I've lost weight (and gained it back) and the length didn't change but the width got smaller.

You can get no sugar preserves. I think Kroger makes a brand and there is All Fruit and Polners.(sp?). I think the Kroger one has Splenda in it.

My doctor gave me a schedule of what we will be eating after surgery and it only requires me to be on clear liquids for day one and two post-op, and they added that I wouldn't need to worry about that because I would still be in the hospital anyway. I go right to full liquid after I get out of the hospital. Or at least if all goes as scheduled. My surgery is Wednesday. -
I like large curd cottage cheese more than I like small curd cottage cheese also.

Five Weeks Out... Slow Loss?
Pinky Green replied to ShapeShifter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, it says I use 1700 calories if I am inactive, 1900 if I am somewhat active, 2050 if I am active and 2400 if I am very active. I do have to admit I'm probably inactive. I have knee problems and find it hard to walk more than 5 minutes without a lot of pain in my knees. I need to start going to the swimming pool to bump that up to 2400. I can exercise for an hour in the Water. Currently I'm getting about 800 calories a day - so I have a deficit of about 900 calories a day x 7 days would be 6300 calories which is almost 2 pounds. Which sounds like just about what I'm losing. After surgery I'll probably go down somewhat more at first since I probably won't even be able to drink 5 Protein Shakes a day for the 800 calories. Just so long as it's gone and doesn't come back I can live with 2 or 3 pounds a week. -
Five Weeks Out... Slow Loss?
Pinky Green replied to ShapeShifter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, last time I went to Weight Watchers I would lose a pound and a half and then gain a pound the next week. I'll be real happy if I'm losing 3 lbs a week for 5 weeks. I get sleeved on Wednesday. I seem to be a slow loser now already - I have been on the Pre-Op diet for a week and only lost about a pound and a half. -
Peaches or pineapple. I always buy them with juice instead of syrup and put a little bit of the juice on it too.
-
I'm hardly drinking any broth at all.
-
Well, I went to my Pre-Op appointment and I only lost about a pound and a half, I was so disappointed. And worried that they might think I didn't do the Pre-Op diet. I only has one small cheat - a small Greek salad.
-
I know what you mean. I lost my keys and can't find them. Luckily, I found a spare key.

Yes, plenty of fluids and vitamins

I am doing exactly what they said 4-5 protein shakes (Bariatric Advantage), have even cut back on the sugar free popsicles and jello and it doesn't seem like I'm losing weight - either that or my scale is broke. My NUT says if you don't lose at least 9 or 10 lbs in the Pre-Op diet they will assume you didn't do it. Well, I've been on it a whole week and I only seem to have lost about 3 lbs - what could be the problem?
-
Well, I got through day 6 of the diet, I am not as hungry. On day 4 I cheated just a bit and had a small Greek salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, black olives, feta cheese and dressing. I don't suppose that is too bad though. I think I've only lost about 4 lbs though.

Houston is finally getting some Trader Joe's Stores.

Does Anyone Else Have To Stay Very Close To The Bathroom After Drinking A Protein Shake?
Pinky Green replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT said that if it gives you a lot of gas that you probably shouldn't be eating it. I suppose that's true for sweets and dairy but not so sure that applies to vegetables like broccoli or cabbage. -

Do some resistance exercises and also try swimming. Maybe that will tighten it up some. -
I think possibly, it could be that those of us who are a little diabetic are experiencing lowered blood sugar levels that while more normal, are low for us. I don't have really high blood sugar ever, my A1C is just a little above what is normal. I'm guessing some of us are experiencing 85 or 90 blood sugars and we aren't used to it. Our bodies are experiencing "low blood sugar" or what our bodies see as low blood sugar. After all my blood sugar usually stays between 110-125 and then goes up after a meal depending on the type of meal. After Mexican food I've had 179. I would imagine Bariatric Advantage doesn't raise it much from no food.
-
I'm also hungry, weak and tired feeling. I'm on day 4. I'm having 4 Bariatric Advantage protein shakes a day. I'm eating probably 10 sugar free popsicles a day. What's worse is having to cook for others and sit there while they eat. When do we get used to this?

Have You Gotten Your Job To Cover Weightless Surgery?
Pinky Green replied to cloudsprincess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, if you have a job where you sit all day you might work the guilt angle a little bit. -
Well, I'm on day 3 of my Pre-Op diet and I'm so hungry. Been eating the hell out of Sugar-free popcicles, jello and low sodium broth and decaffeinated ice tea. But I'm not going to cheat. Four more days till my Pre-Op appointment and then 7 more till surgery.

New Job
Pinky Green replied to on the way to the new me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would still look for a new job but I would make it clear that you needed some time mid-November tentatively starting on November 12th and lasting about 2 weeks. You can just say it's personal business or whatever. If they hire you with that provision they should be willing to honor it when the time comes. -
I think I'll be ok, I've been drinking Premier Protein shakes for 2 meals a day for 4 or 5 days a week for that last few weeks so this shouldn't be much harder.
-
Tomorrow I start the "Dreaded Two-Week Liquid Pre-Op Diet". But I'm ready. I have my protein drinks, my sugar-free Popsicles and gelatin and my chicken broth. I mostly have been eating two meals a day like this already. Next week on e 19th is my Pre-Op appointment and then surgery on the 26th.

Yay! Finally, I got a call from my doctor's coordinator and they sent it in and got disapproved and then they fixed something and after they sent it back in it was approved in about a week. Now I am waiting for the call to get my preop and surgery scheduled. They changed my doctor though because apparently Dr. Scarborough is out of network and Dr. Yu is in network so he will be doing the surgery.
