Red597 replied to Ready4success's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So we're all coming up on almost 3 weeks out...how is everyone doing? I am SO EXCITED that I get to start puree/mushy foods tomorrow!! Having a bit of numbness on my tongue..wonder if it's from all of the sugar-free food/drinks, but other than that, so far so good. -
4 Week Post Operative Bliss. Learning To Love My Sleeve:)
Red597 replied to KinnymomX3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes...this definitely helps me! I am just shy of 3 weeks out, and so tired of pudding and yogurt and soup and protein drinks, I can't see straight!! I know that there is light at the end of the full-liquid tunnel, but it really helps to hear it again. Thanks!! -
I was just sleeved on 8/28 and have been noticing that my tongue is slightly numb.I wonder if it's from all of the sugar free food/drinks. Anyone else experiencing this?

2 Days Til Surgery Freakout!
Red597 replied to Red597's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been on full liquids since the day after surgery, and am also dealing with head hunger. I feel like I could take someone out for a patty melt!!! I also don't really feel full - just stop after the required amount because I don't want to get to that "overfull" feeling. I go for my post-op dr's appointment on Thursday. -
OK ya'll...my surgery is on Tuesday and I am having a MAJOR freakout!!!! Please tell me FOR REAL the Good, the Bad and the UGLY!!! I'm soooo tired of protein shakes and I'm scared of food intolerances and my tasted buds changing and what if I can never eat salad again and oh I don't know...EVERYTHING!! For those of you who truly do not regret getting the surgery, aside from the weight loss, please tell me why you are glad that you did it. I know you all have answered this question countless times before but I'm on the edge ya'll...HELP!!!!!

2 Days Til Surgery Freakout!
Red597 replied to Red597's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Susan...thanks for checking!! It went really well. He had to repair a small hernia, so I'm still a little sore. And the gas pain was REALLY bad on Wednesday, but walking and simethicone helped. It finally went totally away today. But I drove for the first time today and that helped with the cabin fever a lot. But over all, feeling pretty good. All pre-op freak-out fears have abated lol. -

2 Days Til Surgery Freakout!
Red597 replied to Red597's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for helping to talk me off the ledge! I do feel so much better!! I think it was one of those things where I needed to get the fear out of my head and then I felt better. I do know unquestionably that this is the right decision for me, but I think it's the fear of the unknown that got to me. -
Me too me too!! My surgery is scheduled for the 28th. A little...OK..a LOT nervous, but finally more excited than nervous. Very thankful that the pre-op diet hs not been too difficult, but I do get to eat one low-carb meal a day so that helps a lot

Surgery In Three Days... Anyone Else Get Cold Feet ?
Red597 replied to Jadesatin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, and I am also in minor freakout mode. I knwo in my heart of hearts, that this is absolutely the right decision for me, but I really think it's just fear of the unknown. I've had surgery before, so it's really not that part so much, it's just that post-op life, expecially the first 3 months. And also, I must confess, the loss of a certain lifestyle. even though this is going to lead to a MUCH healthier lifestyle, adn hopefully happier, I am having pangs of "Oh, I'll never be able to eat....again", even though I know I will. I'm sure we will both be absolutely fine. Feel free to message me if you you want to talk further. Good luck on Monday! -
Me too! Absolutely LOVE Jemima J!!

Calling All August 28Th Sleevers
Red597 replied to Ready4success's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a horrible headache today too. I was drinking the Bariatric Advantage shakes until I realized that the taste and smell of all of the added Vitamins were giving me an instant headache. So I got some Total Lean RTD shakes from GNC and some Body Fortress whey from Wal-Mart and it was all good. I've done liquid diets in the past, so between 4 shakes and the Water, I'm not hungry. Plus I get one low-carb meal a day and can snack on cucumbers and sugar-free popsicles, so...so far so god for day 2. -
Calling All August 28Th Sleevers
Red597 replied to Ready4success's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started mine today. I'm good so far with just drinking the shakes - i get 4 a day and a low-carb meal. Haven't really been hungry between the shakes and all the water. But I'm going too have to switch my brand of protein powder because I'm not gonna last for 2 weeks with Bariatric Advantage! The artifical taste and gumminess is making me want to puke! -
Charlotte Nc Post-Op Girl Looking 4 Buddies!

I am still pre-op (Aug. 28th surgery date) but I could use a buddy as well. Getting my surgery in Albemarle at the hospital where I work, but I live in Matthews. -
Last Lane Bryant Purchase!
Red597 replied to Sannah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is SO one of my goals...to not have to shop in a store named after a woman (Lane Bryant, Ashley Stewart, Catherine's)! And to not have a "W" following the number in my clothes! @saraHR0...NY & Co is the #1 store I can't wait to shop in... -
I start mine tomorrow! Surgery date on 8/28...nervouse, but excited...Good luck tomorrow!
-
loveizme...you are in great hands! I love Dr. V! I have worked with him professionally and almost went to work for him ( I'm actually an RD), but the job went to one of my closest friends and I was happy for her. If my insurance paid for it, I would have gone to him, but I love my surgeon and get to work with him as well and am just thankful that I have a surgeon that I trust. Good luck to you!

OK...so one of the things I am most looking look forward to post-op (surgery is Aug. 28th) is wearing boots. After more than 30 years of being overweight and more than 20 trucking up 3 flights of stairs in my parents house, my calves don't fit into "regular" knee-high boots. I just want to fit and buy and wear a pair of boots that actually zip up all the way and maybe even, dare I say it...can tuck a pair of jeans into! Have any of you post-op ladies acheived my dream yet? Just looking for a little Wednesday optimism... V

I'm also looking forward to comfortably walking in stilettos

Words Of Encouragement From A 1 Yr Out Aug Sleever
Red597 replied to mamamckinzie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you so much for posting this! I am offically 22 days from my surgery date, and all if a sudden have become extremely nervous! I know that this is absolutely the right decision for me as I too, have struggled with my weight for more than 30 years (just turned 45) and have tried every diet more than once. I have gained approx. 20 lbs over the last 6 months, and deceided that this is it - I can't do this anymore! I think my nervousness is just fear of the unknown, but at the end of the day, I am ready. So thanks again! -
Jewel- nice choice of hospitals ! My nephew is a rising senior at Chapel HIll and my cousin is an ER doc at UNC-Chapel Hill hospital.
-
I agree! To all of it! And I feel you NCSleever63 regarding the reseach lol! I think I'm at the point where it's just going to be my personal experience from here on out, since everyone's experience with recovery, how their sleeve behaves post-op, etc, is personal. I do admit that I get a little nervous at least once a day, but for the most part I'm ready.
