I have a little pill cutter, works great, Cod Liver Oil gel filled bothers me. B-12's no problem. Sorry JOJO, but I couldn't imagine "chewing" several of my pills. AND, who ever came up with "PB"? I call it slimming or spitting back, just my observation, LOL.

Do you have pain when you breath in deep?
HarleyNana replied to imb316's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not a doctor and yes, you should ask your doctor, but my port is stitched to a muscle, so you may still be healing. Now three years later, I can move a certain way and feel a slight shot of pain, but nothing I worry about . -
Not to steal this thread, but does anyone live in Reunion? We're thinking of buying a winter home there. Any suggestions?
-
Laura, my advice would be to get it done before summer, so you can enjoy the results during the summer.

I squeezed the girls into a 38 DD yesterday, wasn't the most comfortable fit, but it was better than this stretch sports bra, LOL. I'm using the Mederma and it seems to be helping with the redness. It's hard to remember to use it 3-4 times a day, but I massage it in pretty hard, so hopefully, the scars will fade sooner. I'll try to do updated pictures soon

How bad is the pain from the surgery?
HarleyNana replied to Startingover!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On a scale from 1-10, for me it was maybe a 3 , I dreaded being put to sleep worse than the surgery. I just had a TT and breast redu/lift, again, being put to sleep and the threat of blood clots scared me more than the surgery itself. Now on a scale of 1-10, definately, more than a 3. I truly believe the key to recovery is keep moving. It may be uncomfortable, but it is so important for the blood to circulate. Wish you the best. -
My mom was 74 when she got approved, so there's hope  three years ago, go mom!

Kat, by the way, your avatar is one of my favorites, because it does look so genuine, you cutie pie!

Leatha, it was so awesome running across your posts. I too have missed you and so many of the 2004-2005 bandsters. Thank you so very much for sharing your story, the loss of the band is one of my biggest fears. Hugs to you dear lady, please drop in from time to time, I know I'm not alone in saying, I care.

I forgot to mention, I always order my Water and a dish of lemons, then when the server brings the bill, I ask for a to go cup with a little ice, then by the time I'm on my way, I'm ready for my ice cold water. I do sometimes take a few sips prior to eating, but I do not as a rule drink anything while I'm eating.

Haydee, I have to disagree (respectfully, I might add), but I don't eat half of the things I did prior to banding. I don't eat bread, rice, steak or poatoes, just the thought of bread makes me tighten up, LOL, but that's a choice I've made. Lots of people are able to eat what they ate before, but not me, which is ok for me. As for restaurants, I've cooked once in the last month, that was today and it was chili, so eating out is pretty much a given for me and DH. Although, I've been banded for more than three years, I still have my moments, sitting near the restrooms can be a plus .

I didn't have to do clear liquids, just liquids for two weeks, then to mushies, then solid foods. Clear liquids, now that is a tough one!

You all are too kind, thank you all ever so much, I'm truly humbled, I mentioned in another thread today, I must have post op blues, been a yoyo day, but y'all have made it all better. Hugs all around!

Kat, even with a reduction, if I tried wearing a halter top, I'd break my darn neck! The girls are still heavy . As for the high cut suits, I do prefer those as opposed to the tight around the top of the leg suits.

Glad you're doing well, keep moving, I truly believe that is key to an easier recovery.

I went in Hardees and thought I was gonna vommit
HarleyNana replied to Kimberly Henson Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Actually, my doctor said I could have anything that would go through a straw, but not to use a straw. Hubby would bring home a little container of gravy, I'd blend it though my lil magic bullet blender, then dip my spoon in it and OMG, it was sooooo good and filling. -
Amber, I didn't realize when I posted in another thread that you had cancelled your surgery. Again, I do understand your feelings, if I hadn't paid so much $$ for my plastic surgery, I know I would have cancelled, but now, I'm so glad I did it. You're fortunate to have such a support team, not only your DH, but the folks here at LBT. Hugs, you'll know when you're ready.

Protein first, protein, protein, protein. It's what satisfies your appetite. I refused to even try Protein shakes, because I don't like milk, ugh, and I can't stand the smell of most protein. I use a rice based protein, not as high in protein as whey or soy, but it works for me. I use the little magic bullet blender, 1/2 crushed ice, a few frozen strawberries, 2 scoops of protein, 1/2 a banana and either light orange juice or fill up the container with flavored Water. Blend well and it's very filling. If I don't use a banana, I might add a little splenda or a variety of other frozen fruits. I keep two small frozen containers in my freezer, one with strawberries and one with mixed fruits, for easy access, that way you don't have to pull out those big bag of frozen fruits when you're in the mood for a Protein shake.

OK, where is everyone this morning? I've been a bucket mouth today, bored I'm telling you, I'll bet I've done 15 posts today, LOL. Gotta get started with the "fake" chili, hope you all have a "super" day. Hugs

Welcome to LBT, I was self pay, had few hoops to jump, plus I was my surgeon's first lapband patient. I was so ready and love my band. Good luck!
-
My first fill, was without flouro, my doctor missed my port, but it does take a few fills to realize you've had a fill. Keep in mind everyone's comfort zone is not the same. I've been banded three years and I'm 2.2 in a 4 cc band, haven't had a fill in almost a year. Just remember to eat your Protein first.

favorite foods you can no longer eat
HarleyNana replied to mustlose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't eat bread, rice, or potatoes, basically nothing white, except for Hardees sausage n gravy . I have to admit, after three years, a great big juicy cheeseburger does sound tempting, but the thought of that getting caught in my band...no thanks. -
I was at my regular spa one day, getting nails done, when one of the girls was "missing", I asked where she was, and was told she was doing a Briz' waxing, well a few minutes later, out walks this GUY! After he left, I said, WTF? They said, he comes in once a month and gets EVERYTHING waxed, even his butt hole. OK, so now my mouth is hanging open and I'm asking for details on how this is done. They laughed and explained, one holds the cheek to the side and the other waxes, then they switch sides. I'm like..girls, that's beyond the call of duty, they said it's just a job! I told them if I got the nerve to do the Braz, I was demanding new wax, they said they don't double dip, WHATEVER, lol.

2 problems on postop day 2
HarleyNana replied to kaninag's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd check with the doctor, I understand some doctors are adding a little fill at the time of surgery, did yours? Are you stapled or glued or stitches, seems there's a variety of ways doctors are closing the incisions. I think that would be key to whether it's too early for the strips to come off. Mine fell off within a few days after surgery during/after showers.
