Please help! I am completely freaked out!
MamaM replied to drea22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bounce. Meaning that I go up and down all the time. Can't stress out about it. Now. If it's more like 10 lbs, then you should take a serious look at things but a few pounds is nothing to worry about at this point. -
Removal/revision here. First thing my husband said to me when I woke up was, "He did it! It worked." Thank GOD because I seriously did NOT want to have to do surgery again. I would have tho, had I needed too. I would NOT have had to jump thru all of the hoops again tho. It would have all been part of the removal and revision process. I would have had to do some classes but that would have just been a technicality. I wouldn't have needed to get re-approved.

Why Chewable Vitamins Ok And Gummies Not?
MamaM replied to Strangefruit's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I was never told no gummies. My levels are all good. So I have no ideas for you. -
I can honestly say that I don't see what the point of a food funeral would be. I understand the concept but in reality, once you are fully healed and have progressed thru all of the steps your surgeon's guides will bring you thru, there really isn't much of anything you won't every be able to have again. Now, granted, there will be things that you just plain don't want anymore but that's totally different. I am finding that there are certain things I just don't want anymore b/c the thought of it or the taste of it has changed somehow but I'm really able to eat pretty much any thing. Save your money, and your guilt, for something more deserving of both.

I was going to say chili as well. Another would be a thick bean soup/stew. Yumm!

The Official What You Will Need For Your Upcoming Weightloss Surgery Thread!
MamaM replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You will only be 2 days out from MAJOR surgery, you will be in NO shape to be going off to join them for the day of "festivities" OR be up for visitors!!! Hubby needs to become the gate-keeper and you need to rest and stay on your meds, in between sipping and walking. Trust me, this will be your full-time job at least thru the weekend! Best wishes on your surgery AND with your family! -
I'm 5 months out and have only had a small sip here and there. But of regular soda. I won't drink diet, not b/c of the carbonation but b/c of what's in it. I stopped all soda 4 1/2 yrs ago, even before my band surgery. It just doesn't hold any appeal for me anymore.

Just go get a new one. You'll have to pay for it but just do it. No biggie.

What about rice milk? Another thought, what if you added egg white protein to it? Wondering if that would thincken it up w/the alternative milks.

Any One Here Had The Gastric Sleeve Done By Kaiser?
MamaM replied to yale88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kaiser Permanente is medical center/insurance all-in-one kind of thing. I am glad that you are taking your time with this and making sure this is what you are really wanting to do. Kaiser requires classes and appointments before granting the okay to proceed w/surgery. It's a whole process and I think a good one, even tho most of us just want to get thru it fast and be on the other side already! yale88, please do keep me posted. I didn't mean to scold. Sure sounds that way when I re-read what I posted! LOL!!! Sorry about that! -
Any One Here Had The Gastric Sleeve Done By Kaiser?
MamaM replied to yale88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kaiser Fresno here. I'm a little different in that I am removal/revision. My band slipped. I did all the classes and stuff w/the band, nothing but an orientation w/my revision. It all had to happen too fast for that. The process I went thru the 1st time was much longer and more in-depth than what y'all do now. The process is worth it tho. Once you're done, you'll wonder why you thought it would take so long! Follow the rules, instructions, guidelines and you'll do fine. Don't be afraid to ask questions and listen carefully to the answers you're given. Best wishes on your journey! -
I've got an Rx for them. I've suffered for years. Call your doc's office and see what they say. Feel better.

YAY!!!!!!! So glad your leak is healed! Sorry about the other stuff tho. Continue taking good care of yourself! Still praying too!!!!!!!!!!!

Uggh ! The Nerve Of Some Ppl !
MamaM replied to jessfharris's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't waste your time. You can explain til you're blue in the face and she would still never get it. Just take care of you. Do what you need to do and let her see the results. She isn't worth the energy to get all riled up over. -
init4me, sounds like you did a great job! I would also add that maybe some of the bbq'd meats that don't have the sauce on them would work too. Not sure where you're at transition wise w/beef and pork. Anything grilled and not sauced up should be fine. I don't think your going to derail yourself! Sounds like you had a good time w/your mom!!
-
Oh Hell No!!!! She did NOT just call your man whipped?! She's fishing in waters that she shouldn't be! Hubby needs to unfriend her. I don't care what her feelings are about it. Then he needs to make sure his settings are such that she can't PM him anymore. He didn't want to "friend" her in the 1st place. He should feel free to UF her! If she says anything, just tell her it was his decision, as it's his wall. I think it would be a little different if she hadn't talked to you in awhile and posted ON HIS WALL asking about you but to PM him and more than once, is suspect. Especially when she speaks with you on a regular basis. I don't trust her!

I agree w/your decision to probably wait. I have one on my ankle and it's fine so far. I want one on my forearm and the only thing stopping me at this point is $$. Had some saved but had to go for something more important. I'm itching to get it done so I understand your excitement! And how awesome to have a piece of your mom's artwork w/you forever!!!!

THANK YOU! I don't understand the theory that now you've had surgery, your new normal should be to lose 5-10lbs a day! Oh and we must be doing something wrong if we're not!!! And these are bariatric people talking like this! Not clueless family, friends and acquaintances!!!! To be honest, I'm in a very different place than most people. I never thought I'd be offered a revision. I expected to have to deal with my band the way it was and just do the best I could to NOT gain. I never thought I'd ever lose weight again. I was trying to be happy with were I was at. So, no, I don't get where people are coming from when they are upset with their weight losses. I try to be positive and let people know how wonderfully well they are doing and support some of that process. I don't know what is in another person's head or where they are in their own daily lives.

I have to eat by the clock and/or w/my family. Otherwise I "forget" to eat. I will sort of get "hungry" feeling if it's been way too long but even that feeling goes away after a minute or so. It's crazy. I've never felt like this before. Oh, and I'm 8 weeks out.
-
Why feel guilty? It's not like you're saying it's good when it's not or something like that. You're taking it home to enjoy later. Maybe ask for a container when you order so as soon as you get your food, you can box most of it up and set it on another chair or on the bench w/your purse, then all they see is a [nearly] empty plate when they start clearing the table. Besides you are paying them for a service = no guilt!

Tired Of The "when Can You Have___ Again?" Questions
MamaM replied to gustavo52974's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Next time this happens, put it back on them! "When can you have (ex.) soda again?" "Why would I want too?" And leave it at that. No need to explain your position. They need to explain theirs! -
Once I got thru the first night, the first week was okay. Now. Weeks two and three? UGH!!! Now I'm 8 weeks out and doing really well! Hang in there. It DOES get better!!!
