Question Why? Two Weeks Of Liquid Diet
Nate replied to Dee-Texas's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
The reason they have people do the pre op liquid diet is to reduce the size of the liver. If your liver is too large when they get inside with the camera to check out the situation, it could lead to them having to do a traditional full open surgery rather than a laproscopic procedure. -
I Can't Wait To Never Have To Shop At Lane Bryant Ever Again!'
Nate replied to newkat12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a double edged sword for me. I'm big, but I'm also 6'5. And while there are Big & Tall stores, there should really be called Big OR Tall. I can find pants and shirts to fit, but they're always just a bit short. I can't wait till I'm down to my goal weight and can buy regular sized tall peoples clothes that fit properly! -

You can still have a piece of chocolate or a chili dog every once in a great while as a special treat to yourself. Just dont make a habit out of it. Reward yourself for being good... give yourself something to strive for.

Anyone Feel Like They Wont Lose?
Nate replied to healthiermom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We all probably did at least a little. Some of us a lot. You just have to believe in the surgery, and most of all believe in yourself. This isn't a magic cure all that makes us lose the weight, it's something that helps us do it. So you have to really be willing to work for your goal. If you're willing to do that you will be a huge success. -
Help! I Cheated On My Pre Op Diet
Nate replied to tqmeri30's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OH!! I'm telling! You slipped. it's OK. Just get back on the wagon and try not to do it again. -
The "NUT" is the Nutritionist that we see. Not sure about a 12 week program. But a lot of us have had to under go a pre-surgery diet, and or liquid diet to make sure the size of our liver is reduced and wont be an obstruction to the Surgeon during the operation. Also some of us are required by our insurance companies to under go a set amount of weight management appointments with a "NUT" or someplace like Weight Watchers. I had to go through 9 months of monthly Nut and weight management visits before my insurance would approve me for the surgery.

Sorry to hear it. Hopefully it happens for you soon!

Awesome! Looking good! Congrats on the victory.

Yes, it will pass as long as you let it and don't give in. It's easier right now because you really can't eat anything, but once you're allowed to eat, it becomes a battle of willpower if the head hunger is still messing with you. You can do this though. Mind over matter. Be Strong!

First Over Eating Experience Post Op
Nate replied to jennrus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did it once. That was enough for me to learn. I got sweaty. my stomach hurt, felt like I was going to puke. Never again! -
Congrats! Glad it went well!

Your first week don't worry so much about protein drinks. Just concentrate on getting in all your clear liquids like your Doc ordered. You don't want to dehydrate and end up back in the hospital. Once you get to the full liquid stage and are able to drink a little larger amounts you can work on getting the protein in slowly.
-
Congrats... good luck!

Yes it's possible. You'll need to eat right, make sure you get lots of protein, and exercise regularly. But you can do it!
