    Free Weights vs. Weigh Machines

I am a personal trainer, yes even we have weight issues . In my opinion, it depends on the machines. I prefer plate weighted machines as you have more control. The hydraulic type tend to get away from you and do some of the work for you. I also enjoy my free weights, I believe a combination as you are doing is the best of both worlds.

    Pre-Surgery Ramblings

I am 59, and was sleeved on April 9th, 2013. I had many of those same fears, but you learn quickly to eat slowly and chew well so don't sweat that part. The hunger is gone for me, I can only eat about 2-4 ounces at a meal, depending on what it is, and when you are full, you body tells you so my advice is listen to it! As far as eating out, I have done that, you just kind of find what works for you on the menu. I have eaten alot of soup! I order a glass of water or depending on the restaurant, I order an iced tea in a to go cup. That way I don't have to explain myself and can drink the drink later if needed. You can do it, take it one day at a time

I wish I was a bird so I could fly away from here...

I could have written this myself. I was still having second thoughts right up until they knocked me out in the operating room! I am 3 weeks post op and have not regretted my decision for an instant. You will do great, it is a life style change and one that we needed help with. As far as God goes, I believe he gave surgeons the talent to do these procedures and does not have an issue with us doing this to be healthy. If you could see yourself through your husbands eyes, you would know the many, many reasons he loves you. And looking at your picture, you are beautiful! So chin up kiddo and welcome to the losers bench

Impatience, Poundage and Chocolate Covered Dreams

The night before my surgery, after the cut off time for eating/drinking, I got this big craving for french fries, I swear I could smell them! The next morning I woke up and while getting ready to head to the hospital, I got this over whelming craving for a cinnamon roll! I hadn't even thought about trying to eat those things in months. I told myself if I still wanted them in 6 months, I could have a bit. The thought of a cinnamon roll now makes me want to hurl! Good luck with your surgery

is there coffee in my future?

I am 3 weeks post op and could have coffee while I was in the hospital, however. I have discovered much to my dismay, that I no longer like coffee It was my friend, my confidant and my drug of choice, but no more. I grieved a little, tried different lattes, chai teas and have now discovered a cup of English Breakfast tea is enough. Guess the English side of me is stronger than the stomach.
  6. I am 3 weeks and 3 days post op and I am loving not being hot all the time! I always envied people who could wear sweaters I would wear a light jacket and have to discard it most days. I just ordered sweaters in a much smaller size, yahoo!!
