So Dini, does that mean I'm your cyber girlfriend!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HUGS!!!
-
bms0502, welcome, and you post came up fine. It's all a learning curve. We were all new at this at one time, now some of us are pros, and you'll get there too. So where are you from???
-
Nite dmtjet, go tend to that luvy duvy hubby of yours!!!
-
Wrangler, at least your food bills will be cut down for you after surgery. And I've realized everything I've bought is lasting a long time for me, like the protein powders, soups, jellos, puddings, etc. I'm not having to be at the grocery every week anymore unless there's something I just want out of the blue.
-
Rain, can you add the protein powder to your shakes or soups? The protein helps to keep you full. Sorry, that's about all I can recommend. I wonder why your Dr. doesn't want you adding things to your shakes. It's not like you're adding a bunch of calories or anything. even when I add my peanut butter, my shakes are around 200 calories. That's my highest meal/snack so far, but then I eat the puddings and jello and they only have 60 calories. So by the ned of a day, I've still only consumed about 700 calories or less.
-
I'll be back in a little bit, Big Brother 8 is on now, yes, I'm A BB8 fan!!
-
dmtjet, if you're only eating 3 meals, how far apart are your meals each day???? No wonder you're hungry. I have not been hungry until about 10 minutes before I get to eat again, so that's nothing to deal with. I'm having hunger pains as I'm making my meal/snack, and I know it's only a short time until I get the meal fixed and can eat. Can I tell you all how much I love my DR!!!!!!!!!!!!(sorry BobbetsMom, I'm not trying to rub anything in after your posts today) No really, he is the only Board Certified Surgeon in my Tri-State area that has had a 1 year fellowship in Boston in which he did nothing but studied Bariatric Surgeries and I truly believe I have the best. This experience has been over all better than I could of ever expected. It's amazing how the Dr. do things diferently, but this is definitely workin for me.
-
dmtjet, when you went out for your chili, did you order a water with it???? I went out the other night and when the waitress came to get our drink order, she asks "What can I get you to drink?", and I reply "nothing, thank you", and she started to write on her pad, and looked back at me and replied 'NOTHING", and I repeated, "nothing" and she says, not even water, and I reply, "NO, but thank you" and told her I'd take a french onion soup. WOW, if it's going to be that hard to not order a drink when I go out, I'd rather waste a glass of water then to go through that again.
-
nurse76, sounds like getting out the house is just what the Dr. ordered for you. Glad you had an easy night at work. mango, I was allowed to stairs the first day after surgery. I think it helps with the gas too. It wasn't bad at all. dieka, glad you're feeling better:), but you actually had 2 surgeries, so you got a double dose of gas. This is probably why you're swelling so much.:cry Sunny, we never keep what we catch when we fish. I don't know anything about fileting and cooking fish, so I only eat fish out, like at Red Lobster. Well, I've made a few items at home like Salmon, but that's about it. Good Luck again to tomorrow bandsters, and any on Tuesday that may be leaving today.:clap2: I just woke up from a 3 hour nap :omg:with my son, now that's what I call lazy. I don't think I would of got out of bed if it wasn't for the fact that I've only had 3 meals/snacks today and have 3 more to get in and it's already 7:30 PM.

Need Name of Non-flavored Protein powder please
Lynette617 replied to Chele's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found the ANY WHEY at my local GNC, but it is not an isolate whey product, and that's all my DR. will allow me to take, he says it's the one that's absorbed by the body the best. Chele, you may want to ask your DR. if you're allowed the concentrated protein powders. -

I use Jay Robbs unflavored protein powdew. You may be able to find it local depending where you are, but also at jayrobbs.com. It has 26g of protein per scoop, and 110 calories. Love it in my soups and cottage cheese. -
jackie and mango, you both have me rolling right now. It's funny because wheneve I stat laughing at the computer, my DH thinks he's missing something good. He wouldn't understand anyway.
-
Kathybad, isn't it funny how we can turn anger at ourselves into motivation to do good. Kinda like reverse psychology!!!
-
Icy,I'm only allowed 4 ozs at my meals, so that's why I only use the 2 ozs of milk. All the other ingredients make it up to b about a 6 oz shake, but I still drink it all. There is no after taste after adding in all my yummys. Just mmm, mmm, good.
-
Icy breeze, what are you using now? I use the Body Fortress from Walmart. I take 2oz skim milk, 1 scoop powder, add ice and blend. But I've been making up my own concoctions that include, peanut butter, bananas and peanutbutter, blueberries, raspberries, bleuberries and raspberies, cinnamon and splenda. The skys the limit, possible ingrediens are endless, just add whatever you like into the protein powder and milk. I look forward to my shakes everyday, and I keep trying new things. The Vanilla is creamy, the chocolate is a bit gritty, so when I use the chocolate, I only use 1/2 scoop and use a 1/2 scoop of vanilla for my full scoop. Hope this helps, but I've never used my unflavored protein powder for my shakes because the vanilla makes it so creamy!!!

unruhlyhd, you'll be fine, but we all get those nerves. Best of luck to you. Are you leaving today sometime?
-
Bobbets Mom, were you self pay? I'd tell him how you feel, and if he tries to give you sh-t about it, then ask for a refund on your 1 year fills, and tell him if he's going to be like that, your money spends elsewhere, and you'll find another Dr. to fill you. You paid for surgery and fills, not for his attitude, and his comments. He should be there for you regardless, and if he can't handle his profession, then maybe it's high time he looks into another one!!!!!!!!

WOW, lots going on in the last 17 hours since I've posted. See what I miss when I go out!!!! Had a great time fishing. Only caught 1 all evening, about a 2-3 pd catfish. My DH had left to go get some training pants for my son (we had forgot his backpack of pullups and a change of clothes), and don't you know I caught it on his pole, when he was gone, and his real broke in my hand and I had to pull the fish in by the line. Good thing it wasn't bigger than it was. Ok, let's see how I do on this one, I've been writting things down for an hour now, First, our newbie, tnavarro5, welcome to the best, most active, supportive group out there. We're excited to have you aboard. Ribearty, my DH is a huge Cardinals fan, but what is worse than that is that we live in Covington, KY- 5 minutes from Cincinnati Reds Park, where we have just been named to have the worst record in baseball history and just fired a manager, again, in the past 2 weeks. So see, it's not that bad for you!!!! Also, my port is in the middle, right under the bra line. Wrangler, I would think your recumbent bike would help the gas some. Try it and see, I don't think it will hurt you, just don't go real fast, not that you would. What happend with the phones??? Welcome back GeGe and Dieka. Gald everything is going good, especially after a second surgery Dieka. I about fell out of my chair reading that, but you sounded cheery so I knew you were ok. dmtjet, My Dr. said I can ride the rides at my amusement park 4 weeks post op, so that to me means I can start lifting weights, aerobics, etc. at 4 weeks, as long as my healing progresses the way it has been. NDprarieLover, did they tell you your port will set off the security at the airport? I've never heard of this. Another question for my Dr. as I'm flying to Florida in October. Love the idea of yours to take your class on a walk to promote healthier lifestyles. ReneeMarie, am I correst that you posted you drink 3 to 4 32 oz cups of water a day? This is 96 to 128 ozs of water a day, correct. I'd make sure this is ok by your Dr. I've known someone to actually have water poisoning from TOO much, kind of like alcohol poisoning. But I believe you are just like me, because I used to do this too, until this happened, and I cut back to 80, 90 at the most per day. Joann, sounds like you're doing great and well on your way. Dini, I'm not drinking 30 minutes before a meal or until 30 minutes after a meal. Thanks for adding me to our cruise list. I'm going to try to research how to post polls later today. gladster, wow, what a prediciment. I'd have to come up withan excuess to miss the dinner. You won't want to be trying to explain yourself 3 days post-op, and on pain killers. You're liable to kill him at the table. You'll have plenty of time to confront him on it, and I'd think before is good, or way after the fact is better!!! Kathybad, sounds like the hernia story is going to work for you. Hope you don't have to do a lot of taste testing. You can spit it all out and say it tastes bad!!!!!!!!! God Bless all the teachers and nurses on board. You have chosen the career choices that require a lot of patience, and I'm sure you all have gained so much from your experiences. I can only imagine. And to all the Biker Babes out there, Rock On for me. Used to be a "YAMA-MAMA myself, as my ex and I had a '95 Yamaha YZF 650 ( sport bike, known as crotch rocket) back in the day, and then he was hit on it, 8 months after we were married. A 76 year old lady was pulling out of a convenient store and didn't see him, or the big yellow school bus driving right next to him. He hit her fender, flew about 40 feet and hit pavement on the left side of his head, no helmet. Ended up in ICU for 6 days, and in all was in the hospital for 2 weeks, and had to undergo Occupational, Speech, and Physical therapy for months. Our main witness to the accident was a retired cop and said if he had his helmet on, the way the sport helmets start higher towards the back of the neck and come down farther towards the front, he would of broke his neck instantly, and died on the scene. It was a long, drawn out battle, and in the end we were awarded $170,000, but after having filed bankruptcy because of unpaid hospital bills, most of the money went to the bankruptcy paying off the debts we filed against. He was never the same man, and 6 years later it was time to move on. So Biking is not at the top of my list of things today, but because you can be as careful as you want to be out there, but it's always other drivers who are not as careful, and these are the ones who scare me. So, drive as safe as you can, and watch out for all the others who don't watch out for you. Wow, I think I'm finally done. I hope there's not another page or two to read now. I'm pooped!!!!!!!!

I'm heading out, so I'll see ya all later!!!

dmtjet, what am I packing??? Do you know what Go-Gurt is?? It's yogurt packaged like a popsicle in a long plastic sleeve. I keep these in the freezer because I love them frozen, so I'm packing 2 of these which is 2.25 oz each, so I go a little over on ozs, but it's only 160 calories for both, and 4 g of protein. I'm also taking cottage cheese (Breakstones makes a 4 pack in individual cups that are 4 ozs each) and this has 90 calories with 11 g of protein. Also, I have a Yoplait Light Smoothie drink which is 90 calories, and 6 g of protein. It's 8 ozs, so I only plan to have 1/2 the bottle. I've already had 2 meals and 1 snack today, so these are my other 3 meals/snacks for the evening. Oh, and of course, my water bottles!!!

mango, love your attitude girl. MsPris, I had the diareah (sp)going on before surgery all weeknd long. I actually lost 4 lbs that weekend and was not on a pre op diet either. So it's probably just nerves. dmtjet, excited to be going fishing this weekend. Remember last weekend they went and I stayed home. That's when you, Dini and I were up chatting, and I strained my port laughing. This weekend, I'll be out there with them. So excited, just getting out and getting away from the house is a new experience after banding. I have to pack my own drinks, meals, etc, but it's freeing me, getting out in all. It lets me know I can do this, and get out. It's vey different being away from home post op the first couple of times, but it gets easier, you just have to plan ahead a little. Laurend, thanks for the sheet, only when I printed it, it came up all weird. I've been having this problem. I didn't get chimborees power point file to download either. I don't think I have that on my computer and that was why. But don't know why your came out with little squares in all the lines, no letters. Oh well. My boys are napping now, so I guess when they get up it will be time to go. I'll be on until then. This site is sooooooo addictive. Almost better than, dare I say because poeple are on pre op around here, but better than chocolate!!!!
-
Peaches, call the Dr if it gets too bad. I'd think you could take something. Your taking pain meds whick probably isn't clear liquid. Hope you get some other replies. So I just got the word we're going fishing tonight from 5pm to about 12am. We love to fish. I think it's relaxing, at least without my 3 year old, but with him there, it's always exciting. Can't wait, and I have to go to the store and do a little shopping now, so I'll check in later, or tomorrow after we get up. Have a great day everyone.

nurse76, hang in there. I'm going to PM you so look for a message from me ok.

Yeah Rebecca's back!!!!!!!!! Sounds like the whole family did well. I'm so happy for all of you. Glad to hear you're doing well, and welcome back!!
