Hey everyone! On June 22, at 7:30am, I am getting my band! I am nervous and excited. I have butterflies but kind of freaked out at the same time! But I know that I am making the right choice. I know that this is the begining of a very exciting journey where at the end I will be a new me. I'll have energy, I'll run around with my daughter, my blood pressure will be down and I'll be that much less at risk for diabetes. It's scarey! But its time to change! Wish me luck Homies!!

It's good to hear that you are doing so well! I am waiting to hear back from my surgeon with a date. Looks like maybe mid June or early July. I'm getting banded at Beth Israel in Boston.

Honey, I am sooo sorry. We need this surgery to lose weight because it's sooo hard. And for insurance companies to put up these obstacles is just mean.

I have an appointment with a surgeon on May 15. I need the 15th to get here as soon as it can! I have heard so many great things from all of you that I want to get on my journey as soon as I can! GIVE ME MY BAND DAMMIT!!! However, I've heard alot about being on a liquid diet right before the surgery. This scares me. Does everyone have to go on a liquid diet? It's freaking me out a little! Hey! Where is everyone getting those really cool little avatars?

Hello everyone: I'm new here and thrilled to death to find a lap band community who knows what I am going through. I haven't been banded yet, but I have completed the screening process at Beth Israel hospital in Boston and have an appointment next month with a surgeon. I finally have hope. I had lost hope in ever losing weight because I have tried everything twice only to lose weight and gain it back plus some more for good measure. I have started to let friends and family in on my plan. 99% of them have been so supportive which is such releif. However, there was one friend who was less than supportive. She said stuff like, "you should just be happy with who you are." Then she says "why don't you just find an exercise you like and stick with it instead." If it were that easy, then none of us would be here. It made me kind of sad, it was like she was going out of her way to bring me down. And to top it off she says, "You know, sometimes the surgeries don't work." Anyone else dealing with a negative response to their surguries?

Honey, it sounds like you need a new PCP. Mine was very supportive because he knows my wieght has been an issue since birth! I know how you feel, I had a good friend rain all over my parade. It made me very sad because she did everything she could to bring me down. Oh well. As far as your MD saying try Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem? That is total BS!! I've been on Jenny Craig. I lost a lot of wieght and then gained a lot more back. It's such a scam. To lose wieght and keep it off you have to keep eating their expensive food. When you stop, it all comes right back. They never really show you how to eat.
