After reading your post, I'm at a loss for words, that a physician would give you such poor advice. If you really like this doctor, I would ask him if he has been banded and to further explain his "theory". As all have said here, the band is a tool, it does not replace food. I've been banded almost four years and sometimes I look at food wish I could eat it, but I know my band will not tolerate it, so I have to make another choice, but to say food disgusts me....NOT. Also, it does not sound that your doctor is a true advocate for the lapband. Keep us informed.

I agree with TP, this is NOT normal, please seek medical advice immediately. Your girlfriend is fortunate to have someone like you who cares. Please keep us informed.

Lisa, we all have various pain levels, personally, I was a little uncomfortable, but not in severe pain. Stopped taking pain meds the second day. Maybe my doctor was more gentle, LOL, who knows, but we are all different when it comes to pain. Walking really helps the healing and is good for you too. Being put to sleep is one of my biggest fears, along with getting a blood clot afterwards. Lapband is a very fast surgery, my surgery took less than 25 mintutes, and that included fixing a hiatal hernia. You'll be fine, stop watching those crazy movies, LOL. Let us know how it goes.

IMO, weight loss is so individual. I, personally, still see myself as a fat person. I see every lump and bump. Personality wise, I'm more confident and definitely, loving life more. As for others, I agree, I've witnessed people close to me who were not even considered fat or overweight, lose a few pounds and become bitch-divas, act like their "stuff" doesn't stink. Yet, I know others who have lost lots of weight and are still their sweet self, just excited and in love with their self in a good way. Weight loss is a wonderful thing, but I have seen many relationships destroyed, not by the person who lost the weight, but by the spouse that beings to cheat, because, he/she, is no longer the dominating spouse...I hope that makes sense.

Has anyone heard from Philip? I'd love to know how he's doing. Blossom was my lapband buddy , I still miss her....:thumbup:.

Trish, me, energy, lol, just busy, busy, busy, fortunately and blessed it's mostly fun stuff, or things I do by choice. DH and I went to a party last night, saw lots of people I hadn't seen for a while, OMG, I swear, I'm NOT bragging, but I got so many compliments about my weight loss, my hair, just pumped me up, all I could think is...."can't touch this, LOL".

Donna, u's not fat, just your innards are . Dr. T said it all depends on the inside, nothing to do with how much you have to lose. I was about the same size as you and I have the 4cc, my mom was around 240 and she has a 4cc, so it just depends. Also, the fill will help, as long as he hits the target, lol, don't know if I told you, but he missed my port on my first fill, which was HIS first fill too, without flouro. I'm so glad he only does t with flouro now. Will be back later girls, I'm on a mission to clean out some drawers today. Hugs

I laughed my butt off at this thread, at the time I was banded, almost 4 years ago, I had been married 36 years. Hello...that's 36 years, so I told my hubby the doctor said no sex for three months! Of course, I told him I was joking, but what a reaction.

Sorry I've been missing gals, I've been at my beach house since Monday, WITHOUT without wifi hookup, but I took care of that yesterday, I signed up for that Verizon wireless, so, I'll be connected anywhere, I'm loving it. I was having a terrible case of withdrawls. I started to just sign up with my local cable company, but decided on the Verizon wireless, so I can use it anywhere we travel. My cost was $16,750, (also self-pay), plus a few incidentals. I must say, insurance or not, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Dr. Terracina was my surgeon, If you decide to go to Hpt Roads WLS, tell him Pat, his first lapband patient, said hello.

Congratulations on your decision. I have been banded almost 4 years now and have no regrets. This is a great site for support of a types, I wish you the best.
