Well said again Jonathan. It's obvious you're enjoying your band.

Just banded and miserable

I forgot to mention I was sick on my stomach too, very nauseous, my doctor changed the pain med and it took care of the sickness. Good luck. -

Are you still on pain meds? Often it's the pain meds that make people sick. Either have the meds changed or quit taking them if you can. Hope you're better real soon and off to a good journey. -
Straight from the heart Jonathan, well said. Good luck!

Mine are still purple, but they're fading more and more each day. I agree, they're more like puncture wounds than scars. Oh boy, pictures, I love when everyone shares pictures.

Congratulations on the band. Believe it or not, each day gets better and better. Take care of yourself.

When can I remove my 4x4's for good?
HarleyNana replied to Ezzysmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I took the bandages off during my first shower, but the steri strips stayed on until they came off on their own over a period of showers. -
I keep telling myself I can't do bread, just so I'll stay away from it. I did nibble on a tuna sandwich one day, but it was a little sticky going down. Like the above thread says, crunch stuff, omg I can eat the heck out of some nachos and salsa. I don't do well with taters at all, anytime I eat any kind I can plan on a major pb attack. I've gotten use to using soy chips with my egg salad and pretty much anything I'd use bread for.

Well, New LIfe: 1-Yes the gas does go away, did you try Gas-x, several people said that helped, but I didn't have tummy gas, only the left shoulder ache. 2-I'm 4 months out and I just have purple blemeshes on my tummy, not like I'm getting the bikini out anyway. 3-I use the green liquid Vitamin from the Vitamine Shoppe, Source of Life, one capful a day and you're done. 4-Who to tell is an individual choice, me, I don't care who knows, my life, my money, and my weight loss. I hope you feel better with each day. As to the depression, I went through that on about day 3 or 4, I thought OMG, what have I done, as I sat watching my son eat sushi that made my mouth Water, as I sipped my broth. That too will pass, you've made a wonderful decision that will impact the rest of your life in a most positive way. I wish you the best.

How do you feel about kids banded?
HarleyNana replied to princess_n_thep's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Karen, if I had a 17 year old, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Why put her through additional years of anguish. I think you've prepared yourself and your daughter for this new journey and you've made a good example of yourself. Good for you lady! Like I explained on my earlier thread about my neice, she's miserable and she could be on her way to a happier, healthier young lady. -
I was miffed because my DH wouldn't go with me to the local Mexican restaurant so on my way home, in the wind driven rain, I stopped at Sonic and ordered a banana shake. OMG, it was so thick and sinfully delicious. I didn't drink it all, I think there may have been two tsp left in the bottom, the darn banana kept getting stuck in the straw.

Vera, I'm glad to hear you're home safe and sound. Hope everything heals quickly. Take care of yourself. -

WTG Amber, welcome and good luck on your journey of weight loss. I had my surgery before Christmas, so I was just starting the mushy stage on Christmas, it was a challenge, but I'm lighter for it. The liquid stage is the toughest. As for the pain, it gets better every day. I didn't have tummy pain, only pain in my left shoulder, which massaging helped a lot. Good Luck! -
I think they're a lot like eating steamed crabs, which are done pretty much the same way as crawfish, lots of old bay seasoning, which makes your lips burn. We have crab pickins here, spread out the newspaper and get to picking and lickin. When we were in Lousianna last month they had crawfish on the buffet. Eating them is like eating crabs, takes skill and patience or a person could starve to death.

This second fill kicking my butt...and I need to know what to do...???
HarleyNana replied to sensy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the same thing happen, only I didn't have the problems when lying down. I put up with the pbing for 10 days, then I finally had an unfill. Too much was taken out, now I haven't had any weight loss since the unfill, actually, the weight has gone up and down by a pound, depends which day I weigh. I was so relieved after I got some Fluid taken out, but I'll bet I could eat a hamburger now and barely chew it, (I haven't had a burger since getting banded). I'm getting a refill on Wed, I can hardly wait to start having some weight loss again. I feel like I've been in a terrible limbo and a waste of 20 days. Don't play around with it too long, especially if you're getting that burning in your throat. Good Luck! -
How do you feel about kids banded?

A 12 year old, I can't imagine a circumstance that would allow for that age to be banded. It sounds like the parent took the easy out or was a very pompassssssed parent. There are some parents who can't deal with the idea of having an overweight child, it might embarrass the family. -
Angie, my mom's being banded April 7th. Good luck to you.

Well, I may be a minority, but I believe for the severe MO it should be allowed. I have a neice who is 17 and weighs over 300 and her life is miserable, at school and no social life. She is a smart, straight A student, has a job, and hates life. I think it should be based strictly on a per person basis. If they're mature enough to handle the restrictions and the change of lifestyle. There are some very large teenagers around who could start enjoying a thinner self now and enjoy their thinner life longer. Again, it depends on the person's maturity. I'd much rather see them do this surgery than the bypass. -
I'd make a big down payment on a house for my brother. Poor guy works his ash off and his wife spends it before he gets home with the check and he doesn't have a pot to p in or a window to throw it out of. Of course, I couldn't let my DH know, he'd be off on a trip to Alaska. I keep telling him, if he wins the lottery it's our money, if I win, it's my money .

Gram, it depends on your overall health and your doctor. Like Marie said, my mom is getting banded April 7th. She had to do a few extra test that I didn't have to do, like the heart stress test. She passed with flying colors, so next Thursday she'll be one of bandster. Good luck on your decision.

I'm extremely happy with my doctor and his staff, especially, since I was his first patient for this surgery. When I called for an unfill, he said, "that's the lovely thing about this surgery, we can adjust it until it's right for you". I like him a lot, so much he's doing my mother's surgery next week and she's 73.

Hope all is well, congratulations on your big day and the first day of the rest of your life, you g(e)o Chic!

Exactly what is erosion? Is it rejection or infection?

Wow Paula, what a night. I keep a bottle of tums in my nightstand and usually while I'm watching tv to fall asleep by, I usually start to get a little pressure, so I pop one of those that kind of disolves in your mouth, then I don't have any problems all night.

I didn't do any of those protein drinks, yuk, I don't like milk. I did make smoothies out of frozen fruits, juice and ice. I made up for it when I went to mushy stage, lots of egg salad. I looked for soups with the highest protein, strained the food bits and drank the liquid. Good Luck.
