Surgery Center In The United States Or Hospital?
Nate replied to Sannah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If I had the option, I would stay in the hospital for surgery and stay at least overnight if not longer. This is a major surgery. I think it would be best to be at a hospital setting where if god forbid anything went wrong or you had some sort of bad reaction, there would be people on hand immediately to deal with the situation. -
definitely stay in the hospital. and i was fine after a week. just a little tired. but everyone is different. ya wont really know until it happens.

I had to do it. it's not so bad if ya do it right. One of the nurse's will show you exactly what to do. It's easy. Don't worry!

My answer is: Call your Surgeon. There really shouldn't be an issue. But it would be safer for you to ask first.

Shrimp - What Else Can You Fix With It?
Nate replied to CoolBreeze's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
like hot food? coarse chopped celery coarse chopped onion coarse chopped green pepper minced jalapeno minced garlic clove saute in a lil olive oil or dare I say it... butter (I like to use a touch of both) once veggies are almost at the softness you desire toss in the shrimp and cook until shrimp are done. Serve. Enjoy -
Forgot to mention it in my earlierposts... Since surgery I'm completely OFF my Diabetes medication, my Blood Sugar level is regularly between 85-110 now. My Blood Pressure is way down from where it used to be and my medication for that has been decreased. My back doesn't bother me like it used to, my knees no longer hurt nonstop. And I can walk far better and farther than I used to be able to. Things are only going to get better the more I lose. Sure the Surgery was a bit of a risk at my size. But the risk has been well worth the reward. I would do it again in a heart beat even at twice the risk, because the risk of dying young is just as great if I would have carried on without the surgery. It's natural to be concerned with any surgery. I'm living proof that even the extreme cases can make it through just fine. Try not to worry too much!

Just keep walking as much as you can. Try to sleep in a comfortable position if you can find one. And your pain meds are your friend. If they didn't give you any call and ask for a script for some if it's bothering you this badly.

Already Sleevers That Had Back Problems Pre-Op Please Read!
Nate replied to jenjen82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far I've lost nearly 80lbs and it's done wonders for my back and knee pains, and joints not to mention completely eliminated my diabetes and helped lower my blood pressure and lower my meds for it. If an MRI is required or not is something you would probably have to discuss with your doctors, they would know best. But the surgery would do wonders towards helping alleviate your current ailments. -
The only advice I would give is to make sure you stick to the pre op diet as best you can, especially when you're this big. It's meant to shrink your liver, which in turn makes it easy for them to move it during surgery. If they're not able to manipulate your liver laproscopically they're going to have to open you up completely. That means a big giant incision, lots of pain, and long healing time. Not to mention a big scar.

About 2 1/2 - 3 months was when I finally broke down and had a salad and it gave me no problems.

Whatcha wanna know? I was 505 the morning of surgery on June 5th 2012. Today I'm 430. Was considered high risk for surgery. But everything went just fine with no complications. Only problem I ended up with was a blood clot in my arm a week after surgery from the I.V. But they said that could have happened to anyone so take that for what ya will.

Nsv: How Many Pants Sizes Have You Dropped? No More Big And Tall
Nate replied to COsleeveDude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6'5 I'm always going to be in Big & Tall clothes. But the day of surgery I was in 8XL Pants. So far I'm down to 4-5XL depending on if it's jeans or fleece. By the time I hit goal I'll hopefully be right around a 38-42in waist with a 33in inseam. -
Looking awesome! WTG

I avoid cameras like the plague. Only pic taken recently of me was the morning of my surgery by my Doctor's assistant as a sort of Before pic for their files.
