just one week has passed and i am ready to give up!
HarleyNana replied to a_bit_pink's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Marie is right again, when you start feeling sad or down, get that mouse and click away. I remember watching my son eat sushi, (he did bring me some soup, yuk tufu), I was about 3 days out of surgery, omg, I almost started crying. I clicked on LBT and through the support of these wonderful folks, I too was reminded I was healing and I would be able to partake in food again and family outings, (I was just starting the mushy stage at Christmas). Great advice here, I'm off and on here all day, pm me any time. -
I came home on Tuesday and drove on Wednesday, BUT, I was told to wait a week. As for calories in the liquid stage, I had no restriction, this is the healing time. More important that calories was Protein. IMO and my nutritionist, protein was more important until you get your first fill. Good Luck PS, your band date is my birthday.

Back from Belgium and Banded
HarleyNana replied to Madeline's mom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations and welcome aboard the band wagon. Take it easy and don't try to do too much too fast. -
Yes, I had one too. The purpose is to clear the lungs to prevent pneumonia or lung fluids. I used mine for several days after getting home. Glad you're feeling better...day by day!

New report on the news today that MO is shortening the average life span, (imagine that), but insurance companies still refuse to pay. There was a lot of emphasis put on obese children, which become obese adults. Hopefully, help is on the way.

I didn't have a lot of pain, mostly discomfort. I had 1 night in the hospital, and once I was home I took 1/2 a pain pill the first night, just cause I wanted to be sure I'd sleep well, not because I was in pain. I didn't have tummy gas pains, but left shoulder pain, which was eased with massage. I was driving in a couple of days, (doctor said wait a week), but I felt great, BUT, everyone's different. Good luck to you.

I think you need to take a deep breath and start anew. You've got to give it time. I was on liquids for two weeks, then mushy. My doctor told me I could have anything that would go through a straw. I don't like milk or milk products, though I do like some ice cream. I used a lot of creamy type Soups to get me through, often I strained the chunks out and drank the Soup left. No one said it was easy, but the rewards are there if you're patient. I'm 3.5 months post op and I face challenges every day, but with the help of my band I will conquer this weight, and you can too. This is a temporary thing, I think we all go through the stage of, "omg what have I done", but again it's temporary. You will find you're able to eat anything you want, or at least mostly, but you have to make wise/smart food choices once the healing is done and the fill has been added. I'm in the solid foods stage, but I still don't do well with all solids, I have a problem every time I try homecooked mashed taters, but that's just me. I don't do bread but every once in a while, again, that's my choice. Yes, I did get depressed the 2nd week for about a day, then I reminded myself this was a choice I made and by golly it's gonna work. You go girl, you can do it! -
When my father passed away five years ago, my grandson's mother gave me a Rose of Sharon. We were in the process of building a new home at the time, and couldn't plant it. I have babied that bush/tree and dared anyone to run over it or crush it, it has been in a pot, then in the ground, back in a pot, and soon to go back in the ground, along with an additional Rose of Sharon, in honor of sweet Blossom. What a wonderful idea Vera, thanks for sharing Greg. And like everyone else, she has been on my mind all day as well.

Dearest Philip, Thank you so very much for taking the time to share those last hours with us. My heart aches for you, may the good Lord give you strength to carry on and get that house built. Hopefully, building the house will occupy your time and your mind, and help you heal. May God Bless and keep you.

Since being banded I've become a Mexican food junkie, chili, refried beans, soft tacos, less the taco, lol. All that protein and fiber, yum.
-
Soft foods settle with me and stay with me longer than solids. I don't do well with solids at all, well, at least back when I had restriction. You're right, it is easy to fall into the easy to eat habit, takes much less time to chew, LOL.

I too feel guilty posting anything, but I think Blossom would want us to keep encouraging each other and to keep spreading comforting thoughts among us.

Congratulations, I made small reachable goals, my first was to have a 30 lb loss, which I reached a couple of weeks ago. Now my goal is another 20. What is your next goal?
-
That does sound good, except for the cottage cheese, I'd probably try fat free sour cream and shreaded cheese. Thanks for the info.

Ouch, I feel for you, I hate going to the dentist. You're so brave!

Dear Phillip, (Mr. Blossom) I hope you are following this thread. When the word has spread of our terrible loss, you will find through the wonderful words of our members the joy Blossom brought to all of us and how she touched our hearts. You were so blessed to have shared your life with such a caring and loving person. Though I only knew her a few months through this site, I felt like she was an old friend. When I needed to ask a question on a thread or through a personal note, she was always there with a lending ear and suggestion. I know she's looking down at all of us right now and she's winking and saying, "I'm at my goal now, the biggest goal of all". May your wonderful memories sustain you during this most difficult time, and please know I will be thinking of you.

I'm sitting here tears streaming, I never met her in person, but I loved her in my heart. I wish I had known I would have sent flowers. What a terrible loss, OMG, I thought she was truly one of the sweetest ladies on here. We've lost a wonderful member of this board. My heartfelt condolences to her family and our other members who feel the loss I feel. I remember that beautiful blonde hair and beautiful avatar before she changed it, she will surely be missed.

Doctor says I have Hypothyroidism !!!
HarleyNana replied to MomCeo111's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been taking synthroid for years and I couldn't wait to get the band. The problem with being diagnosed with Hypo is they put you into a "range". What's to say, what is average for you is average for me. It's a guessing game and what is prescibed for one person with the same "range", may not be enough or too much for another person in the same "range". Make sense? -
Just wanted to say thank you to all.....

Sharon, you and your doctor know what's best for you. We're all fortunate to have so many options to pick from. Good luck on your weight loss journey, what ever path you choose. -
