Wow, you look great! I always have a difficult time adjusting the sizes too, so don't feel like you're alone, LOL. Everytime I reduce the size of a picture it turns out blurred or stretched sideways, Kelly did an awesome job.

Come on, plenty of room. Check out the purple walls with black faux treatment.

Eileen, a half a cup, errr. Stretch it out with some Soup if you're still hungry. I could and did eat much more than the half cup after about a week of mushies. Well gang, I'm off to the beach, the Outer Banks in NC, wish I could have the pleasure of meeting another LBT member while I'm in that area. My favorite thing to do there is sit on the deck in the sun and watch the waves roll in, (having an icee cocktail helps the view). I'll have withdrawls for LBT while I'm gone, since it's a summer cottage, I don't have DSL there and I don't think my nerves would take the dial up wait, LOL. Have a great weekend everyone.

I had 2 weeks of liquids, anything that would go through a straw, then 2 weeks of mushy and onto the real food. Sounds like the nutritionst is writing her own book. Just don't overdo it at this point. You were suppose to be healing. Hopefully all is well.

My screwdriver hit the spot this afternoon, now I'll need that cup of java to wake me in the morning. Not a goal yet, but I'm slowly working on it. As for the Protein, I think too much of anything is not good. I believe people who were on the Atkins diet had problems with either kidney stones or gall stones, one of those, due to too much proten. Good Luck!

I keep forgetting to eat it, our popcorn machine is upstairs. We don't use the theater room in the summer because by the time we settle down it's too late to watch a movie. Check out my lil popcorn machine, isn't it cute.

Too cute, poor little croc...

OMG, I remember my first day of mushies, it was heaven. We were having our Christmas party for our employees, (at the local bar, hey, they're roofers), and we had a buffet set up. I made sure there were plenty of mashed taters and gravy, this place puts garlic in the potatoes and they were to die for, one lil spoon full at a time. It was like eating ice cream. I'm so excited for you.

Nervous...can you walk through what happens day of surgery (both before and after)
HarleyNana replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well my memory's a little shaky, but here goes, Monday, AM Drove myself to hospital, checked in at 5:30, too early to have anyone else be inconvenienced, IMO. Checked in, got put in one of those little rooms, had all the vitals checked, put on the little gown, put my clothes, (jogging pants, sweat shirt, tennis shoes, and undies) in a bag, then hopped back on the bed. 7:00 sitting back watching the Today Show, in comes mom and DH. 7:40, nurse inserts IV 7:45, I'm wheeled away. 9:30, wake up in room, legs in shackles, just kidding, those blow up things that keep you from getting blood clots In and out of it through out the morning and early afternoon. Family visits, I sleep through most of their visit Around 9:00 pm I decide it's time to walk, so I take a couple of tours down the hall and around the nurses station, pushing my little pole. 2:00 am up and walking again. 8:00 am down to xrays to have the swallow test 10:00 headed home, stopped to get coffee, then on the puter by early afternoon Took it easy Tuesday Wed, drove to grocery store, and got on with my new life. Nervous is natural and normal, you'll do fine, good luck! -
Nekked here too, last time I did that in the hallway at the doctors office, boy were they pissed.

Needing a hug and a kick in the pants...long posts

Truly sorry to hear of your loss, but you have another friend .... your band, just waiting to help you out in a different area, your new life. We all have bumps in the road, but you hurdle over them when the time is right and move along. There have been a few banders who have lost like a g-bypass patient, but most of us crawl at a small pace, but we knew that head on, before we made this decision. Right now you need to heal with the loss of a very dear loved one, first things first, then back on track, or we'll track you down and gittcha. Hugs!!!! -

I also had the, OMG, what have I done syndrome, but I'm so now loving my band, through all the slimes and pb's, I love my band. You can do it, we've all been in your shoes, you can do it and you will be so glad you did when you start wearing those smaller sizes and looking so great.

Glad everyone enjoyed my neighbors puppy.

I truly think all the refried beans and chili I ate so much of during early banding is what promoted so much muscle gain. I lived on Taco Bell refried beans and Wendy's chili the 2nd and 3rd months.

My doctor and I have had this discussion several times. You would think it is based on size or weight of patient, but when my mom was banded in April (at the age of 73), she was a lot heavier than I was at band time, so I assumed he would use the larger band, wrong! He said it depends on the inside of a person, not the outside, his words to me were, "you're mom is small on the inside, so I used the small band on her as well". Then when I kept having problems with too much restriction, I blamed it on the small band and so he further explained. This is my analogy, if he had tried to use the larger band, it would be like running a piece of plastic through a waist band that was much larger than the material and how the material wouldn't go around the plastic and sit right. Remember the stomach is now stitched around the band so it won't move as easily. Gee I hope that made sense.

Usually on weekends I meet the family for breakfast out, sometimes the scrambled eggs and cheese go down and stay down, sometimes it doesn't. Typically if I do breakfast, I'll have a few soy chips with peanut butter or a Zone bar, (16grms protein) or South Beach bar. I've even had egg salad out of the container in the AM, late AM.
-
Egg and tuna salad, with real mayo. My doctor said to use the real stuff. Lots of protein and the egg salad goes down really easy if chopped and chewed really well.

Vines, are my lil horns shinning through, hehehehhehe?

I agree with Paula, although, when I'm with other people and not near a sink, I'm much slower and more cautious.

When I first started the mushy stage I ate small amounts, because I was afraid to eat too much, but then when I found out I could, I did, but I always kept the idea in mind that I didn't want to stretch my new tummy. I think that 1/2 cup thing is from nutritionist who are still in the G-bypass mode.
