One-on-one holiday exercise challenge, anyone?
HarleyNana replied to Zoe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Betty, that was quite inspirational. I mixed sugar-free candy in with my chocolatie-green and red wrapped candies. Believe it or not, I always chose the sugar-free, as Martha would say, "that was a good thing". I think I'll wait until tomorrow to weigh, I just ate 4 prunes. -
Sounds like a wonderful family gathering. Sorry you couldn't reach your mom, but with those road conditions, I'm sure she understood. Thanks for sharing.

Mystery Illness/What's wrong with me?

Hello Lauri, I see you're reading this site, please drop us a line and let us know how you are. -
Michelle, you look MARVELOUS darling! Those legs, wow. I know you and your family and friends are so proud. You've done an outstanding job! I love it when the bandsters show the before and after and work in progress photos. Great job, I can hardly "weight", excuse the pun.

First Fill, Not sure what to expect
HarleyNana replied to momhappe1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This time of year is especially hard for all of us I think. My way of coping during the various feast was to use a saucer, with very small amts, small bites, chew chew chew, plus I make myself leave at least a bite of something. Then I look at what everyone else is eating and say that WAS my way of eating, they're small/normal size and can do that I can not. Then if I graze back to the table for seconds, I'm still way ahead mentally because I would have been getting seconds on a large plate and eating every bite and nibbling without the plate, lol. So nice not to be a nibbler anymore, well at least not nearly as much. On the mushy stage only so much nibbling you can do. Good luck. -
Refried beans have been my best friend this last week, but all I get is gas. The guy at TacoBell thinks I'm addicted to those things, I expect him to say, "you again", anyday. Humm creamed spinach, I've got some creamed spinach and artichoke dip, yum.

Congratulations Phyllis, enjoy your new journey with your band. As for the red incision, watch for any drainage. I wouldn't take a bath if it's still open, only showers, less chance for infection. I let my surgi strips fall off on their own, with a little help of clean soap and water. I was careful not to let my shampoo get on mine in the shower. Only a few more days to the mushy stage, yummmmm.

Ok since I don't have a fill yet, I shouldn't have to worry about pb, right? Also, once I'm filled Jan 10, does that pb thing happen right away or is there a warning, I had more tonight than I've had since Dec 4. Sucked the creame out of a creampuff, chicken salad and some well chewed crackers. Did I over do it?

Way to go Darcey, enjoy those liquids and your journey as a bandster and the new you. I'm in the mushy stage, wahoo! Although, those mushies were a little more than mushy tonight, this wonderful Christmas Eve. I did chew really well though gang. Almost 3 weeks out, hope I didn't stretch anything. All feels well.

Another role model, happy anniversary.

Have a safe and fun trip.

Been several days since I've gone potty. I'm in the mushy stage, I had hoped the refried beans would do the trick, but not! Any natural suggestions?

I was banded same day as Fran, never had tummy pains, but the shoulder pain was awful. My dh was kind enough to massage it for me and it really helped. I didn't try the gasx because mine would come and go, thankfully it's gone now. It will pass, excuse the pun.

Poor thing, I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. Coughing, pb'ng, & can't keep anything down, that's an awful feeling I'm sure. Hope you can keep some liquids down so you don't dehydrate. Let us know how you're doing.
-
That gives you a chance to get all that water down. TG for the mushy stage.

How did you ever have a weight issue eating that stuff? My oldest son was pouring ketsup on his lunch one day and one of his co-workers asked him why he put so much ketsup on everything, his reply..."obviously, you've never tasted my mom's cooking".

She's such a cutie

I'm glad this post is staying at the top of the page, because every time I see it, it reminds me to go drink my vitamins. Thanks Penni

Eating everything on my plate was never a problem, that's why I'm a bandster now. I have always eaten because I like the taste, not because I was hungry....now it's because I'm hungry and looking for protein. I've come a long way baby!

Teresa don't sign anything and be very careful what you do say. Take notes, seriously, of any changes in the way you feel, headache, soreness, etc. Don't let the ins company intimidate you into signing before you know you're ready. Make them give you a rental car. Start talking lawyer if they don't. Take care of yourself.

Thanks for the pics, I couldn't imagine you ever being heavy, but I guess the proof is in the pics. Great job!

Jack, You're as Ready as Can Be...12/21
HarleyNana replied to New Hope's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good luck all of you being banded the 21st. Seems to be a big day in bandland. -
Mamsi makes a point of excluding wls of all types in their contract. My dh just asked me if the ins paid for my surgery, I told him no, then he asked how much, I just said, less than any of your Harley's, that was the end of that...he has 5.

I know my doctor did a swallow test the am after surgery, I thought that was to see if the band had a leak and to be sure everything was in position. You best believe I will be reviewing this info with my Dr before the fill. I may have mentioned in a previous post, he was familiar with filling the port without fluoro because he treated patients with cancer and had to use a similar device for injections. Thanks for all the information, gee looks like I might have to order that book and give it to my Dr. for Cmas present.
