  1. I have one more injection to go, had a total of 10 to do at home. Definitely do them in your stomach, the medicine stings when it goes in, so if you pinch your skin up where you are injecting you don't feel it as much. The nurses gave me one in my arm and I requested they do them in my stomach because the arm hurt more to me anyway. Make sure you have the needle in all the way before you push the plunger to avoid really nasty looking huge bruises! I have 2 that are just awful, but they were from the nursing staff, I haven't given myself any visible bruises.

    What To Take For Period

Ugh, just started today, had that feeling when I woke up, but I am so thankful it's this week and not last! The only other type of pain meds that I am allowed to take is liquid Tylenol right now, but I am taking 1/2 a dose of my pain meds from surgery in the AM/PM so right now that it working. Hopefully I won't have too much cramping and if I do the Tylenol will work! Usually soaking in a hot bath helps me more than any thing but I can't do that yet, so heating pad is my friend
  4. I was started on milk on day two post op, had to keep 2 oz down in order to get release from the hospital. I have been on 1 protein shake (2- 4oz shakes) a day since, I use Lactaid though, even before surgery because too much dairy is not my friend.
  5. 3 days out I was still in pain, tired very easily, but I was so thankful to be at home and thankful that I was feeling better than I did day 1 after surgery. My stomach made the craziest noises every time I drank something. I was struggling to get my Protein shake, daily Water intake (actually didn't achieve that goal until yesterday, day 5!) and my Vitamins. I was still pretty emotional, mostly at night getting ready for bed, don't know why but that is just when my emotions hit me the hardest. Now I am at day 6 (wow, where did time go?!?) and feel better everyday, first things in the morning are rough just because everything is kind of stiff and I still have mild pain on my left side, then by the end of the day I get the pain back on my left side when I start winding down. But I have gone from taking my pain meds every 4 hours to taking it once in the morning and before bed, yesterday after a big day out I took half a dose when I got home, but other than that things are starting to fall into a routine I guess. Hang in there!!

    Where Are Your Incisions?

I have 5, one on the right side of my belly button, one in the middle just below where my bra band will go, one over the the left of that one then one directly under that then the biggest one is just to the left of my belly button. They kind of make a rectangle missing the upper right corner "dot". The two directly to the left of my belly button are both relatively large compared to the others.
  8. They did my 2nd leak test around 24hrs after surgery, also about 6 hrs after they were supposed to have. I had to drink so much of that crap while just balancing on this table that I stood on and then the lifted it up and laid it back, when that stuff hit my stomach, it was cramping so bad my chest was even hurting. Not the way I wanted to experience my first time eating or drinking something after surgery. I kept telling them I was going to throw up and they just kept telling me to drink more, I managed to keep it down by the grace of God!
  9. Oh no, sorry to hear! Sending some prayers for healing and comfort out for you.

    Hello

Hey guys, just sleeved on Monday the 21st- 4 days out! yay! I am in the Houston-ish area and thought I would stop in and say hi!
  11. I had diarrhea when I got home on Wednesday as well, alot of it was nerves about the change from being at hospital to transitioning back to being home. I still have loose BMs but its not as severe anymore. I would definitely call your surgeon about the nausea though, if you aren't drinking enough to replace what you are loosing with the diarrhea you are likely to become dehydrated very quickly. I apparently come out of surgery throwing up and had a few issues in the hospital as well so they sent me home with suppositories for nausea, just in case...knocking on wood...haven't needed to use one as of yet!
  12. I was told no straws, but when they did the scan to check for leaks they made me drink that nasty crap with a straw, so....I am thinking about trying a straw. I also think it's weird that I started with 1 protein shake today and my stomach is liking that much better than water, with water it makes all the noises and I get a little "pain" with it, but the shakes, nothing, not a gurgle or a pain nothing.
  13. The anesthesia alone can cause your hair to fall out. This morning I felt up to actually washing my hair instead of just standing in the hot shower to let the warm water run on my sore back. I was kind of shocked at the amount of hair that came out, but I also realized that it wasn't "falling out" it was breaking off, so I am guessing the hair that was already damaged from coloring/bleaching before just had enough.

    Question About Co-Workers

I told my 2 close friends at work what I was having done and my HR department knows, but other than that no one else knows what I had especially my direct supervisor because she does not know the meaning of the word confidential and I just don't feel that she needed to know. I know that my friend told a few people about the hernia part of the surgery to get them to leave her alone. But since I have been out this week the rumors started flying and my poor friend has been hearing them all because everyone is coming to her asking her. Apparently I had surgery to get pregnant with twins...lol. My friend sent out an email telling everyone off yesterday then called to tell me she did it and asked if I was mad. Please, I have more to worry about right now than you putting people in their place on my behalf In retaliation for me not telling my boss what I was having done she went to the two bosses over her and instead of telling them that I was having to leave and make up time due to doctor's appointments and a few procedures I had to have done prior to the surgery, she told them that I have attendance issues. The had no clue that I was even having surgery until another supervisor was trying to get me moved into her department and the refused, because of my "attendance issues" and she told them what was going on.

    Sleeping ....

I am starting day 3 post op, this has been tricky for me too, I am a tosser and turner at night, start on my sides end up on my stomach. We got one of those "pillow chairs" for the bed at Walmart and then we just have a mountain of other pillows around and behind so it all kind of cradles me in a sitting up-ish position. Worked well last night (first night home) my body definitely isn't as sore this morning as I had been in the hospital. Also I was scared to let my husband sleep in the bed with me, but it actually helped to keep me warm, I seem to not be able to control my body temp well, I am hot then I am cold..
  17. New to the site. Here's my story, so far.... 31, married, live in Texas and about to undergo my first surgery EVER on Monday. WLS is something that I have needed for years and have wanted for the last 10, but it hasn't been financially obtainable until now. Last year our company was bought out and with the new company came new insurance, which will cover the surgery! I started researching the policy requirments back in November and it took effect in January, I called for an appointment with my surgeon on the first day back to work after New Years. My first appointment was on Feb 15th after many many ups and downs and bumps along the way, Monday I am going under the knife to start my new life. Also having a henial hernia repaired, since they are going to be in there already

    A Bundle Of Nerves

I am alive! I think Really had no idea what to expect as far as pain, I am definitely hurting, but only at the site of the largest cut, then the rest of my body just feels like I got ran over by a truck...but I made it! Got released today and got home about an hour ago, nice to be out of the hospital.

    Cigna Revised Policy

I did do weight watchers for about 7 months before my first visit, but this was not turned in the Cigna. The only things we submitted was my labs/EKG reports from my pcp a letter of medical neccessity from him, a letter of clearence from a psychiatrist, documentation from a nutritionist. Got denied originally due only to the hospital they submitted (submitted on Friday, denied on Monday), they changed the hospital and I was approved in less than 24hrs. I am thinking maybe it has something to do with my high BMI, but I don't have any major related health conditions (thank God) I was actually anticipating it being rejected with not having documentation of the 6 month diet plus not having comorbidities.

    A Bundle Of Nerves

On my first visit/exam I was told that my liver was 4 cm larger than it should be, when I went for my preop exam (3 weeks of meal replacements) he said that it was back to an acceptable size for surgery.

    A Bundle Of Nerves

Thanks everyone! @Lisa, yes I have been on a pre-op diet since April 24th, replacing 2 meals a day with protein shakes and 1 sensable meal a day, my choice which one. Then Friday I started my all liquids. The 2 replacements were really easy for me, replacing all meals has been really difficult for me, mostly it's a mental thing, but I have been really battling myself these 2 days, I think I spent the majority of the day crying today because I am driving myself nuts. Glad I already did the psych evaluation or else I would definitely get diagnosed as crazy today, all the conversations I am having in my head with myself.
