Hey Shauna! I miss you! My fill left me with no restriction, as a matter of fact I called on Thursday and scheduled another fill for next Thursday! We had a bit of an emergency in Rick's family. (everyone is fine) But the vacation is off. It is a long story I will try and find some time to e-mail you personally. So I have the week off and we will be back and forth to Prescott. I'm glad you are having a great time. You should come back all skinny and tan! I'm thrilled about the shorts!! How fun! I met NewLife (Karen) this morning for Breakfast and she brought a friend with her. We had a great time and laughed a lot. We met on the West side and I sure wish you had been here. I still have not heard anything from Mike. I hope he is back from his vacation Monday. If I don't hear anything by the time I see them on Thursday I'm going to give them a piece of my mind. Anway, I just came in from the pool and I need to get out of this suite.. I hope all of you are doing well!

Hey my new Arizona Banded Buddies... I blew it and went to my Post-op visit today thinking it was June 1st, and the funny thing was, I didn't have an appointment today or tomorrow! Must have been the left over Morphine! Anyway, I am doing good, I have lost a total of 27 pounds since I started all of this craziness. I don't know how you can know exactly what was lost this past week. I went in the hosptial weighing 208, but by the time I got out of the hospital I weighed 217. Today I weigh 201.6 on the 'BIG' scales at the Weight Loss Institute. So I guess it was 7 pounds? Heck fire, all I know, is when I first weighed at the Institute I weighed 228 on 03/29/2007 and today I am down 27 pounds. I am way happy about that! I saw Dr. Orris (sp) and he was very nice (young). Business like not like Dr. DeBarros. Speaking of which, he is doing very well, complaining of bloating and gas. It sure is cool having a Doctor go through exactly what we are going through. He is doing good also. I had Dr. Orris explain the new band to me and he said we are like two 'fills' up on the people who had the old band. Well I am at work, still energy low and I could really use a nap. I'm sorry I won't be able to meet you! Where the heck is Lilmonkey? Gosh we just all met I hope she is ok! My first fill date is June 28th at 11am... try and make yours the same time and I promise not to mess up again! Let me know how you guys are doing!

The Saturday Support group that will be held at the Weight Loss Institute of Arizona is still in the process of getting off it's feet. The dietician is on vacation right now and will be back next week. I will post when the meeting will be. All I know right now is it will be this month!

On of the reasons I was so hell-bent in trying to get our own support group going is because of all the reading I have done. The books, the posts, the different support forums I've been on and trust me, it is a lot! Everything I've read not only states that we should attend only our surgeon’s support group but proves how important it is. Here is why, we were all told the same things, by our surgeons, and our nutritionist. So we all KNOW what we are supposed to be doing. Each surgeon along with HIS/HER nutritionist requires their patients to do different things. If you listen to all that stuff too much then you start doubting yourself, your surgeon and your nutritionist. It gets very confusing. I can see this with all the discussions on these boards. So, I'm glad we got it going; it should be within the next few weeks. I told Mike that Shauna and I were going to be gone until the third Saturday of July so I'm hoping that will be the first meeting. It will be at the Camelback office in Scottsdale. So.... if anyone who wants to meet on Saturdays stay tuned!! I have to run now. I hope all of you have a happy Friday!

Oh I forgot!! I am down to 196.6!! Yippeee!!!

Hey thanks Janie! That is exactly what I am doing today! I got my first fill! How freaky is that? Dr. Ortiz saw me again! I still haven't see Dr. DeBarros! Big cheater he is! They say he is doing really well, Becky said that he got dehydrated but he is doing better and bouncing all over the place! Now for my fill, Dr. Oris said that we shouldn't be so concerned about how many cc's we have in our band, as long as we were losing we are fine. (But I asked anyway) I had a two cc fill at the time of surgery and today I got 2.5 cc more. The whole gulping Water was way weird. My hubby was in with me of course. Dr. Oris said if he wanted to he could put 15 cc's in my band and I wouldn't be able to swallow my spit. So he said it really doesn't matter how many cc's we have. All of us are individuals and all of us will have different restriction needs. It makes perfect sense to me! Look at miss Shauna there she has perfect restriction at what? 1.5 cc's right now. So...I have only been able to drink my Protein shakes today, but I got so hungry (I don't know if it was head hunger or real hunger - my stomach was grumbling and carrying on I made myself eat a pudding cup and then latter a yogert. Very slow.. but I sure feel the restriction! Holy Cow! My husband said it was exactly the same when I came out of the hospital. I don't remember. Work is extremly busy, found out today I won't get my laptop back until the 5th of July... I better get it back before I leave for San Diego. Oh we got our Saturday support group!! Keep an eye on the WLIAZ forum I told Mike we would pay more attention to that forum and I promised him we would keep it going... How is everyone tonight? Doing good? Behaving?? Okay.... back to work I go....

I spoke with Dr. Ortiz today and I mentioned I would like a Saturday meeting and he said then he would MAKE it happen! Just like that! He said that he does a seminar at the Scottsdale location on Saturday's and we could have the room after that! Mike said he would e-mail me personally when they get it set up. He said they would be doing it soon!

Oh I forgot about the liquid stage again! Thank you for reminding me! Can the first day include yougert? Give me the whole scooop!

I am here going completely out of my mind! I'm really tired, my muscles hurt from my Calcium problem. Everyone at work is complaining about doing two chats. I'm glad that I jumped on two chats last week. I've got my routine down real well. Now back on topic, I too am looking forward to my fill tomorrow. I can't believe it is here finally! I'm a bit nervous believe it or not. I know no amount of reassuring will help, it is somethign we all have to expeirance ourselves. I'm just still not in in the mood to get poked and prodded again. How are you doing today? I want serious restiction! Hey my heartburn is under control. Yipee! I've been taking the Prilosec O.T.C. religiously so it is really been good. I've watched what I eat and I am even doing my decaf coffee in the morning and I'm still ok so I am very happy about that. Are you all packed yet Shauna? Where is everyone on this board? Is it just you and I? Okay back to work...
-
Hey that is wayyy funny! Will work for fills! You are correct it will be a good deduction. I did have to pay about $2,000.00 out of pocket and that hurt enough. But I always have a medical deduction each year. I have medical conditon unrelated to weight. That is why I had 5 years of documented medical records that stated my weight.

Gosh, I am so thankful that my insuance paid for my surgery and my fills. I only have to pay the co-pay. I feel horrible for you guys. I can't wait for my first fill on Thursday. I am getting more and more hungry each day! Okay, I better get to work...check back later..

Great! Now if we could just get our buddy Shauna to get her's going! Come on girl do a ticker! I'm at work and we are not getting any chats! All of us are fooling around bored! I've been to Amazon.com and did reviews for all the things I've bought there. I've read about lap-band stuff till I'm cross eyed. I've done e-mail and anything else I can think of! How are you feeling today Shauna? Ready for your vacation? Oh oh my boss just said we should be getting chats again in about 30 minutes.. good! I'd rather be busy than slow! I wonder how lilmonkey is doing and her hubby. I went to the WLIAZ forum and there are a few gals there who needed support that had their surgery yesterday. I responded and pointed them here. I hope they join us! More later...

Welcome JMSinAJAZ! What is your name? I'm glad to hear that someone else hasn't lost since their post-op visit. I have lost only three pounds since my post-op visit. I guess that is better than nothing. I know it is crazy but I am not stressing at all about my weight. I just know it will come off when it comes off. (Sure I would like it all off tomorrow, but I have to be real). I have discovered the canned chicken, but dunking it in broth with a triscut I will have to try! I also know that I need to eat until I feel full. I wasn't doing that and I was soo hungry that I couldn't stand it. So now I fill up and that lasts me a while. I go for my first fill on Thursday I can't wait! I want that new restriction feeling back! Okay, I'm at work again.. so I better get to it! I'll check back later!

Please I need advice, Hubby disapointed me
virginiann replied to kimmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kim, I totally feel your pain! My husband did the exact same thing! Boy did we have a war. But in the end, I couldn't undo what had been done so I had to either kill him (which of course would defeat the whole purpose of getting the band in the first place) or get over it. So... I sucked it up and got over it (of course this wasn't an over night process). But I held my head up high and I just talked about it. Even to people who didn't approve. I thought the heck with them all, it's my body, it's my health and if they didn't approve I didn't care! Now everyone has seen that I have lost 30 pounds since I started my Journey (March 29th I began May 21st I had my surgery). Now everyone is happy for me. But don't get me wrong. Your husband violated a trust (as did mine) and I'm not quite sure if I will confide in him again when it comes to something I DO NOT want his parents to know. Good luck and keep your chin up! You did good with your decision and you will do good with your band! -
Hey Diane. I cheated big time with all my pre-op tests and diet. Last June I had my gallbladder removed. So poof.. my colonoscopy and endosocpy was done. Then last August I told my doctor that I was going to need a handicap sticker for my car or we need to do something about my weight. So she put me on diet pills. I lost 25 pounds in about three months. Then I decided I didn't like the way they were making me feel so I went off of them and gained the weight back and then some. There was my 6 months of documented dieting. Plus I have been going to the same doctor for the past 6 years so she had all my weight records. When I had the idea to do this surgery, all I needed was the well woman check. They found a little something that wasn't so-so with my EKG so I had to go to a Cardiologist and we did a stress test. All was fine. Then with my mamogram they discovered a 'mass' and I had to go for a breast biopsy. All was fine. So from beginning to end it only took me 6 weeks, and two of that was due to the whole brest 'mass, biopsy' thing. God knows I'm too impatient to have to wait 6 months. Hang in there! I had my surgery on May 21st and I am loving life! Just the little bit that I have lost so far allows me to bend over and tie my shoes. The exercise is slow, but I'm starting to feel more and more like doing extra things that I normally would sit on the couch instead of doing. Does that make sense? I'm glad you joined our little group and we look forward to your winter time here!

Hey Karen, I finally got my laptop back just to have to send it back again! Otherwise I am a huge chatter box on here! What time are those meetings? I wish one meeting would be in the morning. How is everyone doing? Shauna, check in will ya? I missed you yesterday online. I am online in the morning usually between 9-10:30 and then after 10:30pm (when all good mommies are either cleaning or sleeping). LilMonkey: How are you and your hubby doing? Lara: Are you still around? Phoenixwife: Where are you? I hope all of you are doing well... I am in One-der-land finally! And I'm going swimming tomorrow.. I don't have to go far, my back yard! Check in everyone and give us an update!

I have had heartburn now (for the first time in my life I might add) I did a search on these boards and read where Prilosec was the drug of choice. So I started on that night before last and I went back to mushies and eating slower. I stopped my morning decaf cup of coffee. Now here is my question: I am due for a fill next Thursday (my first fill). Is this heartburn anything that will interfere with my fill? I was banded May 21st.
