I am 2 months out now. I am down around 43lbs since surgery I hit a stall towards the very end of my last month and it has lasted almost this whole second month. I am finally losing again. Slowly, but losing. It was so aggrivating to not see the scale move. I know though I lost lots of inches during that time.

My surgery was May 16th. How is everyone now?? What are your experiences

The Scale Won't Budge. Stall Help Please..
Amoe replied to AngieG0410's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 5 weeks out and have been stalled for almost two. My scale has been up and down two lbs that whole time. But I agree, your body just needs time to catch up. I have noticed a considerable difference in inches during this stall. Just relax and let your body do its thing. If you allow your body a chance to catch up with the weight lose you will have less saggy skin And with that said I need to follow my own advice because this stall is driving me crazy lol!!! -
Top 45 Things I've Learned- 5 Months Post Op
Amoe replied to LacieMC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome. I am 5 weeks out and can relate to some of them already. I am currently in my stale so I have just stayed away from the scale this week. I am still trying to learn how to eat, and get all my protein in. Another thing I will add is, at 5 weeks I finally feel comfortable to sleep on my side ( my prefrence) without thinking I will damage my healing tummy. -

Ok so I am just over a month out from my surgery so I thought would share what I am feeling, doing, ect.... Of course in hopes that either someone may find encouragement that someonelse is going through the same thing or that I will find reassurance because someone tells me they are going through the same thing. So... I had the sleeve on May 16th. I am currently approx 40lbs down since surgery, though I have sworn off the scale for a few days because I have hit a platue and I would rather swear at that darn thing and throw it out the window than to see the same number staring me in the face that had the day before. I can not complain though because i suppose that 40 in a good number for now. I am a perfectionist though and am my own worst critic so I can't help but to beat myself up that the scale is stuck in number limbo... how low can you go, obviously not to low right now lol. On top of the lose since surgery I will add that it puts me at a total of 136lbs down since I started my journey a year ago. I still have such a long way to go, but with a start weight of 570 I feel very accomplished already. As for food. I am on a regular diet and can eat anything as tolerated, within reason of course not about to bring my spoon to an all you can eat chocolate bar just beacuse I can..... Do they have those, what a grand place that would be. I am finding "as tolerated" means 4 to 5 bites of whatever it is I am eating because anything past that is a no go. I mostly eat chicken and eggs.. meat really. If it doesn't have Protein I don't bother. How do the rest of you get your protein in eating anything other than meat??? I am serious I am barely making it, lets face it most days I am not, but if I were to waste my time with something other than protein forget it. I can't stomach Protein shakes anymore... puke... Not literally, but yuck!! Now here is my issue. No matter what I eat, after the first bite I instantly get a belly ache. At first it would turn me off and I would stop eating at that point and throw my hands in the air surrendering to my tummy. Now though, I know it is going to do it so I just continue to eat the correct portion. I figure I wouldn't allow myself to die of obesity so to turn around and die of malnutrition would be a little sensless. My stomach ache lasts about a half hour then once I feel the rumbling of digestion, it goes away, and I know it is now ok to drink. I talked to the nurse coordinator on my bariatric team and she said she has heard this from a few other patients and it lasted about 6 weeks and they were all the sudden fine one day and never had an issue with it again. Holy crap is it 6 weeks yet because it makes me so aggrivated. I am finally able to get my fluids in. I tought that would never happen but all the sudden this weekend I have started accomplishing that goal.. yay me!! The secret was tea... decaffinated of course, but tea, it is all I drink. It goes down better than Water and actually settles my stomach. That is another frustration.... I use to love water, I would get the biggest coldest glass of ice water and down it, there was nothing more refreshing, now, water gives me an upset stomach. Seriously, water!! So tea it is. My urine is still concentrated but I figure it will take a few days of gettting full fluids in to get that regulated. I hope anyway. Excercise... ahhhhhh I said it the ugly word. I have not been the best at this as of yet. I am FINALLY released back to the pool, which is wonderful because I had developed quite a routine at the pool before surgery. So I am hoping to get back on the ball. Mostly with this though I have to get out of my head. I am so used to living in a 570lb body that doesn't allow to walk far or stand long before my back feels like it is going to explode under pressure. Well i am not in that body anymore and it will allow me to do more and go further so now I just have to forget that old body and learn this new one that is coming into play. The only physical alligments I have right now is my back is a little sore, but i have heard from several on this board they experience the same thing and it is just the body adjusting. hat and I have not done much this last month and my body is telling my to get my lazy butt up and get moving. Well I really guess that is my journey so far, thoughts???? Am I normal, please say I am normal..... oh heck who am I fooling, I have never been normal

Hey everyone on the loser's bench. my name is Amy. I started my Journey in Feb when I got a call from a local Bariatric doctor wanting to see me after recieving a heart wrenching letter from my sister. So my sister and I went in and he was on board to help even though I was uninsured. He said I was too big to safely perform the procedure here so I needed to lose 75-100 lbs and once I did that we could move forward. He told me to call him and keep him posted to my progress that way he wouldn't have to charge me for an office visit. He hoped to meet with me again in 6 months to maybe have a better idea of when we might be able to schedule a surgery. In the meantime he set me up with the Bariatric coordinator and nutritionist at the hospital to meet with regularly. Well this past year I jumped on the HCG band wagin and had already lost 40lbs gaining 20 back once I stopped. But I learned alot while on the diet and now that I have something so big to look forward to ( a new life) I figured maybe this would give me what I needed to kick it into high gear and lose the weight as soon as possible no matter how drastic it may look to others. Also I am nothig but agrgumentative, andI set my goal forApril and no one was going to tell me different. So with a cal count of 500 cals or less a day and 2hrs 5 days a week in the pool I went from 550 the first of feb to 480 mid apr. When I made the appointment with the dr and he saw my progress he was astonished and shock my hand that day saying he was on board and we were doing this. My surgery was scheduled for the first wednesday in May. I went in for preop the went prior to that and the day before the surgery I get the call saying my ekg came back bad and I would need to cardio. So the next day I was there and was given a all clear by him right away after he gave me an echo, and blood work that came back fine. So my new date was set for May 16th two weeks ago today. Sofar so good. I had no complications in surgeryand have had no set backs since I got home. I am trying to just learn my new tummy. I have just started the soft food stage which from my dr includes (eggs, tuna, deli meats, refried beans) I am excited for this because I was having an awful time wanting the protein shakes so now I feel I have better variety. Everything I have tried so far has gone well. I did have an egg white and cheese omelet (part of one anyway) last night that made my tummy get after me a little bit, but I think it was more the speed I was eating no what I was eating. So again just learning my tummy and how to really eat right will be the key I think. Refried beans and mashed taters do real well I have not been getting out and walking as much as I should (let the verbal assult commence) I know I need to, again this is something I need to just get use to. My start weight was 570 a year ago and well at 570 there is not much activity so I have become use to a seditary lifestyle and it is hard to come to terms that already that is not me. Since as of this morning I weigh in at 450 a full 120lbs since last year. Only 24 of that is post wls. So another thing I need to learn is how to get out and live. I am so use to keeping super busy with as little physical activity as possible because it hurts! Well now it doesn't so I need to just get going! Right now my only concerns are leaks I am so afraid I will do something that will cause me to hurt my new tummy and cause a leak, more time in the hosp, and more $$$ added to my bill. I am also afraid of eating too much or too little, but that where learning my tummy comes in. The first week and half I was scared to drink too much at a time because people kept saying sip sip sip so I did and I NEVER got all my fluids in. So what is a sip what is a gulp??? I discovered that I can drink normally I just can not drink like I am quenching a thirst (cup tilted back sucking down the fluid) that ladies and gentlemen is gulping (atleast in my case). As far as healing goes, I feel good. I have no real pain except muscle soreness, sometimes a sharp pain when I do stupid things like trying to stand unsupported using my tummy muscles or rolling over in bed, but I believe that is muscle too, I hope My incesions have healed except the spot my drain came out, but Dr just took that out last Thursday. It looks good, but not healed yet. I am super excited about this journey and excited to have a chance in my life to know what normal feels like because never in my whole life (since I was 2 anyway) have I been a "normal" size. But as my fav Author Dr Suess say " Why fit in when you were born to stand out" I don't think I will have any problem standing out no matter what size I am !!!!!

I am two weeks out and am still sleeping in a recliner because I habitually sleep on my left side and the couple times I tried to sleep in the bed I could not get comfortable because I wanted to roll on my side. Last night I tried and it was uncomfortable due to the surgery. So I rolled to my right and as I rolled my belly rolled with me and plopped on the other side I was painful like pulling a muscle . I am so ready to sleep in my bed again.
