Welcome Switchers Past, Present And Future!
erp replied to DSwitcher's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Good luck in the next step of your journey. Keep us posted. -
Just finished week 5 day 3! I had been dreading it (scared)! I didn't die! I think I am going to be ready for my 5k in a few weeks.

I have the same issue. So I try to stay busy at night. Some low cal snack that help me include 100 calorie guacamole with veggies or Kim's Magic Pop. I also make low cal, high protein veggie dips with cottage cheese instead of mayo or sour cream. I also make my own Starbucks cinnamon dolce streamers using high protein milk and a little milk frother gadget that you can buy at IKEA for $1.99. I splurge on the sf cinnamon dolce because the Torani equivalent is just not the same. All of the above feel like indulgent snacks without much damage. Brushing & flossing my teeth helps too. I also have upped my exercise.

How Long Did You Think About It Before You Decided?
erp replied to mimiski's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've thought about WLS for 15 years. Back then it was all about bypass. It scared me because it wasn't as safe then as it is now. I knew someone who passed away due to complications. So after that I didn't think about it again until the Lapband came around several years later. At that point I really liked the sound of it but this was early on before problems like erosion were more openly reported. I probably got serious about surgery and started researching band and bypass again about 2 years ago. Along the way, I read about the sleeve. Once I read about it, choosing the sleeve felt easy. I settled on it through a process of elimination. I was still leery about bypass and the reports that a Lapband wasn't meant to stay in for a lifetime- meaning two surgeries at least- the sleeve just seemed right for me. That decision was instantaneous and I've never looked back. -
Popcorn, chips, crackers, cookies, etc. Everyone varies on what they can tolerate but in general sliders are food that you can eat a lot of before feeling restriction. Most agree simple carbs like above generally fall it the category of sliders.

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
erp replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm on my phone so I don't know if you stats are posted but do know that everyone here has not lost almost 100 lbs. I am at 79 lbs down since DOS 2/20. That's not much more than you and my weight loss has slowed significantly the last few months so these last 15-20 lbs are not going to go without a fight. Keep doing what you're doing. It sounds like it is working. -
Current weight 153.

Week 5 day 3 is up next. I may try to tackle it Friday, definately by Sunday. Fingers-crossed. Only 3 weeks left to my first 5k!
-
Checking in for the week. Sticking to my 5 days a week workout pledge. Two days of strength training and two days of C25K so far. Will get in at least another strength session this week.

Just had a glass for the first time. Stomach didn't blow up but it did make me burp A LOT. It was a special occasion so don't know when I'll have more but I enjoyed it!

I buy mine at Ross for $6.49 a bottle. Got SF Alond Roca a couple of days ago.

there is no way I could wait one hour. just saying.

Sounds yummy. I like to freeze mine tofu first and then squeeze the liquid out. It takes the seasonings better.

So Many Problems. Worth It?
erp replied to Tracy Anderson's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There is a complications forum where other folks who have had significant issues also post. Sorry to hear about your health problems. I hope they resolve soon. -
Congratulations! Great job! You must feel amazing!

Mom was supportive at first but questioning things now....
erp replied to tigermom12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I enlisted my mom's help. When she became part of the process, her doubts turned to support. Now that I'm post, she keeps telling me to stop losing weight. Lol! -
Hi there! I just signed up for my 1st 5k. It is a social run theme is ugly holiday sweater on December 7th. I just got back on the C25k bandwagon in preparation. Started week 5 yesterday and I think I will be repeating a day or two. Never thought I would be doing this a year ago! Wish me luck!

Best and worst "compliments"
erp replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Got a new one this week, " you lost your boobies! You don't have then anymore!". Ok, I'm a 36 C/D. Yeah, it's smaller than when I was a 44 C but really? -
Checking in for the week. Doing better tan expected. Elliptical last Friday, worked out with trainer on Sat, walked with a friend on Sunday, did wk 4, day 3 of C25k Monday, worked out with trainer and did wk 5,day 1 of C25K yesterday. Gym day today so either the Elliptical or more c25k. Hubby bought me a Bosu ball last night so that will probably get added to the mix when trainer comes over tomorrow.

How do you pick your goal weight?
erp replied to Bombs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I set 140 as my goal with a stretch goal of 130. I'm hoping to get to 135 and have a 5 lb bounce range. We shall see. -
Love me some food porn. I don't cook unless I have too so it is all vicarous. I had Food Network on 24/7 right after surgery (I was in mourning). Like all things sometimes I have to turn away but that's my headspace not yours! That cake looks is beautiful.
