Cheating On Liquid Diet
Nate replied to The New Tasha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lots of people have cheated. Just buck up. Get back on the wagon and pretend nothing happened! Usually the reason your surgeon puts you on a liquid diet before surgery is to help reduce the size of your liver, which in turn helps make the surgery go easier. If you did cheat... as long as you didn't eat a bucket of chicken covered in butter you should be OK LOL. SHHHHHHHH No one saw anything! -
Oh Now I Know Why The Book Says Introduce 1 Food At A Time.
Nate replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It might be from the bagel. I've found that if I eat any type of heavy breads or pastas my sleeve reacts to it in a way that lets me know I should have stayed away from it. As dense as a bagel is, you may be having a similar reaction, even if it was just a small one. It could be the onions also. -
You can, it's not advised though, because it's very pulpy. And pulpy stuff is hard to digest. Especially 2 weeks out. If you do decide to, just chew it thoroughly and don't eat too much and you should be OK. But don't push things.

Does Anyone Go Back And Forth With Doubts?
Nate replied to Optimist01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone goes through emotional extremes coming up to their surgery. I know I did. I wanted it so bad. Yet I was scared as hell. There were a million different "What If's" running through my mind about the surgery, what if something goes wrong, what if this happens, what if that happens... Then I asked myself what if I don't get the surgery done, and thought about what life would continue to be like, and how long I might have left to live continuing on the way I was. -
Cooking After The Sleeve
Nate replied to SleeveandRNYchica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cook the big thanksgiving meal for the family every year. This will be my first year with the sleeve. I really don't think I will make anything differently than I have in the past. But I will make some new healthier options to go along with everything else for myself and anyone else who wants them. I do know in addition to the usual deviled eggs I usually make that everyone loves i plan on making the avocado devil bomb eggs that the recipe is here on the forum for. Those things RULE! -
Hope you feel better soon. Congrats on the loss so far. its only going to get better!

Yes it's normal. Like CO said, It's mostly water that you're going to lose the first week or so. You're doing just fine don't worry!

LOL I do find it funny, yet rather... a little disheartening maybe... when I see some of the people on here talking about their highest weights being around 250lbs when that is my goal weight. But I take it in stride and remember that I'm a big dude. Since people were sharing their stats here's mine: Height... 6'5" Weight... 442 (was 550 at my first WLS Consult last year) Shirts... 5xl down from 9xl Pants... 5xl down from 8xl Shoes... 15 4E (always wore wide shoes, but may drop down to a 3E soon, current shoes seem to be getting a tad loose) My unofficial goal is to get down to 235. That's what I weighed when I was 25, back when I was at my healthiest and I was forged steel and sex appeal with the body of a Greek God lol

UPDATE: I've gone back and forth with my insurance company. Talked to everyone from supervisors, to loss prevention and fraud report people. They will allow me to get my dentures from my new dentist! They are also starting an investigation into the other dentist for charging for work they didn't do. hopefully this will all be over soon.

When I was a kid I used to walk 3 miles to school in snow knee deep up hill in both directions! And my Doc let me drive as soon as my drain was out... about a week after surgery. Ask your Doc for the OK just to se sure, they're all different.

Does The Risk Of Leaking Ever Go Away?
Nate replied to Paigers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think after about 6 months your stomach if fully healed and the risk of a leak is virtually nil. Like I always say though, when in doubt, ask your Doctor. Others more in the know will weigh in on the subject I'm sure. -
Congrats!
