  1. I know when I was first sleeved I went through a lot of "Head Hunger." I was so conditioned to eating anything and everything whenever I wanted that my mind, and subconscious were all going "HEY JERK WHERES THE FOOD!?!" even though my body didn't want anything to do with food. Being on a liquid diet for so long after surgery just compounded the problem. And if I was ever around my family while they were eating it was really bad. So I would end up leaving the room and going for a walk or coming here and checking the forum. With time I was able to overcome the head hunger and now I barely even want to eat and have to set a timer to remind myself its time for my meals or I would end up skipping them. i'm sure others have other experiences, but that's how it was with me.

How are your incisions? As long as they are healed or not giving you any problems you should be just fine. I if they're not healed all the way yet I wouldn't go trying any acrobatics or swinging from the ceiling fan just yet. LOL

    Wtf?!?!

I've been cutting my food into really tiny pieces and gumming/chewing with the few teeth I have left. The more I sit here and think about the whole mess today the madder I get. I think tomorrow I'm going to call my Insurance Company and find out about about bringing the lame ass dentist up on fraud charges or something. I'm also going to call their Corporate office and raise hell.
  5. Thats great... WTG!
  6. if you're having problems using a traditional CPAP mask that covers the nose and mouth completely, you can get one that just goes over the nose. That would prevent the air from getting down in your stomach while you sleep.

    Vision Problems

Dunno if it's related to the surgery or not. There might be something to this though. I went through almost the same thing as Deb did. Was Sleeved on June 5th, afterwards I noticed while driving that my eyes had changed dramatically. I couldn't see or read street signs any longer. And I used to be able to read the computer sitting in front of it without my glasses, now it's one big blur if I try. Ended up having to get new glasses last month.

    No Appetite

That's somewhat normal this early on. Your stomach is still swollen and healing and not functioning as normally as it would when fully healed. I had no desire at all to eat anything the first two weeks after being sleeved but I knew I had to. it's also normal for your tastes to change. There's no telling what you may or may not like now. You'll just have to experiment and find something that you like. I wasn't a fan of the creamed soups when I was in my full liquid stage so I relied on alot of sugar free jello, pudding, and yogurt.
  11. I would have to say the Sleeve was for me LOL

    Strange?

Yes it's normal. There are some of us who nothing effects. So far I've been able to eat anything I've wanted with no problems except bread. Bread sits on my stomach like concrete so I avoid it now. Tomato gives me no problem. Early on it might not be the best idea to push your luck because they're so acidic. But I've had tomato in salad recently and had no problem at all with it.
  13. Had my surgery June 5th. I had a Chicken Salad Friday evening. So no fears. You can have salad again! Especially if it's something you really like prior to surgery. I've found my sleeve doesn't agree with some things they way my stomach used to. Breads for instance feel like concrete in my stomach now, so I avoid them. But all my favorites I still want and enjoy. Just in moderation.
  14. I don't think there would be any problem with it. Call and consult with your Doc. Their word is golden when it comes to your recovery and the things you should be able to do and when you're allowed to do them.

There is a brand at WalMart. Forget which one right now. But they were Smores flavored and were AWESOME.
  18. Since we're all confessing... I went to the Chinese Buffet today. Had 4 hot wings and a scoop of Singapore chicken followed by a half cup of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

    Chia Seeds

Here's a little story ya'll might find amusing. Back when I was trying to lose weight pre sleeve I had heard about the wonders of chia seeds. So I went to the Health food Store and bought a decent size container. Rushed home ready and raring to try them out. I quickly skimmed over the directions... Take 2 TEASPOONS... Upon opening the container there was one of those measuring cups inside, the kind that comes in cans of coffee. I failed to notice the measurements on the side of it and proceeded to mix 2 of the measuring cups of chia seeds into a container of strawberry yogurt and downed it as fast as I could. I was fine for an hour or so. Then I started getting an uneasy feeling. My stomach was rumbling and grumbling and next thing I know I have to go running for the bathroom. I then spent the next 6 hours making regular trips to the bathroom with explosive diarrhea, cursing my decision to buy chia seeds. LOL <-- sorry if the last part is TMI Lesson learned: ALWAYS read the side of the cup for proper measurement!
  20. Ive been craving anything spicy lately. Not sickeningly over the top hot. But hot enough to make you know you're eating something with a good amount of spice to it. Was researching hot sauces earlier and come across a site that had these amazing looking button mushrooms pickled in red wine vinegar with minced Jalapeno and garlic. Good Lord they look soooooooooo good! I think I'm going to go back and order a jar or two.

    My Goal

Lots of us have to pretty much force ourselves to eat now. If I don't set a timer 4 times a day I would completely skip my meals and it wouldn't even matter to me. I'm no Dr Phil, but perhaps part of your emotional distress is a subconscious thing. You've made this decision to have your body altered in a way that will effect you the rest of your life. And you're having bouts of telling yourself that you're going to fail and not be a success. That could be a major factor in your overall mood. You have to start believing in yourself. You've already taken the hardest steps. You made the decision to have surgery and followed through with it. The rest from here on out isn't a cake walk, but look at the courage and determination you've already displayed. You can do anything you put your mind to from here forward. You can do this! And the picky eater thing... I know it's hard sometimes. But don't be afraid to try something new or different. There's a thousand different veggies out there you can try. Ya never know what ya might like if ya just try it.

    My Goal

It's somewhat normal to feel a little down in the beginning. Your body is going through some major changes. Not to mention the trauma from the surgery that it's still recovering from. That can put a drain on anyone mentally. There's always someone here willing to listen and offer advice if you want to talk. You have an excellent goal also. You'll be in those pants before you know it!
  23. I wish I would have got one. Or even pics. That would have been cool!

    Energy

I've dropped almost 65lbs so far and my energy level has increased imensely! With every pound I lose I have less and less of that lethargic BLAH feeling of not wanting to do anything but sit around or sleep.
