OH my. Did I have the worst case of something last night. I ate a McDonalds hamburger for dinner, and about 20 minutes later, I was so Dizzy I thought I was going to pass out, felt very sick to my stomache, and ended up getting sick for 1 ans 1/2 hours. Think it was food poisning? Mad Cow disease? I have never felt like that. I was in bed at 7:00, and only got up to get sick. Everytime I laid on my back I was dizzy. Anytime I tried to move, I was dizzy. Feel better this morning, and was starving from the lack of having anything in my stomache. What a night. I was scared. Thought I was headed to the hospital at one pioint. Purplegirl, hopefully you'll be able to excercise off the pounds and your skin will shrink with it. Since the weight loss is slower with the band, you may not have to have skin removed. You're young so you have the best chance of this. Wrangler, it seems you're on your way. Glad to hear everything went ok. We're taking my 3 year old fishing today. Should be eventful. I'll check in with you all this afternoon. Have a great weekend, and HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all your Spouses, Men in your life, etc.

Chimboree, just about all my riends, family, and co-workers know about the surgery. Everyone thinks it's great and has very supportive, except my mom, but oh well. So I don't think I'll be answering this question a lot, but I would probably tell them. It's only a tool, and we have to do the rest which is real hard work, and I think I would add that in to any response that includes the "I had Lapband surgery". Dini, I too have a little one, well, he's three, and I won't be able to lift him for weeks. This is going to be hard as he loves piggy back rides, and for mommy to pick him up and cuddle. I think he's old enough to understand that mommy won't be able to do these things for a while, but he'll probably forget and try to jump on me. My mother is keeping him the 2nd night after surgery, the first night I'll be home because I have to spend one night at hospital, so I actually won't see him 48 hours or longer. And I think my MIL is going to keep him for me also. So the first couple of days will be covered for me, when I'll really need a lot of sleep and rest. After that I'll just have to wing it. Being he's a little orlder he can pretty much get himself into his car seat, and other than that I really don't have to lift him much.

Dini, good luck in your searches. We also have health drinks called Boost, or Ensure that are also recommended. I was going to say FTD also for the flowers, but Chimboree already told you. They seem to be the most popular I can think of over here. That would be awesome to meet next year on our Bandiversary!! We can use the money we save on food over the next year to pay for the trip!!! Breadlady, hang in there. Get some chicken noodle soup, and the liquids will flush it right out. I wonder if you could take Tylenol Cold meds. since Tylenol is ok with the band? And the sleep is probably the best thing you can get, so don't run yourself all weekend. Hopefully you have everything ready for post op. If not, maybe a family member or friend could help with the shopping. Sunshine, I would think that all the protein they eat on the Atkins would shoot the cholesterol (sp) up too, but for some reaon I don't think it does. I know it's bad on the kidneys because of the ketosis (sp) that happens. Anyway, I'm sticking with my body fortress powder. It has 23 grams per scoop. I was getting worried because if I added it to something that had over 2 grams already I'd be at 25, or over. I think I'll be ok with it. I plan to be excercising, at least walking right away. Wow, so much to think about still. Just when you think you've done all your research, other things come up to think about. That's what I love about this site. I'm always learning from all of you.
-
So DIni, I wonder how much shipping would be if I purchased something for you here and shipped it to you there? I wonder how long it would take? Purplegirl, Welscome to the Lucky 7's. I wish I could of had done this at 16. It would saved me tons of problems. Good for you for doing something now about the weight. You'll be able to live a long, happy life.
-
Dini, when I was looking for protein powder, I googled it, and tons of web sites came up that sells it. I'm just wondering if you have a search engine over there to look up protein powders. Some let you buy smaller samples to try. Just a thought.
-
I have tried the Beneprotein powder at my taste testing class. It is ok. We tried it mixed in unsweetened applesauce, and I did taste an aftertaste, and it probably would of been better with a sweetner in it, but I'm thinking if you put it in pudding, or soup, you probably won't even know it's there. That 25 g of protein thing still has me confused. Take for instance, the Atkins diet. Though I never was able to do this well, because I love my fruit, but I've always heasr people say they could eat as much protein on that diet and still lose weight. I'm sure these people were not excercising, or using all their protein for energy, but they still lost weight. Very interesting.

What Are Your Favorite Excercise Songs?
Lynette617 replied to TexasFire's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know that most of the time, even if you like a song and it's a slower song (ballad) that you can find a remix of it on a download sight. For example, I like Kelly Clarksons 'Because of you' and I found a great remix to walk to and put it on my MP3. It's fast, and upbeat, and gets my pace up. Just a suggestion to look for these when you dowlnload music. -
Sunshine, I hadn't heard of the 25g of protein turning to fat. I know my goal each day 60 g after surgery, but nothing else. I'll have to ask about that.
-
Dini, you don't have to anything else to it, it's great the way it is, unless you want to play!!! Breadlady, you are so in the home stretch of all of this. You're pretty much rounding third at this point. How awesome is that.
-
Dini, It's looking good. Hope you were able to save that so you don't have to type all the names in everytime. Have a great evening all. I'm headed to bed.:notagree

Sunny, I know what you mean about jinxing yourself, but when you're ready, I know the Body Fortress 100% Whey powder at Walmart is pretty good. I bought it in Vanilla and Chocolate. We had a class last week where we taste tested different powders and drinks, and to be honest, the Carnation Instand Breakfast was the best (to me) of all of them. I didn't like the Unjury unflavored powder we tried, so I need to find another brand. It left a bad after taste. I'm not sure if it would in soup or not, but I had it in a flavored crystal light drink. Hang in there, and pretty soon you'll be on your way to the store to shop for everything you need.

Hey Dini, We could be sisters, as I'm a shoe lover too. I'm really into flip flops now that the weather is warmer. I just bought 2 new pairs today. What's even funnier is that my DH is a shoe fanatic. He loves Nike athletic shoes, and he has more pairs than me!!!!!!!! It's hard when you work in a department store. I get such great deals, and with my associate discount, well, I don't shop anywhere else, for clothes and shoes anyway. Now I just can't wait to get into the JUNIORS department.

Dini, YOU DID IT!! Looks awesome!!!!!!! Now we can see everyone together. It makes it exciting. I was able to get my ticker back on here. I opted for the countdowm ticker now, then I'll change to the BMI ticker after surgery. We went to a place called Frischs. It 'burger' is the BIG BOY. They are famous for their vegetable soup and tarter sauce, but I always get the soup, salad, and fruit bar. We went through the drive thru there on Mother's Day, and they were giving out coupons to all the moms to come back and have dinner on them. It was nice. We don't usually go out to eat a lot, I have a very rowdy 3 year old son, who is getting better at it. So check out the countdown ticker. Had to go with the stethescope, for the DR.
-
Dini WORK IT GIRL. You have a beginning of a calendar. Now I get to try my ticker again. We went out for dinner and now I'm back so I'll fool around with it a little tonight before bed to see it I can get it back up. And yes, I'm still talking about my ticker.
-
OK, just realized my ticker is gone. Now I'll have to figure that out again. UGH. That may take a few days. See, I'm not real good at this. Lynette
-
Thanks Chimboree, I can do some things on the computer, but not a whole lot. I've been getting better lately, and was very pleased that I was able to get a ticker on my page, and my name in glitter. Now after surgery, I may be in trouble as I don't know how to move ticker.
-
OK, I received a response to the Calendar question. The woman used word and cut and copied it onto her replies. I don''t have word on my computer, or I do and I can't figure it out, cause I've been trying to get a calendar on here for us. I found one, and I even printed it out, but it is not coping onto my posts. Sorry everyone. I'll leave it up to someone who is more computer illiterate than myself.
-
Dini, I haven't heard of pain meds through supositories. I believe mine is the Q ball pump. The one they leave in you that is a local for the area where the cutting is. Bobberts Mom- I hope you can get eveything settled for surgery. Just make sure you're comfortable with the surgeon. If not, I'd be looking for a new one. Welcome wrangler. BreadLady- WOW, a new June date!!!! How exciting is that. They wanted to move mine up to June 19, but I couldn't do it. But Congrats to you. Get shopping girl. You'll be in smaller clothes before most of us are banded, but PLEASE stay with us, and let us know what it's like. Patty- Doesn't your state have laws that say they must give you breaks every so often? In my state, you are guaranteed a 15 minute break for a 4 hour shift, a 20 minute break for a 6 hour shift, and if you work 8 hours, you get 2 15 minute breaks, and an unpaid 1/2 hour lunch. I'd be saying something to someone about it. They shouldn't be able to do that to you. At least they can let you go relieve yourself and get a drink to keep at your station. Hang in there, maybe they haven't found the right people to hire yet. FOR EVERYONE- There is a thread under Lapband FAQ's and References called "Sticky- Things you'll need post op"". It's a list of items you may want to purchase ahead of time before surgery and have for when you come home. I found most items at Walmart, except the liquid gas x. I ended up with the gas x strips you put on your tongue. Someone in the June thread is using them and said they work well.
-
Hello all you June Bandsters. Looks like everyone is doing well that has been banded so far. Wish I were still a Junie, I'd only have 2 weeks left, but now I have 3. Oh well, at least I have the date. Hottytoddy, can you try to help me out. I'm trying to figure out how you got all the June names onto the calendar. I'd like to do this for the July group, if you don't mind. Good Luck to everyone getting banded this week. You're in my prayers for a quick recovery. Lynette

Sounds great sunshine. You're wiell on your way to a July date!!!!

Good luck Bobberts Mom. Let us know how it goes. Welcome Snagletooth, love the name.

self pay concerns/questions
Lynette617 replied to princess_sophie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm self pay and my Dr. said that anything after the original surgery that would have to be fixed is medically necessary and there's not an insurance company out there that will fight it, so it should be covered. Find out how much the fills are after the first year so you know ahead of time. My Dr. said he codes it under something (forgot what it was) and I'll only have to pay my office visit co-pay. I know it's scary when you think about all the things that could go wrong such as slippage, erosion, flipped port, etc. But I decided that as long as I follow EVERYTHING my Dr. says, then I should be ok. If something happens that's out of my hands, then I couldn't have helped it to begin with. My surgeon was very honest. He told me that he will not nickle and dime me because I am self pay. He thinks all insurances should pay for the surgery anyway, so he's not willing to take anymore than he has to from people who have to pay for it themselves. His surgery fee is only $5,000. It's the hospital charging $9,600 that's killing me, for 1 night. I think this is extremely too high, but what am I to do. I don't feel comfortable flying out of the country to do. If problems occur, I'd be so far away, and I hear it's hard to get a local surgeon for after care afte you've ben to Mexico. So I figure if I'm going to fork over the money, then I'm going to do it right. I'm worth every penny, and it's my body and my health I'm dealing with. Hope this helps some. Sorry to carry on like I did, but it did take me a long time to get over the what if's of complications. You take the good with the bad, and that's what I plan to do. -
Good Morning All, Actually have the day off. My MIL watches my 3 year old for my DH and I so we can work, but she's been in and out of the hospital this weekend. Finally diagnosed with Pnemonia(sp?). So I have the day off today to let her get some rest. Chimboree- There you are. I was woried when I hadn't seen you post in a few days. Thanks for the update on the list. I'm waiting for a reply from the lady on the June thread that did the calendar. Dini- If you go to Lapband FAQ's and References there is a thread there called Sticky- Post Op Checklist. This is where I got my list from. And FYI, I found about everything at Walmart for cheaper than a lot of other places. The only item I never found was liquid gas x. I just went ahead and bought the strips that dissolve on your tounge. Mike- Glad to see you're still around. I thought maybe we lost you to another thread. I'm sure it's not easy to be here with all these women, but we're all in the same boat and going through all the same emotions. Cherybomb- I love your question about rewards. Ok, here goes. Once I lose almost all my weight, I plan to get a tattoo acrossed the bottom of back so when I wear my cute LITTLE low rider jeans and my SMALL shirt, you can see it:heh:. Also, I'd love to get my belly button pierced. Yeah, I know. I'll be 35 on Sunday, but I feel I may revert back to 15 after this surgery. Just some fun things I always imagined myself doing if I had ever lost the weight, at a younger age. But I still think I'm going to do it. During the losing stage, I think just being able to reward myself with new clothes every 3 months will be a reward in itself.:clap2:

Thanks Dini, I went to Boders.com and they have the book in soft back for $13.95 or hard back for $24.95. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow after my WLS class. I also sent a message to the lady in the June thread asking for directions for the calendar so we can put one up for July. We'll add you on for June 26!!!!!:)OMG, it's coming up quickly. So what have you already purchased to get ready so far? Each weekend I buy a few more things, except this weekend I've been real busy. I only have a few things left. Lynette

Welcome Tanzy and Brandy, We're growing again. Where is Chimboree with our updated list??? I need to find out how the Junies got there's on a calendar. I may pop in there later and find out. Dini, thanks for the book information. I wonder how much it is, or if youcan find it in book stores, like Borders? I'll have to check it out. Well, I'm back from the waterpark, and I'm very sun burnt:embarassed:. Yes, I had spf 30 on, and reapplied 45 but then I think I realized my 45 was EXPIRED:angry. I didn't know that sun block expired. I just bought it last year, but it wasn't working one bit. I look pretty much like a lobster. At least my son has his fathers skin tone, he just seems to tan a little, but I'm fair. Going to check on a few things, so have a great evening all. I'm pretty tired from all the walking:bored, but at least I know where to get all my excercise in after surgery. Lynette:)
