is there anything safe to take when you are constipated?
Pinky Green replied to jmarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said Miralax -
Here they are - size 10, 163 lbs. a little tight but I can zip and button them. My friend found the picture of me 2 years before surgery. I'm not sure what I weighted but I weighted more right before surgery. I think I might have weighed 225-230.

Size 10!!!!!! Pictures to follow

I can't believe how much I walked today. First I walked to McDonald's (.62 miles) , I usually get an egg mcmuffin and eat it open faced. From there I went about three blocks to the Kroger. Didn't buy anything because what I wanted was perishable and my thought is I needed to go to the bathroom. I was on my way to the bus stop to go to Walmart to get a few things. I stopped at the dollar store and got some small food containers that I'm going to use for my soap making. But it is Sunday and the buses don't come but once an hour so I decided to start walking and see how far I got. The total walk from McDonald's to Kroger, walking around Kroger and then walking to the bus stop and then walking down three more bus stops I estimate by mapmywalk.com to be (1.51 miles) not counting walking around I did at a Dollar Store and Walgreens and then I walked around in Walmart and carried two bags of groceries to the bus stop. Then I sat down. Waited for the bus and hoped on and rode to a place that was about 3 blocks from my house (.72 miles). Then I walked to the Neighborhood Walmart (one nearer our house but doesn't have what I needed earlier from the big Walmart) and got some milk for steel-cut oatmeal.(.75 miles again). I think I walked at least 4 miles today.

Stuck at 198!
Pinky Green replied to skinnyfate1004's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
115 lbs in 7 months. OMG. I started at 240 and I have only lost 77 lbs. I was stuck at 189 for quite a while. I was stuck at 172 for a while too. Up until then I was still having knee problems. Actually, they do still hurt a little but only after walking a long while and I find if I walk slower or just stop and stand for a few moments it will quit hurting. One I hit 172 or so I started biking and walking every day. After about 168, I started losing weight faster now. I've lost 5 lbs in about 2 weeks. -
The doctor's don't recommend it but almost everyone does it to one extent or another. I was pretty much out of control until the actual 2 week liquid diet and then I only cheated twice after that. Once with a small Caesar Salad at IKEA and a few days before surgery I had my last Acapulco Dinner at Tia Maria's. I have been back to Tia Maria's but I had grilled shrimp and chicken and only ate a very little bit and took a lot home. I love it that I still can have my Tex-Mex food, even if it isn't the same Tex-Mex food.

You must be about the same height as me. I am a 12 now too and I'm at 163. I have a pair of 10s that fit but they are too tight to wear, but I can zip and button them. I'm 5'0".

What do you think? Do you consider me a slow loser?
Pinky Green replied to SerendipityHappens's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My first appointment as on May 26th and I weighed 240. On the day of surgery I weighed 228. At my 6 month appointment I was 189. I am at 10 months and am now down to 163. I have 33 lbs to go. My doctor said at my 6 month appointment that he expected me to lose between 20 and 30 lbs. I had slowed to about 3 lbs a month. So far I have lost 26 pounds of that. However, recently my knees have stopped hurting enough that I can do some serious walking and bicycling and I have started to losing faster again. I lost 3 of those pounds in the last week. -
Thin body, thick skin...
Pinky Green replied to gmanbat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I just recently had something like that happen and that was my thought entirely. My very best friend. The one that will come and pick you up on short notice after you get in a wreck and bail you out of jail. I went to her house and I excitedly told her that the shorts I was wearing were a size 12. And her response: "They look like they might be a large 12". I will completely forgive her because we have been friends forever and because of the aforementioned reasons. Also, most of the time she will give you her honest opinion when no one else will. However, her remark was not particularly encouraging. But then a few weeks later I told her I was down to 165 and she said "Great, that might even be less than me." -
I am now to the point that most people have never seen me so thin. Last time I was this weight I was about 6 months pregnant with my now 24 year old daughter. Yesterday I saw someone who I hadn't seen in about a year. I said hi. Then he looked and said "you've lost a lot of weight, I didn't recognize you until you spoke to me and wouldn't have recognized you if you hadn't spoken to me. I am now walking if it's less than half a mile and riding my bike up to 13 miles a day sometimes. I am fitting (barely) in a pair of 10 jeans. They are stretch jeans but not a lot of stretch. I fit well in size 12 now. I have to buy new panties because size 7 is too big now. I'm hoping to go from a 34DD to 34D soon. 34D is much easier to find than 34DD.

Taco Bell Torture
Pinky Green replied to MandaPanda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like burgers with everything. I have been thinking of getting one of those little burgers and a side salad and putting the lettuce and tomato on that little burger. -

I had surgery September 26, 2012 and have lost 75 lbs so far. I had no problems but I know it is possible to have complications. I had a little bit of breathing problems right out of surgery but only until the anesthesia wore off. They kept telling me to breath and the machine went off and eventually they gave me oxygen. It probably wasn't long that they waited, it's hard to judge time when you're under anesthesia. After that it was smooth sailing. -
Taco Bell Torture
Pinky Green replied to MandaPanda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think most of us, at least for me, the problem wasn't so much what we ate as how much we ate. I remember going to Weight Watchers, getting a good healthy recipe and eating all 4 servings. I used to get a large burger and large fries; now, if i want a burger, I get one, but I get a small one and no fries. My bf gets fries and sometimes I have 3-4 of them. -

Ok, you won't even feel the garden hose, really. -
And that's my granddaughter with me. I weight 165 now

I had my surgery on September 26, and I have lost 65 lbs. I am currently 175 lbs now and feeling great. However, I'm getting just a bit of anxiety because I am only 3 lbs away from the lowest weight I have been since before my daughter was born (she's 24). Here's where the anxiety comes in. I have been down to 172 twice. When my daughter was about 6 and another time about 5 years ago. Each time, I stayed there for a bit and then gained back up to 240. So I'm having a little anxiety about getting below 172 and will feel a whole lot better when I get down to 169.

Ummmm Q about... Sex

Yeah, I asked (or it was in my discharge instructions, can't remember) and they said whenever I felt comfortable. I think it was about a week and a half -
Having a bit of anxiety again now!

Having a bit of anxiety again now!
Pinky Green replied to Pinky Green's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thought I should let everyone know that I am now past that hurdle and am down to 165 and I fit easily into a size 12 now. I can walk about 3/4 of a mile now without stopping. My knees still hurt but not as much. I am still losing 3-5 lbs a month. If I keep up this rate I will be 150 lbs by Christmas, maybe even a size 10 and I am hopeful that I can be at goal this time next year. -
Gastric sleeve or Duodenal Switch? Which surgery to have...
Pinky Green replied to mcg968's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's my understanding that the Vertical Gastric Sleeve is the first part of the DS. If you were over a certain weight, like 400 or 600 lbs, they would do the Gastric Sleeve and then wait until the patient was in better health after losing a couple of hundred pounds. Many were still losing at a good rate so they never had the DS finished. Finally it was approved as a procedure in itself a couple of years ago. I don't believe those who have had a Vertical Gastric Sleeve are able to be modified to a Gastic Bypass because there isn't usually enough stomach left to make a pouch. But if you got the sleeve and you could only get so far down, you could probably get approved to modify to the DS. -
I'm a little irritated with Kroger - I need help
Pinky Green posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I shop at Kroger and Kroger did have the best Yogurt. It is the Kroger Lite yogurt and it has 80 calories and has Splenda instead of Aspartame. About a month ago I went in to Kroger's several times and found that my favorite flavor Mixed berry was gone. And when I went again several days later it was still gone. Went to the manager and he tried to order it, and it came back as discontinued. Fine. But then I went back several days later and now they don't have Raspberry and only have Rasberry Acai or Raspberry Yumberry (Does anyone know what a yumberry is?). It seems they discontinued many flavor. Some are now only available as CarbMaster which is not really yogurt - it says Cultured Milk Product on the label. I really need some suggestions on where to get a good cheap regular yogurt (not Greek) that does not have aspartame. And maybe it would help if enough people called Kroger's and told them we want all the flavors back. Here's the number. I had surgery on September 26th, 2012. After a month I only had restrictions on eating seeds and nuts. No seeds or nuts for 6 months. Other than that I was allowed to eat anything I can tolerate but was told to try to keep the fat grams to under 5 grams of fat and to avoid simple sugars. Otherwise, I can eat what I want. I eat a lot of grilled chicken, Beans, and corn tortillas. We also eat a lot of tomatoes, green peppers and onions.

How long did it take you to lose 100 lbs?
Pinky Green replied to MK1986's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I haven't lost 100 lbs yet - but I've lost 72 lbs since September 26th. Hoping to reach 160 by the time I go to see my doctor in September. At my 6 month I was 189 and the doctor said he expected I would lose 20 or 30 lbs by my next appointment in October. So I've lost the 20, if I get to 160 it will be 29 lbs by then and a total of 80 lbs. -
I did, and fat free refried beans.
