From what I hear lately and read, it's liquid that counts, regardless of what it is, with the exception of sodas and calorie wasted liquids. Meaning, tea, lemonade, crystal lite, (which is what I add to my bottled water), coffee, etc. All in moderation I'm sure. When I'm in a restaurant, I put a 1/2 packet of swtnlow or splenda in my water with a squeeze of lemon, then after I finish my meal, I ask for a to go cup and take it with me for later, mmmmm.

Oh my goodness, the seafood was the bomb, fried oysters, fried scallops, fried fish, steamed oysters on the half shell, clam chowder, steamed shrimp, bbq, french fries (not for me), and strawberry ice cream, not to mention all the screwdrivers. Not one pb, woohoo! Back to the real world tomorrow. I hired this cute young girl today, who was dressed like a professional, thanks for thinking of me Betty, it's amazing isn't it, I figured a few of them obviously didn't own any mirrors, LOL.

Unbanded............... To many problems
HarleyNana replied to Dannie's Darlin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm so sad to hear your lost your band, that's just awful, but your health is more important. Do you think you'll try it again? I'm so sorry you had such a horrible experience. Wow 4 days in the hospital, I hope you're feeling better now. -
Congratulations, you look great! Keep up the good work.

Already had the coffee, gotta figure out what I'm wearing to community festival today. Five hours of all the seafood you can eat and the alcoholic drinks you can handle. I'll see a lot of people I haven't seen in a long time and I want to look thinner. Ya know how some clothes make you feel smaller. It's suppose to be 80 here today, but then once the sun goes down, so does the temperature. Hummmm, jeans or capris???

I so agree with the weather restriction, when it's hot outside and humid, I'm extremely restricted. It's amazing how many situations can and do affect my band. My band is very sensitive and will cause a pb/slime in a flash.

Joke Of The Day - Friday October 14th
HarleyNana replied to NJChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
An extremely modest man was in the hospital for a series of tests, the last of which had left his bodily systems extremely upset. Upon making several false alarm trips to the bathroom, he decided the latest episode was another and stayed put. He suddenly filled his bed with diarrhea and was embarrassed beyond his ability to remain rational. > > In a complete loss of composure he jumped out of bed, gathered up the bed sheets, and threw them out the hospital window. > > A drunk was walking by the hospital when the sheets landed on him. He started yelling, cursing, and swinging his arms violently trying to get the unknown things off, and ended up with the soiled sheets in a tangled pile at his feet. > > As the drunk stood there, unsteady on his feet, staring down at the sheets, a hospital security guard (barely containing his laughter) who had watched the whole incident walked up and asked, "What the heck is going on here?" > > The drunk, still staring down replied: "I think I just beat the chit out of a ghost" > > Happy Halloween! > > > -
I told people I had a hiatal hernia fixed, which was true. I was suppose to have a liver biopsy at the same time, but the doctors decided not to mix the two. Remember, just because it's the most important thing on your mind right now, in a day or two, they'll forget you were even out. The least said the better!

Sue's Pending Lapband Removal...very, Very Long.
HarleyNana replied to GeezerSue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Gee, I'm 55 and not so sure I needed to know all of that, but thanks for sharing anyway. I hope and pray my band never puts me through what you've been through. I'm sorry you've had to endure so much misery. I hope the road ahead is healthier. Good Luck! -
Since I had the cash, the only thing I had to wait for was the proctor who was assisting my doctor with the surgery, since I was my doctors first lapband patient. Hey I looked at it this way, two doctors for the price of one. I was originally scheduled for Nov 18, but was postponed until Dec 6.2004, almost a year, boy time passes so quickly.

You sound like most of the rest of us. It's normal to test the waters so to speak. Just take it slow and chew, chew, chew and small bites. Good luck on your move.

Ok, I admit it, I'm a LBT junkie. I have to check in at least 3-4 times a day, I can't help it, I'm afraid I might miss something.

Beanie, my DH watches that cop stuff, then all those judge shows. Bores me to death, I ask him every time why in the world would he be so interested in other peoples problems, we don't agree on anything, but Earl, LOL.

That's right up there with the aggrivation of your shorts riding up one leg. Never figured out why they only ride up on one side, any way, that was my nsv this summer, no more shorts riding up my legs, walking a foot, then pulling it out, come on ladies you've been there I know, LOL.

I may have to cancel my surgery
HarleyNana replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tough choice, but if you've got it in your heart to do it with your daughter then what's another month. Follow your heart. -
Speaking of Kirstey, what ever happened to that new show she was suppose to have on, did she lose the weight while doing that or after. Heck I need to get out of this cave, I didn't realize she'd lost a lot of weight.

How did you determine your goal weight?
HarleyNana replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
VQ, that is way too heavy for me, what are you a scientis, LOL? I couldn't even understand what I was reading, much less figure it out. All I know is 5'2 and 160 is still too heavy for me, but I also know, due to my age, 125 is not a goal I'm shooting for either. Oh yeah, I get that muscle thing done everytime I go for a fill. Otherwise, the scales would have driven me crazy and sent me into a deep depression. -
Yikes, I just looked at the SB diet bars, they have almost half the protein, back to the Zone bars for me. No wonder they were much easier to eat, LOL.

My port is right in the middle of the crease of my waist, just to the right of my navel, hidden quite well now I might add. I originally thought the band incision area was my port, but on my followup visit I corrected. If you use a couple of fingers together and push firmly against the area, you should be able to feel the port.

WAY TO GO BETTY! It's been a year since I joined this site, boy time flies, especially when we're having fun. I'm so proud of you, you're another roll model and you've been an inspiration to all of us, with your words of wisdom and encouragement. Two more months and I'll be celebrating the year too, although, I feel like I've been stuck at the same weight for a year, LOL. Oh yeah Betty, what did we all do with our time before LBT, I just checked out your posts, OMG 3564 posts, that's a lot of posts lady!!!!!

How did you determine your goal weight?

Eileen, you'll be happy to know I'm almost at YOUR goal, LOL. -
1. Bread-NO,never, my choice, just the thought makes me choke 2. Pasta-spaghetti 3. Pop-not yet, but boy a Diet Dr. Pepper would be goooood. 4. Tortillas-No 5. Salad-Yes, lots of spinach, carrots and cheese. 6. Steak-maybe a bite very very very well chewed 7. Roast-little bites 8. Cereal-at night 9. Hamburger-No, not even 1 since Dec 2004 10. Pizza-Only when I sneak the topping off, not the crust 11. Apples-probably could, but I don't 12. Chips-Way to easy to chew and swallow and never causes a problem, ERRRR 13. Cheese-grated on salads no problem, slices, very slow 14. Shrimp-yes, chewed very well 15. Pop corn-yes, only I don't eat the entire bag anymore. 16. Pretzels-NO, worst, longest pb I ever had after a tiny "golden" pretzel 17. Ice Cream, YESSSSSSS, but don't fall into the easy food habit, it's so easy to do, I call it treating myself when I've had a day when I haven't eaten much, poor excuse. 18. Eggs- scambled with cheese, very slowly and only 1 egg with a little cheese. Egg salad with mayo was my favorite, comforting mushy food. 19. Crackers-yes When I'm in a rush, early stages, say the first 5-6 months, refried Beans from Taco Bell, with contents of a taco mixed with the beans, yummm. Now, 10 months and a new fill, I do the nachos supreme and the contents of the tacos, along with the refried beans.

Well, last night I stayed up and waited for my son to get back from Rock-fishing. Then had to drive him home at 1:00 in am, more beer than fish, LOL. They killed both batteries on the boat, running the spotlight, had to get a jump start, (in the river now), and still kept fishing, men! About the She soup, I've convinced myself he used the boiled egg alternative, although, he does sell shelled seafood beside the sea shore. I've gotta go to work today, it's absolutely beautiful, the sun is shinning, the temp is great. I'd rather stay home and play, but we're short handed in the office. Boy good help is hard to find. You wouldn't believe the way people come in dressed to interview for a job. Worn-out tennis shoes, clothes look like they wore them to bed, flip flops. One girl had on pants so tight (white stretch pants) you could count the dimples on her butt. Have a great day everyone.
