Anyone 2 to 3 years post op???

Hey Chickie,

Have you ran a marathon yet?

I walked the Columbus, Ohio marathon in October 2006. I finished all 26.2 miles in 7 hours, 16 minutes, and 48 seconds. Yeah, I know, kinda long, but I made it, and that was my goal. And I did it at my highest weight.

I'd like to do another someday after I lose the weight and compare time.

It was a great time. I trained for 5 months with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. It was a lot of work, and it takes some time out of your life to devote to the training, but it felt so good.

Lynette

Anyone 2 to 3 years post op???

I believe the US just approved the Lapband in June 2001. Other countries were approved long before, so it's nice to chat with others outside the US and know that someone has been banded for 10 years. That's awesome!!!! Lynette:omg:

    June 2007 Bandsters

Does anyone have to attend any classes/therapy before surgery? I have 4 weeks (1 night a week) of group therapy to go to, and then the classes continue after surgery for a year or more for support after the surgery. I'm actually glad to have all the support. Congrats to all of us for making it this far. Having the date is one of the most important steps. Lynette:)

    June 2007 Bandsters

I'm a June bandster too. June 27. I have 8 weeks left from today. I don't know if I'll have a pro-op diet or not. I'll let you know. Lynette:)
  5. Hi all, Just wondering how many out there have had the band for 2 to 3 years with no problems. It seems that most problems occur within the first 2 years. If you haven't had any problems like slippage or erosion, what is your secret to success? I know, things happen, but thought I'd ask to see how many were out there on this site. Thanks in advance for your replies. Lynette:nervous

    My first time

Tracy, I work in Cold Spring at Kohl's. I was not at the health fair, but wish I had gone. I actually went to Dr. Sonnanstines seminar on March 1 and had my consultation March 2. I originally thought that I would get banded April 30, but couldn't get in to the dietician and psychologist until April 24. We have inventory at work on June 24 and 25, so I'm waiting until after that to have the surgery. I'm taking 4 weeks off, and the timing just didn't work out to have it until after inventory. So here I sit, waiting. You can email me at dolphinatic617@yahoo.com. I'd like to stay in touch and it's always nice to have support from someone who knows what it's all about. Tell your mom I said good luck. When is her friends surgery with Dr. S? Lynette:o

    Any June 2007 Bansters

Hello ladies, Welcome!!!!!!! It seems like it's going to take forever for the date to get here. Everyday I find myself thinking someone, somewhere, is getting banded today!!!!! One day soon, it will be us.:clap2: Where are you from musicalmomma? Lynette:o

    My first time

I think every doctor has their own set of testing guidelines. I'm self pay, and I've had a one on one with a dietician, psychologist, I've had an upper GI, and I have 4 weeks of mandatory group therapy to prepare for life after lapband. I think it's a good thing. Don't be in a hurry to get through it. Learn all you can in the months leading up to the surgery. That's what I'm doing here on this site. If I need anymore tests, that's fine. Whatever makes the surgery and after go better for me is in my best interest. Lynette
  10. This just occured to me after reading other posts, but how will I know if the actual band that is getting placed into me is actually an Inamed Lap band??????? And what about an experation date???? I read that someone who went to Mexico actually received the box it came in after the surgery. Has anyone that has been banded in the US got a box with theirs? Also, someone else was talking about 2 Lap Bands being auctioned on e-bay. That has me asking questions. Maybe I'm doing too much research, but just trying to cover all my bases. It's a big deal, and I don't want to make light of it. I need to grasp all the information I can in the next 2 months. Thanks, Lynette

Hi Tracy, I live in Latonia, KY. We can't be too far away from each other. Wow, you've done so well in a little bit of time. Who did your surgery? Was it Curry? I research both him and Sonnanstine, but went for the hospital over here in KY. Lynette

    How Will I Know....

Hi beachgirl, I think you were the one that posted that information I was talking about. Thanks for replying. Lynette
  13. drekagirl, I'm so jealous. Yesterday should of been my date too, but I couldn't get in to see the dietician and psychologist until April 24. Anyway, congrats. My doctor said most of his female patients lost betweem 15 and 25 lbs at their 4 week post op appointment. I'm sure it will vary depending on Water loss alone. Good luck with everything. Lynette
  14. Has anyone out there been banded by Dr. Sonnanstine? My banding isn't for 2 months, but I hear he's very good. Lynette:o

St. Luke West, KY- Dr. Sonnanstine

Thanks for the good luck, put I do plan to follow everything as closly as possible. I need this to work, and I'm ready to work hard for it. Do you attend Monday night classes still? Mine start on May 28. If you're there, I'll see you. I'm hoping that meeting other patients of his will reassure me that I am in good hands. You've been the only reply to my post. It was suprising to me because of his background and experience that there aren't more out there. Maybe they don't have access to the internet. Oh well, thanks for everything. You've been a great help, and you've done so well in 9 months. Congrats on the loss.:clap2: Lynette:)

St. Luke West, KY- Dr. Sonnanstine

I understand, I'm just worried I guess of things happening that are out of my control. I'd pay anything to keep it too, and I don't even have it yet!!!! Thanks for the information. Lynette

St. Luke West, KY- Dr. Sonnanstine

Did you happen to get any prices from him on what his self pay fills cost, or should your port flip, how much he'd charge to flip it back, or if slippage occurs and you need to have another surgery? I'm trying to cover everything, and didn't ask these questions to him yet. Thought you may know since you were self pay also. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!! Lynette:)

    My first time

Hello everyone, I'm a June 07 bander also Stacy Z. Mine is scheduled for the 27. It's nice to find someone else who is still about 2 months out. I just found this websight 2 days ago, but I've learned so much already, and have so many more questions to ask my Dr. Where are you being banded? I'm in Kentucky. Lynette

Ellenk, were you a self pay or did you have insurance cover your surgery? I'm a self pay, and I'm not sure what aftercare is covered, like fills, etc. I thought I researched a lot, but have more questions now that I found this web sight. Thanks for any info you can give. Lynette
