see how it sets in my stomach. Best of luck with your weight loss!

    Six Week Checkup

That is awesome....sound as though you are doing great !
  19. For me VSG surgery was pretty painless. I had my gall bladder removed and woke up feeling like my insides had been burned. Two C-sections with massive incisions that took weeks to heal. VSG any day is the easiest and least painful.

    Constipation

Have any of you tried Smooth Move tea? It is made by Traditional Medicinals, I believe. It comes in three flavors and tastes good. I make 2 bags in one cup and drink it hot. Usually works the next day, if not, I drink it again. My husband uses it all the time too. I have issues but I have not tried the tea yet. I will do that this weekend. If that won't work, I will get MOM .
  22. Sorry, my spell check changed mix to miss....I still drink Hood with unflavored powder. It is good.

How The Hell Do You Drink Isopure?

I really am not usually negative but Isopure is so bad to me. I know some people like it though. I do not understand that!
