Keri, I use Zone bars, I just have to chew really well and take very small bites. I have found the South Beach bars easier to eat in general. Actually, I think that's how I've gained so much muscle is the Protein in these bars, that along with my chili and refried Beans. As for the word diet, I didn't pay almost $17,000 to diet, LOL. Although, I have made major changes in my choices of food as well as the amount I eat. Gee when I compare then and now....I should only weigh about 10 lbs. Isn't it strange how our body adapts?

Today's my birthday and I hope I don't overdo!
HarleyNana replied to BeckyinTexas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oops, I'm a little late too, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! My band doesn't like cake, which WAS my favorite desert. Comes back everytime, is that good news or bad news, lol. -
I'm sure you're correct, but she did say something about the calcium build up and that it is caused by the dark green veggies and a few other food items. She was even given a list as to what foods to stay away from. Couldn't hurt to ask the doctor.

2 questions re: self-pay (in the US)
HarleyNana replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't tell my ins co anything, they were never involved. $16,750, (I think), includes all visits and fills for a year. -
How did you determine your goal weight?
HarleyNana replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My goal is a size 12, well at least for now. -
There first was a band that was not adjustable or reversible, as a matter of fact, my distant distant cousin had it done. I think there were some adjustments surgically to the tummy as well. It two was lapro done, but more invasive.

When do you start to KNOW it's there??
HarleyNana replied to LJBravado's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I only feel mine when I don't chew enough or my band doesn't like what I'm eating. Otherwise, I feel my band in my head, LOL. -
No regrets with the band here, I wish you the best on your decision.

HarleyNana replied to bbblampwork's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So sorry you had to endure two surgeries, that's not good at all, but with all that behind, good luck on your journey to a new and healthier you. -
So If I lose 100 pounds in a year.. I am NOT a turtle?

Good job girl! Hope you make your next goal. -
I had it happen to me a couple of times, the doctor wasn't the least bit alarmed, (glad he wasn't), and he said we have tiny blood vessels in our esoph and throat, which sometimes burst during the pb or can be scratched during the pb.

Hey Lady! Welcome back, hope you're home for good and the family is well. God Bless!

A friend who suffers with lots kidney stones told me it was caused by too many dark green leafy veggies, such as spinach. Might want to ask your doctor if some foods tend to cause the calcium build up more than others.

WOW, they need to take these pictures and post them on the gastro bypass sites where they say bandster don't really lose, absolutely gorgeous. Hope the baby does has a speedy recovery.

Betty-thank goodness it's not just me! Maybe it's been a long time since I bought clothes in a store, but I just can't believe how different the sizes fit. Everyone who asked about the she crab soup. The difference between regular crab soup is the "she" has crab roe, yesss crab eggs from the female-"she". The recipes all call for the roe, but a substitue can be made by using hard boiled egg yolks. She-Crab Soup 1 small onion, minced 4 tablespoons butter 1 pound crabmeat (about 12 crabs) 1 quart milk 2 cups light cream 1/4 teaspoon mace 1/4 teaspoon white pepper 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste 1/4 cup dry sherry 2 egg yolks or 1/4 cup orange crab roe Rind of 1 lemon, grated, optional Sauté onion gently in the butter, add crabmeat, and set aside. Heat milk and cream in the top of a double boiler, add crab meat and onion, seasonings, and sherry. Cover, and let steep over very low heat for 30 to 45 minutes

I can't even draw a straight line with a ruler, ERRR.

When ever I've had those weeks the scales refused to move, I had gained muscle, 26lbs now, I guess it's the protein, but I prefer to see those scales move.

Welcome back, hope you're back to normal real soon. Unless you've been through a devistating hurricane, you just can't realize the simple things we take for granted. After Isabel, we didn't have power for a month and a phone for almost two months, (we live way off the road and we're not high priority). But, we were blessed considering what Katrina and Rita did to so many families and property. Take care.

My worst slime ever was from a pretzel, a tiny bite of a mini golden pretzel, so banders beware.

My other scars, (had to look), are tiny and are barely horizontal, but they are.

Creamation must be the ticket outta here, but it's hard to break family tradition. Here in the south, burials are still the thing. Talk about living in a cave, I had no idea they could make jewelry and globes out of ashes, I gotta get out more often.

Congratulations, a new you and a new baby, all in the same journey.
