I have two grown sons, both of which were slobs and one still would be except his wife picks up after him every day and night. He never closed a drawer or a door, clothes would be falling out of every drawer, keep in mind all drawers on the dresser were open. Where ever he stepped out of his clothes is where they remained, until he ran out of clean clothes then he would finally gather and drop off in the laundry room. I learned to close the door to keep my sanity. The younger son is living with us until his house is finished, OMG, 1 more week, then I'll be able to get that room back to normal. I don't have the patience for it now that I use to I'll tell ya that!

I have the blender, smoothie maker, and a hand held elec chopper/blender/mixer, all of which are in a cabinet in the garage. The magic bullet replaces all of the above. TrishS, your DH and I share the same Birthday.

Falling off the Wagon - slipping into the old "comfort zone"
HarleyNana replied to NancySmiles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
One more piece of advice, if you/we're gonna be bad we have to be bad with good choices, like a low carb choc candy bar, s/f ice cream or s/f candy. If we're gonna over eat, let it be Protein. Nix the starches. Like Donali said, this is not a diet, this is it folks, this has got to work, this is the last rodeo, and an expensive one for us self payers. We will make good choices, we will make good choices, we will! -
Trish it's just smaller, cuter, and easier clean up, just in my opinion. No buttons to clean, just a couple of drops of dish deterg, screw the top back on and stick it on the bullet for about 5 sec, then rinse. I threw in some ice, oj, couple of frozen strayberries, half a banana, yummm. You can also use fruit cocktail in a can, but if you get the "light", you may need to add some sweet and low or splenda. Keep the recipes coming.

Everyone is different, which is why so many additional ideas and suggestions help. I've learned things on here my wonderful doctor probably wouldn't know how to advise on. Such a wealth of info here.

Penni, you're not well girl! Tea and cereal, OMG! Potato chips and chocolate, yummm, must be the salt.

You go girl! That's wonderful and inspirational, I mean the candy bar part, LOL.

Falling off the Wagon - slipping into the old "comfort zone"
HarleyNana replied to NancySmiles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can do it Nancy, make good food choices NOW, not tomorrow, start now. As I'm typing this, I'm telling myself to stay in control. I went for a bit of an unfill today and I stopped on the way home and got almost a half a pound of egg salad, and ate the entire thing! But it was soooo good. I hadn't been able to keep anything down since last Wed a week ago, but now it's back to self control and it IS so hard. Summer's coming and I want to be able to wear shorts that don't ride up between my legs, goal #2. I met my 1st goal this week the 30 lb mark. YOU CAN DO IT.....FOCUS! GOOD FOOD CHOICES, Water, GOOD FOOD CHOICES AND MORE WATER! -

By the time you pay all that shipping and handling you can usually buy it close to home and you know who you're dealing with, plus if it's a problem with it, it's right around the corner, JMO. Which ever route you take, you'll enjoy the magic bullet I'm sure.

Where is the first place you lost weight?
HarleyNana replied to Iluvharleys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My face, then my legs and then the boobs. -
You call that slow, you will be upset if things do slow down. Most of us only average 1-2 lbs a week if we're lucky. You go girl!

My son's gfriend just had surgery to reset a broken leg and she had to take out her body piercings. The doctor was doing the typical run down of questions, her mom was standing there with her, and he said, ok all jewelry removed right? She looked at her mom, then my son, then back at the doctor, then she said, wellllllll, all that you can see. Yuk, anyway, they took the others out after she got to the OR. Talk about embarrassin, so I'd say, #1-Not unless you're really hairy #2-Oh yeah #3-Pretty typical Take care

Got 2nd Fill, but have no restriction
HarleyNana replied to Mariposa Bella's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh Alex, I so agree about the overfill. If I don't get through today without pbing then I'm getting some taken out tomorrow. I've been telling myself it's just swelling or I didn't chew enough, but when I can't do chili something's not right, especially after the sun goes down. It seems more restricted at night, how weird is that? I can't even get my Protein to stay down. I feel great, but I don't want to make myself sick or start losing hair. Pretty bad when a milk shake comes back. I'm sorry Estela, I didn't mean to hog your thread, but I'm just saying too filled is not good either. Blossom, you're so patient I'd be so depressed, you've got a good positive attitude, I admire that. -
What a birthday present to yourself. Good luck.

Mine only came with the mixer, 4 mugs and 2 containers. The juicer and pitcher are optional or they come with the $99.00 set. I've seen them on sale at Walgreens for $49.00

18 Days Till I Get My Band!!!
HarleyNana replied to Jammin & Losin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tic, tic, tic, tic, tic, tic, tic, tic, ...... -
I'm a righty, above the waist and to the right of where the belly button should be and sewed into the muscle, or the muscle sewed around it, well, you know what I mean. Oh yea, I did this same thread several months ago, it's a fun thread.

food stuck...help...and introduction
HarleyNana replied to a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've also noticed for me it happens more often when I'm starving and I've waited too long to eat. -
I only had to do 1 day, thank goodness. There are a lot of creamy soups out there now, they worked for me during the liquid stage post op. One day at a time and in the end it's all worth it. It will be over before you know it, good luck.

I posted a thread last week, I got one for Christmas from my workers. Just last Friday, I took it out of the box. Either me or my son has used it everyday. He drinks all this protein/whey stuff and it mixes it up in 10 sec. He's new house will be finished in a couple of weeks and he'll be moving back out:banana , and he said the other day he guessed he's have to get one for the new house, hinting it would make a good house warming gift. The cleanup is what impresses me the most. I add a drop of dish det, fill 1/2 full with Water, put the top on and let her spin for 10 sec, then rinse. And it's so small, it sits in the appliance closet on my counter with my coffee pot. Buy it at Walmart or Kmart, then if you don't like it, they'll take anything back there. Enjoy! I'm kicking my own butt for not opening it during the mushy stage.

I could tell a little in my clothes and my face after 15 lb, but I knew it would take 30 lbs for anyone to notice. So, now it's been 31 lbs, and I've had 2 people ask if I've lost weight, but family who knew of the wls tell me they can see it in my face. I've also had a couple of people ask me if my hair is different. I want to yell, "No, I've lost 31 lbs", LOL.

I had the same crazy thoughts too. I'd be sitting there thinking, omg, I've got a strange object in my tummy, then I thought of all the hips and knees that get replaced everyday. At first I wouldn't touch the port, now I push it all the time to make sure it's still there, where I want it! Enjoy your band.

food stuck...help...and introduction

Welcome to slimeworld, it really sounds gross, but it's so much better once you've gotten the cuprit out. Don't know if I'll ever learn to chew enough, that and too large of a bite -
Please explain the monovision. I can see a fly on a billboard across the highway, but I can't read the newspaper or the phonebook, would I be a candidate for that? I had both of my sons fixed by Lasik, they're sooo thrilled with theirs. My youngest even called the doctor at home and told him how happy he was.
