  1. Hi everybody! I was banded yesterday too!! a bit painful...and I am pooped...but so ready to get going. We are going "camping" tomorrow...I will lounge in our lovely trailer and sit in the sun....and sip...sip...and sip somemore. Insurance never paid so we are self-pay. I appreciate everyones posts...very encouraging. Have a great weekend. Ruth
  2. Good Morning Friends...saw the Doc and nutritionist and have a surgery date of 06/21!!! Start 2 weeks of Medifast tomorrow....here we go...and I am ready!! Bless you 2bthinagn!!! I had trouble waiting a month around our vacation...I can't imagine your frustration.
  3. Good Morning LKRISTYL!! You have an inspirational wt loss!!! YOU GO GIRL!!! I also use a CPAP...are you facing a sleep study each time you need an adjustment...or will your Doc be able to work with you as you go down? My clinic(in Longview,WA) is open each wed for adjustments ect... perhaps you can make a deal with your sleep Doc to make adjustments as you go down and re-evaluate at a certain point. It is very uncomfortable to be at the wrong setting. I have a long way to go too with my wt loss and want to put off the expensive sleep studies...even with insurance it is spendy. So glad to meet you!! You are a neighbor!
  4. Hazelbunny!!! I so get it. Everyone is entitled to "their own STORY" Thank you for the lovely word picture. I have 230 lbs to lose...just found out that insurance won't cover my band...so after sitting in a puddle for a few weeks I am ready to get going. I am wasting days of me life. We are going to self pay...been to the seminar and see the surgeon next week. They say I can prob have surg within 2 wks from seeing the surgeon. WOW...here we go.... Has anyone else "mourned" losing their terrible coping mechanism that got them in such trouble and could eventually kill me if I don't do something about it? I feel like such a "moron".....being sad to not be able to overeat in the future...it is a coping mech that got me thru a lot...and I need to replace it with healthy ones. Thought I would take a risk and ask..... See Dr Neal and Nutritionist 6/4/07
  5. Who-ha for you!!! Awesome to get off the meds! So glad you are doing well!
  6. Dan...I appreciate your websites...it is so encouraging...and you look great. I am starting to get the concept that the band is a tool...I still have to make the right choices...and as you wrote...pay for making wrong choices. Hummm I will finish my application for surgery
  7. I have been wondering too what it would be like to live with the band after my weightloss is complete...the literature says you will gain weight when the band is removed...and that the band is considered permanent. I am trying to decide which surgery is best. I certainly appreciate that there are less complications with lap band. What are your thoughts about "after loss life with the band?" Thanks for your help Ruth
  8. Hello to the sweet people on this thread...I just sent for my application packet to apply for lap banding. I am nervous...just want to bawl ...I have hope. Overweight all my life...learned to eat as a comfort response to physical and emotional abuse as a child. Now I am 46 years old...married 25 yrs in June...adore my husband and want to be around a long time. This is the one thing in my life I have failed with...but I have been reading your words...so many I have felt and dealt with (butt tongs??? I get it!!)myself. My insurance company doesn't cover the surgery...and my Dr is starting the petition process. I truly feel that it is right...and am grateful to have found this sisterhood. (I am reposting this because my email came up as my user name before...but my DH got me fixed up!) Ruth Gwip=God's work in progress
