Pregnancy after 40 and sleeved
erp replied to VSG_A_NEWME's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I'm 42, almost 3 years out and pregnant with our first. If you get yourself healthy, it can happen. -
Wondering what changes you made to the "diet" foods we are supposed to eat as WLS patients now that you are pregnant. Do you still use artificial sweeteners like Splenda? Do you still use the same protein supplements? Any guidance is appreciated, NUT is booked out. Won't see her for 5 more weeks.

1 year out, are you still taking Vitamins and protein, If so which ones

Almost 3 years out, I take a multi vitamin with iron daily and usually drink a shake per day otherwise I can never hit my protein goal. -
Vitamin and Calcium Research for VSG
erp replied to WalkOnWaking's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, calcium carbonate is not readily absorbed regardless of surgery. It is an inferior form of calcium. Cal citrate is recommended for it's ability to be absorbed. Additionally VSG, can create some absorption issues but not to the extent of RnY. -
Yea! So happy to hear from you again and about your WLS success. I am now almost 3 years out- been maintaining for 2 years and agree that my sleeve works when I work it.
-
Congratulations on your milestone Kindle. Wishing you continued success.

On the phone app, my profile has someone else's data. The only thing right is my screen name. Whose data is this and how can it be fixed? Thanks!
-
I don't think so on the mobile app. Desktop, yes, but it is correct on desktop.
-
I did clear the cache. I agree it may not be too big of a deal except that people respond to my posts incorrectly. For example, I posted a picture awhile back and got "Wow, I can't believe you are 60." Me either since I'm 20 years younger. Also since I only post in the sleeve, veteran, and maintenance forums, being listed as a newbie lap-band patient doesn't really work. ???? Does my profile errors show on the mobile apps for others?
-
Notice that the member info stayed the same in these screen shots but that the number of profile views increased so this profile seems to be live versus a static glitch in need of refreshing. Either way, all of the data is wrong, e.g. I have never had a lap-band.
-
I tried this that but it still shows the same bogus profile in the app. Is it just me or is this what other see in the app? I am aware that on the desktop version my info is correct.
-
Early out I added it to my food/drink because I needed as much protein as possible since we eat so few bites. Now they are simply a supplement for me to add when needed to hit my numbers.

As a newbie, I looked to veterans to know what to expect as time passed. I found that more than relevant, I found it invaluable. As a veteran, I still look to those who have gone before me for the same information and guidance. I find it more than relevant, I find it invaluable. So you, Proud Granny, Sleeve 4 Me, Queen of Crop, FeedYourEyes, and all of the vets-- are relevant to me! Occasionally I reply to folks that are early out but usually I stick to the general WLS threads, veteran's forum and maintenance areas. I simply can't stomach (pun intended) responding to one more "I drank an entire Big Gulp of Coke 2 days post op, did I break my sleeve?" or any other question that for lack of better word is idiotic. So in that vein, I never put myself in the line of fire to be accused of bashing, etc. I use the Bambi philosophy (if I can't say anything nice, I don't say anything) so thank you (and Lipstick Lady, etc) for "taking one for the team" when you give accurate and thoughtful answers to questions like that. However, I also agree that we are irrelevant at times to newbies because if a response does not fit within the answers they expected to get, then it is deemed unacceptable, i.e. you are bashing, judgmental and/or unsupportive. Obviously, Jane, anyone who has read more than one of your posts knows that couldn't be further from the truth. In those instances I take my jacks and go home. I don't reply, I don't play the game and frankly even if I did reply and someone got upset from it, I also recognize that it won't matter. So many of the folks that post here that get all riled up, drop off this site within a few months post op anyway and We are still here doing what we need to do to be successful and supportive.

Wait for the call back there is no need to rush.

Can you order via Amazon or Bodybuilding.com? Lots of great choices there. Do you have GNC stores? Lean 25 is a good choice there. While a specific brand may not be available to you, look for: whey Protein (preferably in isolate form), at least 20-30 grams per serving, low in sugar (under 10 grams per serving if possible) and avoid brands with collagen. This applies to powders or ready to drink shakes. Good luck.

I tried my first vitamin at about a week out. I had a bad reaction - painful barf session. Waited a week, tried again and no problem ever since. No need to rush, your tummy needs to start healing.

Advice from vets
erp replied to seaux_beautiful_vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate to answer a question with a question but what are you doing now? What could you do more of? What should you do less of? For me, I have found exercise to be a really important factor in my success. I workout 3-5 days a week, I still take my Vitamins and I still supplement my Protein. Success = keep doing what works and quit doing what doesn't. -
I didn't get to 260+ pounds because I ate a lot of apples and oranges. My program recommends 1-2 servings of fruit a day. I do suggest limiting fruit consumption when in smoothie form only from a satiety and portion standpoint. Wait until you can eat your fruit as it is easy to slug down an entire apple that has been puréed but eating a whole apple? That took me a year and a half.

Many of us have been advised against gummies as inferior nutrient value. Can't comment specifically on that brand however. Ask your NUT.
-
No gummies, they were specifically excluded from my program as generally inferior. Chewables however were recommended depending on the brand. I take Flintstones w iron and am still looking for the perfect calcium citrate chewable that doesn't cost $25/month or more.

Lots of band to sleeve or bypass conversions on here. Use the search box at the top.

I use free weights and find that single arm raises don't bother me as much- frontal and lateral with a light weight. Same with a single arm, upright row. Check your form to not raise up too high. Check out Bodybuilding.com, they have videos and pictures for almost every exercise around.

Pumpkin Flavored Foods/Drinks
erp replied to Madtownsunshine17's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

Do these bars suffer from the protein spiking controversy of Muscle Pharm protein powder or are they legit?
