    Exhausted

Am finishing day 2 of the liquid diet and feel as though i may sleep for the next 2 weeks. I am exhausted. I am drinking the costco premier protein shakes...about 3.5 a day which is 105 grams of protein so i am meeting the requirement. I have had chicken broth and my husband just went to get me some jello. I have to work tomorrow...a 12 hour shift...please tell me this will pass. Surgery is still 12 days away.
  3. I am starting the protein shake diet on monday and really want to stick to it. Any tips to make it more bearable would be greatly appreciated. Im really nervous about the massive hunger pangs.

    Got My Date!

gOt the call today and my surgery date is monday august 27th!!!!! I am so excited i went out and bought my magic bullet blender and started messing around with different protein shake ideas!!!!!
  6. So i am about 4 weeks away from surgery, i have not gotten the actual day but surgeon said toward end of august. (i find out monday) so i am clearly super thrilled with getting my useless band out and having a second chance at losing weight but i am finding it really hard right now toget motivated to start an exercise program. I had it in my mind that i would really try and lose before surgery but i cant bring myself to get out of the house. I am so incredibly hot as it is over 100 degrees in virginia rigt now and the thought of walking outside....yes even in the evening...is unbearable. So i am inside trying to stay cool. I havent really changed my diet like i had hoped except i have committed to not eating after 8pm. I have to do the protein shake diet in about 2 weeks and am hoping that it will help me drop a few pounds. I guess my concern is that if i dont give my metabolism a boost with some exercise than i might not lose much. Its just sooo hot right now.
  7. Wanted to get some recipes for the best pre-op and post-op protein shakes.
  8. Here do i begin... So i have Been thru all of the pre op stuff and insurance approval for the sleeve. I am currently banded but my port is detached and so my band has been empty for a while and unaccessable. I thought i was all prepared for the vsg until i recieved sone kinda scary news yesterday. My coworker who is a nurse in the surgical icu strongly recommended against the procedure. She said that she sees too many patients that have been severly septic 10 years after the procedure when there suture line ruptures. She said that the staple line can rupture anytime and when these people come in it is usually fatal. So now i am freaking out. I am only 37 and dont want to find myself in that situation in 10 years. I have been doing some real research and really cant find a lot regarding late complications involving staple lines but i am thinking it is because there is probablly not a whole lot available. As much as i woould like to dismiss her statements, she is usually a very reliable source. So my dilema is this....should i have my port repaired and start with the lap band program as though it is new.( i have had zero restriction for several years because of pior follow up) or should i go the more aggressive route in order to lose this excess 100 lbs? i did originally lose 50 lbs with the lap band and stopped when i got pregnant.

I am back to moving ahead with thw procedure as planned but will be having a one on one with my surgeon again to address my concerns. Thank you for your support

    Need Some Good Opinions

When i spoke to her about it today she said that this surgery is comparable to a partial gastectomy and those are the complications with suture lines that she sees. I am still looking for more data and realy having trouble.
  11. O i have just been approved for conversion of band to vsg. Never lost much with the band and my biggest fear is that i wont with the sleeve either. I am not a binge eater nor a big snacker but i tend to eat large meals primarily because i am so hungry. I am now 5'8 and 250lbs. If i were to set a goal it twould probablly be about 155-165 because of my larger frame. Is there eanyone lse eout there like me that has been able to reach their goal? Is there a point where the metabolism adjusts and you can no longer lose weight? I really want to get to goal. Did anyone start any kind of pre surgical diet or musclebuilding plan before surgery? I am scheduled in august.

    Fear Of Weightloss

Thanks so much for all of your replies. It is hard to overcome the notion of feeling like a failure with the lap band. The biggest thing for me was always feeling so hungry even after my fills. I intend on starting to implement some of the lifestyle changes immediately because i feel like this is my last opportunity to get healthy and the thought of having more energy and lower cholesterol and less knee pain and no more sleep apnea to name a few is reAlly exciting!

    Band To Vsg

O i am in the proces of getting approval for lap band removal due to esophageal dysmotility and minimal wt loss. I want to convert to a vsg and doctor recommends it however thinks that it would be better to wait 3 months after removal to have vsg. I have cigna insurance and was wondering if anyone has done the same thing and wether it was still considered reoperation bariatric surgery or if once the band is out they will treat it like a new surgery.
