What Foods Have Caused You to PB?
HarleyNana replied to amiefletch's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's not much more than baby spit, IMO. It's more of a bother than a pain. Now if you swallow too much too fast, then there can be major discomfort in your chest, you learn really quick not to do that. -

I just use a cream to put on about 1/2 hr before getting to dr office, it works too. He gave me a script for it. -
I suffer from IBS, but in my case it's irritable BAND syndrome, sorry, but I couldn't resist.

Eileen, I had to laugh, our family room furniture was only three years old, and it was Lazy Boy as well, couch, and two recliners. I gave the couch and one of the recliners, which has a built in cooler and massager to my gson's mom. She was so excited, but not as excited as I was to get rid of it. We bought leather this time. We've only been in our house 3 years and when moved out of our other house, where we'd lived for 22 years, we had leather in the family room there as well, so we went back to leather. No tricksters here, we live down a private lane, wayyyyy off the road, guess the kids don't think it's worth the walk.

OMG, If I was next to you I'd give you a big hug, because you deserve lots and lots of hugs. Your look wonderful!

I was self pay too, no doubt it's a lot of money, but can you put a price on your health. I don't feel like I really changed my body, nothing was rearranged or removed or shortened, AND it's completely reversible.

My mom was banded in April @ 73, she's 74 now, and I'm a young 55, now. -
How wonderful, you'll be able to share that picture with that cutie some day and she'll really appreciate your hard work.

That really irritates me that I wasn't told either during preband or immediately after the band. Thanks goodness for LBT. -
How could you not laugh at that baby link. My gson gets me with the sweetest little, "peasssssse Nana"
-
He sounds like such a trooper. Kids have such resilience.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, the band. I'll be thinking of you. -
Welcome Paul, we have so many lurkers here. Don't be a lurker, just jump right in, you're amongst the best of people.

I guess those good pain killers gave me energy, I've been diddling around the house, waiting on new furniture to arrive, of course got here at 4:30, my stuff was the last delivery, but of course they couldn't tell me my stuff was all the way in the front of the truck and it would be late afternoon when they got here with it, errr. Anyway, I made use of my time and had a couple of my workers come over and get the old furniture out and hang a couple of mirrors for me. Patched some nail holes where I moved pictures around and then attempted to touch up the paint. Eileen, it will pass, I promise. It's just knowing you can't have it that makes you want it so bad. Eat all the popcicles you want, suck on some hard s/f candy, although it s/f hard candy gives me terrible gas pains. Try wonton and egg drop soup that really helps fill you up. Staying busy helps too. I remember I would go to the pantry or fridge and see things I didn't even like that looked good.

I haven't had any problems eating an ice cream cone in the car, OK, I know that was bad.

Michelle, I think sitting your fork/spoon down between bites is very important and definitely influences the pbs. -
What is wrong with me.....I am crazy
HarleyNana replied to Teresita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hate buying groceries, I don't cook, so I don't need many things. I'll start roaming around and see the cake mixes and think, Oh, I haven't cooked a cake in a while, so I'll get a cake mix and frosting, (this is just an example). Then I get home and there are 5 other boxes in the pantry, gee I guess I had that thought a few other times, but as you can see, it passes. Every few months I have to clean out my freezer to make room for new stuff, so the guys that work for me love it when I have freezer day and take laundry baskets full of stuff to work for them to go through. My kids didn't grown up calling me Microwave Mama for nothing, LOL. -
Antibiotics for dental proceedures
HarleyNana replied to Victoria 1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow, I didn't know that either. I'm on the phone with my doctors office to see if I need to get a prescription filled. Update, the nurse called the Dr who said I needed to be on it the day before the surgery. Also, since the teeth were not rotten it doesn't pose a big threat, although, if I start to run a fever or the slightest thought I'm getting ill, to call him immediately. I told the nurse I was getting one of those aggressive teeth cleanings starting in November and she told me they would call something in then for sure. She also stated they're adding that info to the new WLS book they're doing, which will have a section totally dedicated to the band. Thanks again. -
tomorrow and I'm more nervous than I was the night before being banded. I hate going to the dentist, I'd rather have a baby. My question is, should I have my band doctor prescribe some antibiotic after I get this done? Do I need to tell him, my band doctor, that I had this done? Ok, now I need everyone to tell me it's gonna be ok and it's not gonna hurt and I'm not going to cancel my appt. I've got some valium I could take, but I don't want that to interfere with the nitrous she gives. Wish me luck:eek

Congratulations! The time will pass and your date will be here before you know it.

I gotter done! I'm home with an ice pack pressed against my jaw. I just want to get this gauze out of my mouth, yuk. She had to cut the wisdom tooth out so now I have to deal with sutures for a week. I took a pain pill, broke it in half, but I may have to take another one in a bit. It's the same kind my DH got last week, but his DR told him to take two at a time. I told her if I hold up my thumb I need more nitr, so I kept holding up both thumbs. That noise, it sounded like she was pulling them from my toes, but it's done. Thanks for the hugs and caring, it helped, (big swollen smile).
