My name is Erin, I live in NY with my three kids, and my husband. I am 28 years old and I am currently just starting the process of the gastric sleeve surgery. I recently had the unfortunate trip to the local emergency room with crushing chest pains, I really thought I was having a heart attack or some kind of cardiac event. They did a whole battery of tests on me in the ER and found that I was fine and able to go home with close follow up with a cardiologist. I scheduled my appointment and the cardiologist scheduled me for a stress test and an echo-cardiogram. During the stress test I became very short of breath, and started to develop chest pains again. I actually had to stop the stress test after only 5 minutes on the treadmill. I scheduled my followup appointment and this cardiologist asked me if I have ever considered gastric surgery to help me loose weight. Loosing weight would really help me regain control of my life, and get healthy again. I set up the appointment with the surgery and its been a roller coaster of events since then, but once my surgery date gets here it will all be worth it. I am making all of my appointments with the clearances I have to get in order to have this surgery done. So far I have my pulmonary, gastroenterology, and cardiology clearance. Just a few more things and I will be all set to get my surgery scheduled. The hardest thing for me right now is making sure I quit smoking three months before my surgery. This is has proven to be the most difficult thing for me, but it is a work in progress.
