I am sitting here reading a few posts. I was looking at the vet forum and realized that this May I will be 2 years post-op. That just seems amazing to me. I have lost 171 pounds, I still have another 19 to hit my goal weight but it is still coming off. Would anyone know why I can't post or reply in the vet forum?

I am almost a year out from surgery. Down 150 pounds and feel great. I divorced my ex husband 2 months after surgery. I found an amazing new man several months later and we just got married last weekend. I am thankful everyday that I chose to have this surgery. I would have never had the confidence in myself to stand up for me. I have an amazing life now without the negativity and abuse from my ex. My new husband is amazing. Thanks to this surgery, my life has changed so much in a good way.

Dr. Garcias Only surgery for 5/4/13
froggymama15@yahoo.com replied to yeny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It didn't make mine any larger but I think it depends on the surgeon. Scars didn't seem to change much at all. The ones that he used looked like they did before -

Summer heat & dehydration
froggymama15@yahoo.com replied to eyengo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved in May of last year so I went through the summer. I ha a struggle at first and did get dehydrated. Ended up in hospital for 3 days. My suggestion to you is to pretty much make sure that water bottle is permanently attached to your hand. If you get tired of drinking plain water( I did), make crystal light( or something similar). Gulping down water once you get thirsty could actually make you sick. And it hurts a lot. Remember to always sip the water as directed for the first month at least. I know it is a pain but the alternative was not fun. My doctor threatened a pic line in my shoulder because I was having such a hard time in the first month. Some doctors say to not use a straw for a certain amount of time, I actually found that I did better by having one. I also found that ice cold drinks were best. Any drink close to room temperature made me sick and often still does. I hope I was at least a little helpful. Good luck! -
I moved to Kansas 5 months ago so I don't have the same support of the friends that I had made. Is there anyone in the central Kansas area? I am near Salina

I am 10 months out and the loose skin on my arms and legs are driving me crazy. I am a recently single mother and cannot afford the gym. Does anyone have any at home tips they could give me to help tighten that back up?

NAUSEA!
froggymama15@yahoo.com replied to ChickMeLove83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did experience this and found out I wasn't getting enough fluids. I ended up severely dehydrated by week 3 and spend 3 days in the hospital. Even after 10 months I have a problem with dehydration and will start getting nauseous when it gets bad. You need to make sure you are pushing the liquids. I know it seems like it get worse when you do but the more you push them, the more you rehydrate and that feeling will go away. I was to the point of water making me sick. That's when I went in. -

I WANT A DIET COKE SO BAD...HOW CAN I FLAT IT OUT
froggymama15@yahoo.com replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 10 months out. I rarely drink soda but my doc(like a lot of other) has a different opinion on it. He said none for a year. I tried drinking it a few times anyway and found that I'm not missing much. I also found out that I can't drink it from a can because it fizzes too much causing pain. I have to pour it over ice and then drink slowly. I never make through a half can. I think the best option is just talk to your doctor and nutritionist. They will have suggestions on what is right for you. -

Any okay tasting protein shakes?
froggymama15@yahoo.com replied to Determined_Me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 10 months out. The Premier shakes are the best. I found that out after trying so many. I can also tolerate the Whey Protein Vanilla flavor from Walmart but that has to be added to a fruit smoothie or I can't. The Nectar sweets were too sweet for me. If you really like sweets then they would be good. -
I started mine the morning of my surgery. The ones after that seemed to go smoothly and normally on time until 6 months out then they started coming farther apart and only last 1-2 days with really light bleeding. I have had blood prego tests done and other blood work. They say everything is normal.

That makes me nervous as well. He wants me to try but I haven't yet. I just finally got comfortable having a light on or even doing it in the daylight

Oh ok. Lol! That was a pretty amazing accomplishment for me when I could finally do it that way. Another recent accomplishment in that department is the 69 position. Never thought I would ever do that but I did!

I Can Run! Can You?
froggymama15@yahoo.com replied to deedeemuffin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I used to jog when I was in high school. My step mom and I would do 4 miles everyday. Now 10 years out of high school jogging has not even been on a list of things I could do. Until recently. After losing 145 pounds I have found that I can jog. Not the 4 miles I used to but I will get there again. My boobs do pay the price. I don't remember them hurting like they do now -
