soggycereal replied to syrup79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do this! try eating something like sugar free popsicles or another good protein drink with a lite fruit in it when you want to cheat. It is sooo worth it. 5 months out- 80 lbs. -

Fibromyalgia And Surgery
soggycereal replied to Pre-OpLoser619's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have Ankolysing spondylitis and fibromyalgia. I am 7 weeks post- op and 40 lbs down. I am in a flare right now and Its severity is much less than in the past. I have not taken any related meds since surgery. Some days have been tough, but not near as tough as before with more weight and inactivity. I have had organ involvement before too. The two biggest thing I can tell you us this. Start washing your stomach and under your breasts with Hibiclens one week before surfery to help prevent infection. Then use 2-3 times a week after - so you dont get an infection. Because our immune systems are broken, I also had a terrible severe allergic reaction to the surgical glue tgey used to clise. It went into my entire body and I ran higher fevers, had to chug the Benedryl and it made me feel really sick. I strongly suggest eitger making them do a patch test on you a couple of weeks before or not using it at -

Help Me Find A Protein Supplement That I Like!
soggycereal replied to TMyers1471's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
The best one I have found is Matrix chocolate mint cookies and cream- hard to find tgough, so I special order on Amazon. The mint disguises the protein badness and it freezes into yummy fudge icles. -

I Am Terrified Of Losing My Hair!
soggycereal replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually have some Biotin sublingual in liquid form. Do you think I can take?? I have a custom partial hairpiece I had made 2 years ago because my hair thinned alot from some medication I had to take. It was not cheap- but looks awesome- totally blends in. If the hairloss bothers anyone, this is an option. Just research for a good place. I go to a place in Fort Worth. 1 1/2 hours away but well worth it. -
just keep your eye on the ball. Remember- you will feelmuch better when you get home.

Want To See How Much Loose Skin You Have? Get In The Pool!
soggycereal replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might consider India. Supposed to be better hospitals and doctors than us, and u will go to a deluxe recuperation facility by the beach for a fraction of our prices. For me, plastics will not be optional,. I live in Texas, where it fets over 100 in the summer. If I dont have it done, Im looking at lifelong skin infections and breakdown. -
Me too- thyroid cancer. I just know that after every 20-30 lbs loss- we need to get our levels checked so we arent taking too much and have heart issues. So- be in contact with your endocrinologist. I found that it was so much harder to lose weight after thyroidectomy. But so far with sleeve, so good.

Ok, I Am Starting To Freak Out.
soggycereal replied to hm734's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First let me tell you- you will second guess yourself the first week out, but by week two it gets better. I would strongly suggest that you go see a therapist, to get to the root of your eating/ weight. I did , and I knew I was totally ready for surgery because I had worked that out. I truly think those who don't lose alot or do that great, have not tackled this. Having this surgery is not a funeral for the food you can't eat, it is a giant love letter to yourself that you deserve to be healthy. -
Rheumatoid Arthritis Or Other Autoimmune Disease / Problems
soggycereal replied to Odee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have ankylosing spondylitis so I can relate. I went off Remicade about 9 weeks ago - it about did me in. The only drug that worked for me was Enbrel, but only for about 10 months, then less and less. I have not really found a drug, other than steroids and pain meds, that make me feel better. But, when I flare, I am desperate to try anything. I am hoping this surgery can keep me from a life of disability. I also tend to medicate with food when I am in pain.
