What's your favorite go to snacks?

Have you tried Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt? Great flavors (my favorite is pineapple) and only 80 calories.
  2. I find single rtd shakes at the grocery and convenience store, e.g. Muscle Milk, Oh Yeah, etc. Saw a 4 pack of premiere shakes at Safeway. They are out there.
  3. My guy works out a few days a week at the gym and has for many years. Even so he has bad eating habits so he is probably 30 lbs overweight. Before surgery I weighed 20 pounds more than him, now I am more physically fit than he is and I weigh about 85 pounds less than him. This will happen for you too. :-)
  4. Depends on how many sizes you are going down. If it is just one size, then yes. If it is two or more, I don't think it is worth it. I did it once and the suit never fit very well after cutting it down so much.
  5. My sleeve tolerates just about anything except dense bread and refried beans. I wish it would be more selective and say no to candy, crackers and popcorn but alas those all go down just fine.

    Valentine's Challenge

I waited until today with hopes of a loss but no dice, still 145. The good news is I am losing inches/toning.
  7. High waisted pants and lots of exercise. Even with that, I have loose skin but it doesn't bother me. I may get plastics someday but I can live with either way.
  8. NSV at almost one year out. I have ribs! HW: 263 CW: 145

    Bad Taste!

It doesn't always happen, it happened to me early on after surgery but went away after a couple of weeks and of course I was still losing weight after the bad taste stopped. Pre-op it is definitely ketosis, immediately post op it can also be a side effect of anesthesia.
  10. We have a band to sleeve forum you may want to post this under. There are lots of folks here that converted, Cow Girl Jane comes to mind. You might PM them with specific questions. Good luck.

    Bad Taste!

The good news is, it means you are losing weight. It is from a process called ketosis. It means your body is burning fat.
  12. I am the opposite. Didn't sweat before and now I do. My trainer said it means I am becoming more vascular.
  13. I had several sizes in my closet to go through for the first few months. After that I shopped sale and clearance racks. As I continued to lose and I started clearing out the closet, I sorted into 4 piles. Sell, donate, toss, and give to friends.

    WHAT TO DO?

You should continue this conversation with your doctor. Only he/she knows your history and is making that recommendation for a reason. Tell your doctor your concerns, people on the internet that have never met you cannot tell you which surgery to have. Good luck whatever you decide.

    Such a long wait!

Most of us here can relate but know that it is worth the wait. You are making a big, permanent decision. Take this time to read everything you can, ask every question you have, and talk to as many post-ops as you know. April will be here before you know it. Good luck.
  16. Initially, I floated the idea of surgery with a friend. She wasn't overly negative but she was clearly not for it. After that, I decided to keep my decision to myself as I realized this was a decision I was making for me. I also realized that I wouldn't consult people on any other surgery (e.g. knee surgery or whatever) so I decided to not consult on this one. None of my friends or coworkers have to live with my decision, only I do, so why was I giving anyone a say. So while people at work speculate about, did she or didn't she have wls. I say nothing, let them speculate and look fabulous in my size 6 clothes. :-)

    Collarbones

Lynda- you just made me laugh out loud on the cancer "scare". Oh to have thigh gap! The dream! I remember collar bones as one of my first nsv however my hip bones just confused me. I couldn't figure what they were, I thought something was wrong with me.
  18. Sounds like you are getting on track. Some of the foods that helped me at this stage included cottage cheese with no sugar added applesauce, light & fit Greek yogurt, ricotta bake (google World according to eggface for recipe), refried beans and guacamole. There are lots of options and like other posters have said advance planning at this stage is very helpful. Track your protein and water to know that you are getting in enough each day and you'll do great. :-)
  19. Had another NSV yesterday. Worked out with my SO for the first time in about 6 months. He couldn't keep up with me! I had to stop my lap on the track and wait for him to catch up. He used to lap me.

    I bought a size 12 jacket

I'm a pear shape too. I have become more proportionate as the weight has come off. I find that Old Navy Sweetheart and Loft/Ann Taylor Julie and curvy fit work well for our shape.

    drinks

No sugar added hot cocoa, herbal tea, diluted juices plus all the other stuff mentioned above. I also make occasionally make green smoothies to get more nutrients in.
  22. It is scary but you will be in very capable hands. Read and learn as much as you can on here. Follow the nutritionist's guidelines on Vitamins and Protein and you will set yourself up for success. WLS is more of a head game than anything else, I highly recommend regularly attending a support group. At almost a year out, I still attend and learn new things. Feel free to PM me with any specific questions. Erica
  23. That's great!! Keep it going!! Next will hear about you running 5 miles!

Can I wear a bra during surgery?

I couldn't contort myself enough to try and put one on. Plus I was constantly hooked to an IV the first day.
