My band has made me a happier, healthier, lighter person. Obviously, I love being lighter, but I love being happier even more. I would do it again in a heartbeat. My only regret is the band was not available when I was much younger and could have been happier with me longer.

Hey girlies, Kat, you're going to Texas? I'm jealous, I wanna go, so I can meet Betty, Rene and Cindy. Deb, you got it right, thanks for the wish. Hope the lil one is ok, lots of snotty nosed kids around these parts. The doctor's office is standing room only. They even closed some of the schools. Mindy, hope DD is doing better, it's so sad when you don't know how to help. You're making the right choice to stay on top of things and be informed. Oh yeah, wanted to share this little bit of info, water vs wine....It has been scientifically proven that if we drink 1 liter of water >each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 >kilo of Escherichia coli bacteria found in feces, in other words, we >are consuming 1 kilo of poop! > >However, we do not run that risk when drinking wine (or rum, whiskey, >vodka, beer or other liquors) because alcohol has to go through a >distillation process of boiling, filtering and fermenting. > >It is better to drink wine and talk chit than to drink water and be >full of chit. >There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I am >doing this as a fellow bandster :biggrin1: Later chicka whats? LOL

Met woman with same surgical date
HarleyNana replied to mariecarmen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My band partner, who I met the day after surgery, not only was banded the same day, right after me, but we share the same birthday, how's that for strange. -
I surely hope her mom doesn't get the baby, seem she's out for notoriety, she was on all those talk shows before Anna died, talking smack about Anna, shame on her....all about $$$$. And the daddy is ??????

Pretty much anything you can smush with a fork. Chicken can be run through the blender or food processor to make chicken salad, even the pickles.

I like the way RB put that, a food snob. You'll be able to eat lots of things, maybe a few foods won't agree, but you'll soon discover which ones, but since you'll be eating slower, you'll savor what you eat. My kids call me microwave mama, but since my band I actually cook more, not a lot mind you, but I actually use the stove now..

To be nervous is quite normal, you'll be fine. Hugs!

No protein drinks?
HarleyNana replied to anonemouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't drink them either, because I thought it had to go in milk, but about a year later, I discovered I could use it in a fruit smoothy, but I'm still not a regular with it, wish I was though. -
I was just telling my mom, who is also banded, that I think my band is heat activated. We had 84 degree weather today and nothing went down well. Yesterday, I way over ate, come on summer, LOL.

I agree Jack, I noticed another thread a few minutes ago, asking about a good Lapband book, I found much more support and guidance here than I did in any article or from my doctor's office. We don't always agree, which is not a bad thing, but I loved the word used above....debate...

I may start a contorversy...but here goes
HarleyNana replied to Janine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Janine, my first mushy was French Onion soup with a side of mashed potatoes with garlic, thought I'd gone to heaven. Just take it slow. Did your doctor leave any fill in your band during surgery. -
Coldwater Creek girl, the sale of the century's going on. If they'll fit my fat arse, I know they'll fit your skinny one. My problem is the top, still have to get the XL and 1X.

Tilapia is more like flounder to me, very mild and almost a sweet taste, especially with a little tarter sauce. Last week I ordered the Grouper sandwich at Hooters, without the bread, it was a very mild, great tasting fish. Since I love tuna, the fishy taste doesn't bother me too much, but let me get a bone in my mouth and I'll start gagging and that's it, I can't go back to that piece. Italian dressing is great on any type of fish, nuked, grilled, or broiled. I put a few slices of onion under mine to keep it from sticking to the pan, and it picks up the flavor of the onion.

To Tan or not to Tan....
HarleyNana replied to synicalchick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been using the Jergen's tanning lotion, it's awesome. No streaks and makes your legs look good too, has a funny smell, but goes away. I tried the Hawaiian Tropic tanning lotion, it's awful, streaks and has a strange color. -
Ok I'm back, boy the Sears guy is a ball of personality, he must really hate his job, what a grump. Sherry, did you find your tickets, let me help, you put them right where you'd be able to find them..on top of the fridge?, in the side door panel of the car or the glove box? where you keep all the past birthday cards?, with the safety deposit box keys? in that most favorite drawer with all the other paperwork that needs to be addressed or filed?, in your laptop case or briefcase pocket?, well I tried.

Whippledaddy Has Passed Away
HarleyNana replied to lapbander081004's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Darcy, thanks for summing it up for so many of us here. He was such the protector, I hope Patty is doing ok, has anyone heard from her? -
Good Morning Ladies, It's supposed to be 84 here today, woohoo, all I can think about is Betty's beautiful flowers. I'm going to see if I can find a few plants on line. Kat, the Dora ice cream was a secret, LOL. I'm waiting on the Sears guy as I sit here typing, my stand alone ice machine died, right after I cleaned it, ran it through the self clean cycle, guess I cleaned it to death. Rene the monkeys returned me, lol. It was a great weekend and birthday. When are you traveling to VA, you're every place, but here. Darcy, I'm sorry you missed time with your real dad, memories are part of what makes us who we are, but if it's any consolation, it looks like you were pretty happy when you WERE with him, cute pic. Ms Retired Cindy, lovin life I'm sure..Sounds like you're pretty busy and haven't touched on the retired life yet. Eileenie, those darn bosses, just who do they think they are getting two for the price of one. You should at least get some comp time for working so hard. My gson's mom just got a promotion, without the raise...WTF! Mandy, sounds like DD is on the right track. Just remember, that's part of the constitution, all children are entitled to a quality eduction, or something like that, ask Cindy. Oops, Sears guy is here, WBBL

I was self pay and had the psych evaluation, but I respect my band and my doctor's advice. Macho and the band don't mix, just my opinion. (I still enjoy my Splenda, LOL) -

HarleyNana replied to Tired_Old_Man's topic in The Lounge
Tell Tina I'm bumping 60 and I don't like it either, turned 57 yesterday, but in a positive mode, I'll be blessed to be healthier, happier and hopefully a little wiser. -
It's been over two years for me and I do miss my Diet Coke, but I don't miss those 50+ pounds...big smile!

Pepsi has a new flavored water, lemon-mango or mango-lemon....yummm.

Jubjub, I think you're taking a chance eating what you "think" is ok, just because it goes down, does not mean it may not be causing complications. You're still healing at this point. I'm like momlamber, I respect my band, and the early stage is the most important time to listen to your doctor. Why would you want to take those chances, it makes me wonder why you got the band if you're not going to listen to your doctor, what's the point? Don't mean to be harsh, but think about it, please. -
White cheddar cheese puffs, ya know the ones that dissolve in your mouth....stay away from the cheese puffs!

Your protein drink doesn't have to be a shake, I hate milk, so I use oj, ice, and frozen fruits, blended well with rice protein and makes a refreshing smoothie. The frozen berries, are good antioxidants to boot.
