June 20, 2012 - okay, so, wow! I'm still working on writing my story as part of the "process" so I doubt it will all fit here :-)

The short version - I'm 43, I have a 10 year old son and I've been obese to severely morbidly obese since childhood and now I'm done. I've undertaken a great deal of "internal" work in the last 3 years which has led me to a healthier state of mind. At this point in my life, I'm choosing to have the gastric sleeve - for all the 'right' (if there is such a thing) reasons.

The insurance has been submitted. I am waiting now - but we are hoping that I can have the surgery in July.

I know that I cannot succeed in a vacuum - and while my husband, son and friends are very supportive - my mother is less so (or, more so - she has been trying to force me into surgery for a decade or more). Let's just say that her support doesn't feel very much like help. At any rate, I'm trying to surround myself with the positive - people, information, messages, self-talk...VST is part of that support. I'm glad to be here.
