    Finally Got My Surgery Date.....

    Congrats on the date!!!!!
  2. So my surgeon's office just told me I have to give them a personal diet history. They were not really explaining what they need. Does anyone have any ideas on what they might need? or what they might be looking for??? This is like one of the last couple of things I need for my surgery.

    Personal Diet History

I have to call them back an find out exactly what they want. They really didn't give to much detail over the phone. I know they are waiting for my letters from my dr about my weight and the 6 months worth of check ins. I just don't know if they want a list of all the diets I have ever done or just recently what I have done to try and lose weight.

    Moving Right Along

So far I have had almost all of my clearances. Just need to do my Endoscopy which is scheduled for MOnday, then the psych eval, and my final Medical and Cardiac Clearances. Moving closer to an actual surgery date!!! Getting so excited for this! But at the same time I am very nervous, scared, anxious, and worried. What is my life going to be like after I have this surgery done? I understand alot of the food restrictions for the first few months after surgery but is that going to be for the rest of my life?

Any Sleevers Close To Long Island, Ny?

Hello everyone!!! Long Islander here having surgery with Dr. Gohil at Syosset Hospital. Working on my last few clearnaces. I also had to go through the six month weigh-ins with my doctor. All I have left is my final Cardiac clearance which will be done 10 days before surgery, my upper endoscopy (which I have scheduled for Monday June 25), and the psychologist clearance. Anyone else here have surgery with Dr. Gohil???

    Slowly But Surely

Slowly but surely I am getting closer to a surgery date. Went to see the dietician for my pre-op diet and for some tips on my post-op diet. I am really getting closer to getting an actual date!!!! I can not wait! I met someone yesterday that had the same surgery I am having with the same surgeon and has lost 85lbs in three months!!! It was so amazing to see how much success she has had in such a short period of time. Really hoping I have half of the success she had!!!!
  7. We are pretty much on the same track!! I only have a few more Dr Visits before I get complete clearance for surgery. Then its back to the surgeon for a date I am really excited!!! Maybe we can stay in touch seeing how we are pretty much on the same page when it comes to getting a date

    Quitting Smoking

Futuresleeved.....I am also in the beginning stages of getting the clearances but I am already working on quitting smoking. I am going cold turkey. It's the easiest thing for me to just go cold turkey. I have tried quitting so many times in the past without success, but this time I have something to look forward to and it really is helping me and keeping me motivated to stay "clean". Karenb4729....I will definitely check out that site. Thanks for the tip. I have started a little jar in my house that everytime I think about buying a pack of ciggarettes I put the $10 in there instead of buying the ciggarettes and am going to put that money towards my new clothes

    Quitting Smoking

This is the hardest part of the preparation for this surgery. I have been smoke free for just about 5 days now, and its not getting easier, it just seems to be getting harder. I know this is something I have to do in order to have the surgery. My surgeon wants his patients smoke free for three months before surgery, and I do not have an official date yet so I think that is the reason I am really not motivated to quit 100%. It is definitely something that is very hard for me to do but I am working on it and so far I have been ok.

One Doctor Down Only About 7 More To Go :)

Well today I went for my pulmonary clearance. That went really well! I am starting to get more and more excited with each appointment I make. I know I still have a long road before surgery, but you know what once I see more and more checks on my checklist it will be surgery time. I am really getting excited about this. I just really wish some people that are near and dear to me would be as excited for me. But I guess time will tell what their reaction will be once all said and done, and I am SKINNY!!!!!!!

    Starting Out

Well just starting out for the surgery. Had my initial consultation about 6-7 months ago, really sat down and thought about everything, and finally have decided this is the right thing to do for me. I have always been a heavy girl (or as my husband calls me "fluffy") It is time for me to get healthy and start being able to actually enjoy life, and make sure I am here for my kids to see them grow, and get married and start having their own families. I have so much life left to live, I am only 28 years old and if I keep going the way I am I will die very prematurely. I have so much that I want to do with my life and being the weight I am at now is really limiting me in what I can do. I look forward to being able to blog my journey on here all through the surgery, and beyond.

    Starting Out

I have spoken to many people about this surgery, and other types of surgeries that are available. I have tried so many different diets and excercise plans over the years and what I have been getting alot of from people around me is "oh your so young, you can do it without the crazy surgery". I explain that I have done the dieting and the excercising, and it just does not work for me. I was always a little on the bigger side, never a skinny petite person. But I really started to pack on the pounds after I had kids. Now that my kids are older, and I am not having anymore kids I felt it was time for me to start focusing on my health, and how I am going to make sure I am going to be around for my kids.

    Just Starting

Well I am just pretty much starting this journey to the surgery. I am starting to get my clearances done one by one, I have just recently quit smoking. I was thrilled to when I found this site dedicated to people that have had or going to have the sleeve surgery. I go for my pulmonary clearance this Friday morning, and then I have my gastroenterology clearance June 11. I am still making all of my appointments for my other clearances. I am really excited to be doing this. This is going to be a whole new life for me. I really can not wait until the surgery date actually gets here!!!

I have found so much information on this site. I am still learning my way through the whole site, but it seems like there is so much information available on this site, more then any other I have found.
