Way to go lindaa, and thinking of all of us and you went in. You're sweet. Have a quick recovery, and check in later!! Jeanie, no signs today that anything happened on Tuesday evening, but I do think the light day of liquids helped yesteday. I feel like I did before I ever went to IHOP. Hope no one ever has a day like that. I don't wish the pain, the agony of doing harm to the band, or the worring about another possible surgery on anyone!!!

Yes, the powder I have says Jay Robbs Unflavored Whey Protein Isolate Powder. In the ingredients are 100% Whey Protein Isolate and Lecithin. That's it. Supposedly the body absords this protein better, it's the purest you can get out there.

I don't have much restriction either, maybe that's another reason why I got into so much trouble the other night, even though I tried to portion out things on my plate to what looked to be the right amount. Who knows, I'm passed it and ready to move on today. Heading to clean up my sons room now, it's such a mess and I've waited far too long to do this because of that reason. It will probably take a while, but I'll check back in a little bit when I sit him down for lunch. Hope you're having a great day!!

Jeanie, I think doing the liquids yesterday did me good and I'm feeling much better. Move me down 3 more lbs. I also only did 2 shakes, 1 soup, and at dinner I had a 1/4 cup of beefaroni,1/4 cup mashed potatoes (homemade with just a tad of butter) so not many caloires, and I walked last night for 25 minutes. Must of help out with the loss today.
-
Jeanie, yes, it sounds like our docs are on the same page with that one, what a shocker huh,LOL. I also asked at my appointment if there was such a thing as getting in too much protein, and he said no, as long as I'm using the isolate protein.
-
Jeanie, I don't taste it in my soups, and taste just a little in my cottage cheese. I don't think it's bad. I've been thinking about this one, because I seem to be getting in my protein from my vanilla and chocolate protein with my shakes right now, and with my food choices, I'm getting in the amount the dietician wanted me to get in, which is minimum of 55 g, idealy 60 to 70 g a day. But once we go to mushies, I think I'll be using the unflavored more often in things like mashed potatoes, oatmeal, etc. I was starting to think I payed all that money and it's just been sitting there, but I think it will really help me out in this new phase. I let you know as I go.

Good morning Jeanie.

Kristin, good luck!!!!! Chim, just went to Fit Day, oh how cool is that. I started my journal and my food for the day. Love to log it in there, instead of on a sheet at home. Hope it will be ok with the dietician, but I love to be able to customize the food I'm eating to add up the calories. Awesome. Going to be on there today getting all my favorite foods logged in so they are set up. It will go quicker later on. and I put in my weight today, 215, and told them I wanted to weigh 132 by my birthday next year, 6/17/08, and it figured I have to lose 1.74 lbs a week to reach my goal by my birthday. I can do this!!!

GOOD morning all, yes, a GOOD morning it is. I'm putting the last 2 days behind me and having a fresh new start. Sorry I was in such a rut yesteday, I was just really scared, but I feel soooo much better today. Just ate some oatmeal, and it went down fine, no pain. I still will probably only have 2 mushy meals today alternating with liquids, just to keep it at a slow pace. What a difference a day makes. Patti C., thanks for the blessings, I think they really worked. AppleBlossom, I agree with you on the salad bar, I'm so missing it, but it will have to wait a while. I am getting some fruits in my shakes, so it's been pretty tasty. Who would of thought we'd miss salad?? Tinkerbell, so glad you're up and feeling great. mango, good luck on the pre op appointment. Let us kow how it goes.

Dieka, the isolate powder is better absorbed by the body, which means it's better for you, according to my Dr. Your Dr. may want to have a certain kind, so I'd ask if what you have is what you need. G nite all. Hope to get a better nights sleep tonight.
-
Chim, I think he refered that GNC itself didn't make one. Who knows, he sure didn't. Dieka, I have Jay Robbs unlavored powder. It's pretty good. I've put it in cottage cheese, but when you add your powder so soups, you have to add it in vey very slowly or it clumps up. I made a can of cream of broccoli soup and took about 10 minutes to add the powder, constantly stirring, so it would be smooth. I think you can still return it to GNC even if it's opened. Was the powder you bought an isolate powder or concentrated? Anyway, you can find the Jay Robbs at jayrobbs.com. Tinkerbell, glad to hear everything went well for you. Welcome to Bandland.
-
Chim, what a jerk. I made a similar trip to our GNC and I was searching for unflavored powder. Everyone kept saying they got theirs there. So I go in and he says GNC doesn't make one. OK, then what other brands do you have? So he shows me one and I say no, I can't use it. I need an isolate powder. He says why??? Because I do, and I wasn't going any farther than that. He tried to sell me some other Any whey product that was concentrated. I told him I'd look elsewhere and left. So I just went for my first walk with my wrist weights. Wow, what a diference. They are only 1 lb, but after 20 minutes, my arms were tired. Hope they help trim down my arms. Very flabby at the top. on my walk I had my first of what I'd guess was a productive burp, PB. I didn't force it or anything, but a little Water came up with it. No food, so I'm not sure it it was sliming or a PB, but it happened. I have a little burning sensation, so I drank a little milk, and it's pretty much gone. I'm ready to have this day over, and hopefully start fresh tomorrow.

nurse76, I'm here. Took a long nap with my son after I got home from having my car worked on. And I am feeling a little better, but I'm still just shaking my head in disbelief that I did this. Realize I did not do this on purpose, I didn't go out thinking I was going to have bread, and even when I ordered I didn't realize what I was doing. It wasn't until afterwards that I realized what I had ate, and what was happening with the swelling. I wasn't trying to cheat. I just screwed up. After all the classes, seminars, and appointments. When I ordered I was in my Lapband frame of mind. Even asked since I had bariatric surgery could I order off the childrens menu. When I was eating, I ate vey small bites, and chewed until well liquified. But the whole time I was sitting there eating my pancake, nothing snapped in my head. I wasn't telling myself things like I was going to pay for it later, or I shouldn't be eating this. I felt inside my guidelines even though I absolutley wasn't. It's just not as easy going out to dinner, especially when you are not used to ordering the correct things. Needless to say it will be a long time before I go out and eat again, just because I know I caused so much panick in myself with this. And I'm sure I will definitely be more aware as I'm ordering when I'm out now. Sticking to Soup is always my best bet, even when on mushies.
-
Ok Dini, I'll try to forgive myself. I do have to run though. I have to take my car to the shop to have it's third recall on it taken care of. The car is a 2005 and it has had 3 recalls already. I love the car, but it's getting ridiculous.
-
janiee, good luck tomorrow. We'll keep you in our prayers. lainy, yes Slimfas has protein in it, and you can get the Optima Slimfast that has more protein in it. Do you have protein powders over there. You add a scoop of powder to drinks to get in the protein. You may be able to order online.
-
I don't know if it was a combination of the bread and the amount I ate or what.
-
lainy, that is odd about the protein drinks. All Dr.s have their own diets and phases and what they want you to drink, but I guess I figured everyone would be drinking the protein shakes. Protein in your diet is necessary. It helps keep you feeling full, which is the best thing it does, but it also helps other areas like your hair. If you don't get enought protein you will start losing some, not a bunch, but protein helps keep the hair you have. I'd call and see if your Dr. maybe just forgot to mention it to you, or maybe you'll start on these in a later phase.

Chim, It's just such a downer for me. I was doing so well, and my appointment went so good yesterday. I'm just beating myself up over this still. I know, there isn't anything I can do now, just try to learn from it and move on. I think I'd quit beating myself up if I felt better today, but I still feel something down there. Water is passing through just fine, but it seems like something is stuck on the side wall of the pouch or something. When I swallow the water, it's like gas comes up to meet the water as it's going down. I keep hoping a big burp will dislodge whatever is stuck. I ate 4 more papaya enzymes about 45 minutes ago, to no avail. Don't know what else I can do except stay on liquids and pray. Maybe I stretched the pouch too much, and it just needs time to relax and retract. It's a guessing game.
-
lainy, did you Dr. send you home with directions on how much to eat, or what you should eat? My Dr. had the amounts he wanted to me to eat, 4 ozs. at a time, and 3 meals/3 snacks a day. Then I had a list of liquids to choose from. As long as you're following Dr.'s orders, you'll be fine and it will be enough. Try to get out of the house and walk, even just up and down the street, I promise it will make you feel beter. Sorry you're so down.
-
lainy, are you missing food? Some say they have post-surgery mourning for their food.

Morning all. Please notice how I didn't reply as good morning, because nothing has been good in the last 14 hours. So here it is, the worst live and learn experience I can share with you. We'll go back to last night when we ate at IHOP for dinner. I ordered a childs breakfast dinner- 1 egg, 1 pancake with bluebery topping, 1 sausage, and 1 bacon strip. I ate 1/2 the egg, gave my son the sausage, ate 1/2 the bacon, and 1/2 the pancake. I figured it about 5 ozs, 6 at the most. Wait. Did I say pancake?????? Yes I did. What was I thinking, I do not know, but obviously I wasn't. Pancake is bread, and bread swells up in our little pouches. I felt full and stopped eating. We left about 7:40 pm, and as soon as I sat down in the car I felt very full. We went to Dicks sporting goods store. I figured the walking around would help. It didn't. I almost bought a water there, as it had been a 1/2 hour after my meal, but I waited until I got home. We got home at 9pm, and I grabbed a water. Started drinking. By 10pm, I'm still uncomfortable. I feel like something is stuck, and won't go gown, and then realize the whole bread swelling is going on. I haven't got sick but feel I could. By 11pm, I'm ready for bed. We get in bed, and you know, the whole "it" is supposed to take place. Well, my DH is now scared and nervous, and doesn't want to hurt me, so he's chickening out. That's ok, I love his honesty and his love for me. So I tell him that's ok, we'll wait a little longer, and I told him how I was feeling with my situation. I couldn't even lay on my back without feeling ill. So I told him I was going downstairs. Came down and got on-line and went to the post-op complications on this board. I'm panicking at this time, almost in tears, fearing I've screwed up so bad. I'm reading every post there is on food feeling stuck, or not being able to swallow. Not too much there, but then I found something. Someone was talking about taking the papaya enzymes as they aide in digestion. A lightbulb goes in my head, I have papaya enzymes, it was on my pre op list from this site of things to buy. So, I head to the kitchen and get them, open them up and take 4, that was the dose. I go sit in the chair and wait. I feel them kinda working, and then it's done. I'm still sitting there having a hard time swallowing. So after about a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, I take 4 more. I go back to my chair and finally fall asleep. At 6:45 am I wake up, and the feeling is still there. I go get a bottle of water, and start to drink. It's better, but still there. Fell back asleep and got up about 9:30, and yes, it's still there. I can drink my shake, as I already have, but I'm so scared I've done some major harm. I've decided to stay on pure liquid today, shakes and water only, and pray to God that it is gone by later tonight or tomorrow. If not I will proceed to call the Dr. and try to get in to see him. This not to scare anyone, please don't think that's why I'm telling you all. But I am so scared still right now that I have done something bad and don't want any of you to ever, EVER have to go through this. Still even ordering my meal, I was thinking mushys all day. In my mind I'm hearing my Dr. telling me about being able to eat Wendy's chili. So I guess I figured pancake, soft, with the blueberry sauce seeping through is was a little mushy. But for whatever reason, the whole bread swelling didn't dawn on me until after the fact. So that's my last 14 hours in a nut shell. I'm still feeling like something just won't go down in my pouch, and nothing has come up either, but I don't know what to do . The water makes it 10 times worse as it makes it expand more, and this is what was going on last night before I had went to bed. So please, whenever you eat bread, please remember that it swells, and you may want to put papaya enzymes on your grocery list. I think they saved me a little this morning at 12:30 am. You can get them at Walmart. Patti C., as you can see we both had scares last night. I hope you are feeling better today after your episode. It really puts it into a new perspective, and we learn quickly to respect the band. I hope we are through with this and use it as a learning experience, for everyone.

G'nite all!!!!!!!

Kathybad, I'm getting to head to "bed" now. We watch the show Pirate Masters, reality TV, we are so into. We watch just about all of them. Survivor is our favorite, and then Big Brother. So the shows over, the news is starting, and I'm heading up the stairs in just a few minutes. Had to check on one thing real quick. He's waited this long, another few minutes won't kill him.LOL!!!
