Hello all: My surgery is next Friday the 25th and I'm getting REALLY nervous. My stomach is literally in knots to the point where I feel nausiated. It started last night. I know I've made the right decision but I've never had surgery before and don't know how my body will react to all of this. My dh asked me if I was nervous or excited this morning and I didn't know what to say. I have mixed feelings. Oh well, guess this will pass somehow.

Hi Ronda: If you don't mind me asking, what's the name of the doctor that banded you in '05? -
Thank you SOOOOOOO very much for your continued efforts in creating and keeping up with the A-May-zing bandster calendar. You are TRULY appreciated! Thanks again!

Anyone in Dallas/Fort Worth?
weightingtolose replied to Lotsacurves's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello: I live in Saginaw and will be banded by Dr. Marsden on May 25th. He's actually done 2 of my friends and they have had FANTASTIC results. I believe he is conducting a seminar at "The Surgery Center of Hurst" tomorrow night @ 7 pm. I met someone on this message board a while back and she is using him as well. We've met in peron and she is a jewel. Good luck and welcome to lapband land! -
You look AMAAAAAZZZZINNNG! CONGRATS ON ACHIEVING YOUR GOAL. I will be banded on the 25th and will use you as my inspiration along with others on this board who are doing a FANTASTIC job! Have a blessed day!

Congratulation on your approval! I rec'd my approval first week of May and am scheduled for surgery on May 25th. If you have a preop class on Tuesday, you will most likely become a May bandster! Wooo Hoooo!!! Good luck and let us know when you have a date. -
Were you drug tested before surgery?

That was one of my requirements for insurance approval. I thought it was a little out of the ordinary to say the least. -
I have yet to have my surgery but plan to schedule mine for May 23rd or 25th. I have a question in regards to pre-op / post-op diet. Has anyone tried Isopure Protein drink while on the pre-op / post-op diet? If so, do you think it helped curb your appetite, hinder your ability to lose weight, etc...? My husband is a health NUT and was telling me Isopure has the MOST protein in shake form on the market today. Someone on one of the threads was using it but stated it made them gain weight. Two scoops of the chocolate flavor contains 220 calories and 50g of protein. What are others using to fullfill their protein intake? Thanks everyone!

Hello everyone! I've been lurking around this website for months now and found it EXTREMELY helpful in assisting me with my decision to go the surgical route that would end my battle with obesity. Background: I'm a 30 year mother with a 12 year old daughter and a wonderful husband. I have been obesed my entire life with the exception of a few years. Like many of you here, I've attempted every diet under the sun. The only diet that I was every successful on was the Sugar Buster diet. I lost 70 lbs. and kept it off for a year. Once I graduated from college, the weight gradually returned to my current weight of 230. Last straw: I came to the realization that my weight was out of control when my clothes began to fit EXTREMELY tight. I was down to like 4 outfits that rotated from week to week. A friend of mine had lap band surgery last year and has done remarkably well. She got off to a REALLY slow start but I seen her a couple of weeks ago and she looks TERRIFIC. My journey: My surgery journey began in February when I ran into a friend of my sister's who had LB surgery in May of '06. She has lost approx. 90 lbs. She was a little larger than I am today but she looks FANTASTIC now. She mentioned all the extra energy and joy she has in her life. It was at that moment that I decided I needed to take control of my weight. I kept wondering why I was so exhausted day after day. I could literally sleep 24 hours a day and STILL be exhausted when I awoke. (it was later determined that I had a severe case of sleep apnea which explained A LOT) After seeing my sister's friend, I decided to get her surgeon's information. It must be fate because I called his office on a Tuesday and their next seminar was on Saturday (3 days later). Talk about timing, I was so thrilled! My journey began on Saturday, February 24th and the anticipation ended today. I received a call from Lap Band Solutions who notified me that my insurance company APPROVED me for surgery. Initially, I was worried about my cost for the surgery, BUT they informed me that my out of pocket expense would be....$200! You CANT imagine how thankful I was when I heard that number. GOD IS GREAT, and I praise him and give him all the glory for all he's done in my life. I need to contact Dr. Marsden tomorrow morning to schedule my surgery. I hope to share more good news. I look forward to sharing my experience with you all. Make it a great day!

New & Approved

Hi everyone: Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. I will have my pre-op appointment on May 8th @ 1:15. I would like to schedule my surgery for May 23rd or 25th, but we'll see what the doc's schedule looks like on Tuesday. Did anyone have to do a pre-op diet? Glad to be here and look forward to sharing success with you all. -
How Long for Insurance Approval
weightingtolose replied to chimboree26's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi ragdollx19: This is too weird. I'm also a patient of Dr. Marsden and received my approval today. Woo Hoo!!!!!! Like you, it didn't take long for my approval once the documents were submitted to my insurance company. I need to call LBS tomorrow morning and schedule an appointment with Dr. Marsden to proceed further. I look forward to sharing this journey with you all.
